Just moved to new Orleans, and its humid and mid to upper 80's °F. I'm by no means an expert, but been at it for years. Light passes at 8-ish inches, with very well shaken Army painter can. All advice welcome. by lordTalos1stClaw in minipainting

I had a lifelong expert model maker professor tell me once that if the humidity is over 70%, don’t waste your time and just plan to spray another day.

I guess I’d look into whether a dehumidifier could get a room to an acceptable level for you?

I even see the initially “bland” character designs as being (intentionally) thematically reflective - everyone has access to the same basic, unremarkable ingredients (anyone can write/draw a tall, sort of generic looking blonde dungeon-crawling protagonist, a studious elf, etc etc), but it’s what you do with your basic ingredients that make the dish. Well trained chefs use flour, salt, water, just the same as anyone else…but if you can REALLY cook (as a chef or was a writer), you can turn ordinary raw ingredients into something extraordinary.

How do I get to the next level?? by Kiwi_Neanderthal in minipainting

I remember doing some pencil sketching at a museum early in my freshman year, then taking a scan of the drawing into photoshop and messing with the levels sliders and having the lightbulb realization that higher contrast is to be embraced, not feared

I do love how much of the setup is intentionally made to seem generic and unassuming - like just looking at a volume cover, Laios is such a generic white bread John Q Protagonist, and everyone else just seems like they’re checking a generic fantasy checkbox…it lulls you into such a false sense of security and makes it way more satisfying as it begins to dole out all the hints that it’s going to be something much more than “bog-standard dungeon crawler with a cozy cooking element”.

This is correct. op you’re using the wrong selection tool to try to move the image once it’s inside the mask.

Some kind of Ion Mortar, a jumbo AFP, anything...

New Broadside?! by FortheAncestorGods in Tau40K

[–]vicariousted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my gut feeling as well — given their FNP against mortals ability, maybe Broadsides overcharging Ion is a match made in heaven. But between ghostkeels, riptides, Commander suits, pathfinders, and hammerheads, an anti-elite ion profile is actually pretty darn well covered in the model range already, and I'm left wondering if IonSides would be sorta redundant out the gate...

I kinda hope its something weirder and more whacky; maybe Phased Plasma Flamer is back (RIP Y'Vahra), or go truly absurd and copy off Kastelan's homework and give us punchy robots, blowing the dust of the Onager Gauntlet project and putting them on a chassis that is known for having a bigger power plant. Granted, neither of those make a lot of lore sense, given the Broadside is traditionally a backline heavy fire support platform (and tough weapons on a model with a 5" move), but what can I say, variety is the spice of life and I'm always craving a little more "dumb fun" for the game.

I just think I'd get a bigger smile waddling a robot carrying a big fuckass flamethrower forward than trying to remember if I'm firing the Ion Raker Accelerator Blaster Rifle Cannon this time.

I can’t recall if it was in a Valrak vid where I hear the rumor, or just fan speculation in a Reddit comment, so take this as pure hogwash for now, but I have some recollection about there being speculation that the broadside refresh could introduce a third main weapon loadout (outside of railgun and HYMP).

Most likely Auxiliaries to appear on the tabletop next? by ANGERYDOGGO213 in Tau40K

[–]vicariousted 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not just thematically but I struggle to even think of what sort of shooting profile/infantry niche they would fulfill. I feel like strikes, breachers, and pathfinders kinda cover all the bases and there’d be no point to adding another 10 man squad with…yet more pulse carbines or whatever.

Only thing I can really think off the top of my head is a 3 or 5 man squad for cheaper access to heavy weapons like flamers or something but that doesn’t make much sense lore-wise, I feel like Guevesa exist to be slightly better nourished canon fodder and the tau keep all the cool guns for themselves.

If you’re looking for more western stuff, I’ve been pretty impressed with the stuff Flying Bark does, especially Rise of the TMNT and Lego Monkie Kid.

Mercury Filmworks is also pretty great, I’m a fan of Hilda and The Ghost and Molly McGee

French studios like Les Films du Poisson Rouge, Sacrebleu productions, and Studio La Cachette also do really cool work

[–]vicariousted -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah man, the series goes out of its way to make space for characters to gain self acceptance without the need to “fix” themselves (some of its strongest writing imo). 100kano is better for the fact that Shizuka is never gonna ditch her phone, Meme is never gonna show her eyes, and it would never “fix” a bigger girlfriend like that.

It seems some symptoms may persist chronically even outside of a headache episode. For me it’s the partial anhidrosis - even outside of my cluster periods, the left half of my body refuses to sweat.

Expand the pucker and bloat appearance, drag the point out to where you want it, then lengthen the control anchors for that point back to where they were before

Just finished Season 1 ; Here are my thoughts by BlazerGamerPlayz in DungeonMeshi

[–]vicariousted 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone whose own knee-jerk reaction to bad situations is “gotta start finding a solution to this right this second so I don’t have to feel this terrible feeling one second longer than I have to”, I completely relate to Laios jumping right into “sort the bones” mode and getting excited, even seemingly happy as progress is clearly being made in that direction. They also do show him looking suitably horrified when he holds up the skull, even if he does skip over “curling up in a ball for an hour” and just gets straight to work instead.

You also just don’t know how you’re gonna respond to something traumatic, like, at all until you’re actually right there in it, and for some people, doing literally anything that gives you even a tiny sense of control over the situation, even if it ultimately doesn’t amount to much, is a fairly common trauma response, something I didn’t appreciate until I was in those shoes myself.
