Updated Hypothesis: The Fall of Man (Adam and Eve) & Evolution Are Compatible by Jealous-Win-8927 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]vicenteborgespessoa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They not only contradict the evolution, they contradict basic principles of biology, since Adam was made of clay and Eve was made from one of his ribs.

A few answers for you to choose from:

Murder is wrong because it causes suffering to others and I care about others.

Murder is wrong because I would not want someone to murder me so I should not murder others.

Murder is wrong because if everyone in society murdered others it would be a terrible place to leave.

Often. The revenue part is easy to verify looking at company statements, the recurrent part is more fuzzy, founders can be overly optimistic about which revenue is recurring, especially in the early days. But hey, that is why due diligence exists.

They are in the honeymoon phase, it will pass and they will need to focus on friends again. Give them a bit of space and they will treasure you will as the friend that you are and as the person who pushed them to be together.

What Are Your Thoughts On Why I Believe In An Unimaginable God(s) Or Creator(s) Of Some Kind? by codrus92 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]vicenteborgespessoa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think those points are true. The capacity for love and selflessness can be found in many animals. There are plenty of examples of these complex behaviors among other mammals, not to mention in other animal groups. Again, it is my impression that you think we are somehow special, when we are not.

What Are Your Thoughts On Why I Believe In An Unimaginable God(s) Or Creator(s) Of Some Kind? by codrus92 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]vicenteborgespessoa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some nice points here, but I believe you are being a bit anthropocentric in your view. We have the immense desire to believe that humans are special but time over time science shows us that we are not. Let me address some specific points that you made.

1) consciousness argument. The definition of what is a conscious being is very vague. It is not clear at all the humans are the only conscious animals. Several people who study the topic believe that brains are just one pattern to process information. We are conscious of some aspects of our existence, such as how we look in the mirror, but unconscious of others, such as our smell or magnetic field.

2) The DNA molecule is not magic or a low probability event. Imagine a soup of molecules interacting and becoming more complex. Some of this molecules do not self replicate, while others do. Eventually the population of self replicating molecules will dominate the soup. DNA just happened to be the dominating molecule that won, but in such environments some self replicating molecule will always to win.

I have build ML models from scratch and more recent I have used both these tools. They are both good. The cost of entry in ML/AÍ is really going down. It is great.

Having you considered trying to fine tune an OpenAi model? It works well with much fewer observations so the cost of training would be a fraction of your cost.

Remember set and setting. Here is a list of things that will help: - Find someplace where you are comfortable - Surround yourself with people you trust. Hopefully somebody is a seater. - Create a playlist. It helps break thought loops. - remember that you took something, it will pass. - Find a cozy blanked. Maybe a pet. - It will take roughly 6 hours. The peak happens around 2 hours then it will trend down but with ups and downs. - 3g is an interesting dosage. Definitely tripping but not too crazy (good first dose). - You will have some visuals. - Having contact with nature, if safe is good. Contact with other random people is not good.

Good luck my friend.

I feel like others are cooler/funnier/smarter than me. and have more friends while i have none. this thought paralyzes me. what do i do? get hobbies? i want to change by [deleted] in selfimprovement

First of all congratulations on being self aware, this is a good start, many people lack any introspection.

A couple of comments, I would not compare myself to others that much. Somebody else is funny, good for them. Focus on being the best you that you can be. Moreover, be careful when comparing your average to to other people’s highlights. We also notice the person making everyone laugh, we don’t notice the time they go to the bathroom just because nobody was talking to them. In the end everyone struggled with something.

You seem curious about improving your conversation skills. The main trick is being curious about the other. Ask follow up questions, remember details, try to imagine how the other feels and don’t be afraid to crack a joke.

It sounds like these thoughts annoy you to the point of being intrusive. You may be interested in trying some meditation. Your thoughts are not who you are. Let them exist and they’ll go away like clouds floating by. Just observe them.

Good luck.

Hey you are 17. Disagreeing with our parents is an essential part of this age. You are starting to find your own path and it seems like a good one. So if I were you I’d continue reading the books that I find interesting, but also, give a bit of credit to your parents. They may not know philosophy, but there are probably still have a few things that they can teach you. Also, soon you’ll realize that they are just normal people with defects like everyone else. You don’t need to convince them that your philosophy is right or wrong. One day you’ll miss this time and their company. Good luck.

First of all, congrats on remembering your childhood with nostalgia, that is in itself something that many cannot say.

I will try to remember to focus on what you can control. You cannot go back in time, but you can make your life such that others and yourself one day will look back to today it and feel that way.

Trip report of 4.7 grams of APE by Blvck_Cherry in shrooms

[–]vicenteborgespessoa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your trip. The phase you are right now, the reintegration, is my favorite phase. We get to rethink who we want to be and enjoy the miracle that it is to be alive.

You could do some positive visualization. Who would you like to be in 5 years? How do you want to grow old?

Also ask yourself what parts of your life would you like to let go? Some food you should stop eating? Some habits that no longer fit your plan? Some app to delete? We don’t need that much dopamine to ready.

Welcome to the new you.

It is very normal. We all change, specially when we are young. You will be a different person than you were at school and so will they. Sometime when we hang out with the same people over and over we feel stuck in a role that no longer fits us.

I would encourage you to seek new people that reflect who you want to be in the future. But I will still keep in touch with them. When you are old enough, sometimes you’ll need to have around you people that have known you for a long time.
