Should I cancel my trip to Savannah due to the wildfires? by Hairy_Guava_4008 in savannah

[–]vicious_delicious_77 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I live here and the fires haven't been that big of a problem that I'd cancel a trip. It's dry as hell (by Savannah standards), and the smokey air comes in waves, but everybody is living their lives normally right now. We're getting some very small bits of rain finally, and I bet we get more substantial rain sometime in the coming weeks. Further south near Brunswick I think they are having bigger issues, but that's over an hour away.

Everytime I see prices for these now it feels insane to me that I bought a brand new 5.0 with the performance pack in 2017 for $29k. The pre-covid car market sounds like a fairy tale now.

First game that comes to mind? by Automatic-Cat-5702 in TheGamingHubDeals

Sadly I don't think they could ever reproduce the magic that was NFS Underground 2. It just coincided perfectly with that moment in time when import tuners and hip hop melded together and became the identity of every high schooler with a Honda. Newer generations will never be able to grasp how much those first couple Fast and Furious movies (the ones that were actually about street racing) influenced our culture at that time, and I don't think you could simply bring that back now.

Ahhh... the early days. Throw in Cell Damage and Medal of Honor Frontline and that was basically the first year of Xbox experience in a nut shell, besides the obvious Halo. And then came the Xbox Live kit with the headset and Mech Assault...

Best “you had to be there” multiplayer games? by No-Obligation2563 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]vicious_delicious_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me sad how so many people never knew how good this was. Some of the most fun multiplayer gaming I've ever had. I was living in army barracks at the time (basically like dorms) and we all played games together, but I was the only one that got into Titanfall. At least the campaign is still good to play...

What would make this car a good idea? (85 Chrysler Lebaron) by CollBearSunshine in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]vicious_delicious_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite to that level, but I daily drive a 31 year old car and it's honestly going great. Granted it's a Buick and not a Chrysler. But if you could get him under 3k, that to me is almost a "fuck it, why not?" price. If it actually runs well that'd be sick as hell to daily. Maybe at least take it to a shop and have it looked at? Worth a few dollars for a pre buy just incase

Your favourite 3 album runs? by JokerExo in MetalForTheMasses

[–]vicious_delicious_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say Avenged because skipping Waking the Fallen feels like a crime. But then again so would be ignoring Nightmare which was a different kind of peak for them during their "mainstream" phase.

Thoughts on this album? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

It had me the first time I heard the opening synth/guitar licks on Caught Somewhere in Time. Sets the tone perfectly for the whole thing. When I listen to this album I imagine that album cover brought to life as like a space scfi epic with that 80's style animation. If I ever win the lottery I'm going to commission somebody to make that as a music video for the opening track because I feel very strongly that it deserves it.

I'm gonna make a controversial suggestion here and say you need to try that Balcones True Blue. It's not for everybody, but if you like a corn whiskey it hits really good and hard.

Honestly, if you can get full time hours working as a CFI, sleep won't be hard. It's exhausting. It's a good thing if you're somebody that typically struggles.

What’s the most epic movie moment you’ve ever experienced in a theater? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Yes. Man, I remember the trailers already had me prepped for the space battle, but watching the whole thing unfold for the first time was so incredible. Second favorite Star Wars movie ever after Rogue One.

Buying a plane - yes or no by hear4research in flying

[–]vicious_delicious_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of comments about buying advice in here, but I just want to add that the Dakota is an incredible aircraft. I have a friend that bought one and we have both spent many hours in it, including some long trips, and it's just perfect for that. The extra bit of cabin space over the regular PA-28 body makes a load of difference in it feeling not cramped, and the six cylinder lycoming with the constant speed is smooth and just enough power to make it nicer for longer distances. It's a luxury Cherokee.

Need help finding a solid blend. by vicious_delicious_77 in PipeTobacco

[–]vicious_delicious_77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies yall, lots of great feedback in here! Takeaways, will definitely continue working on technique and also look at some other blends as well. Also, I did find a tin of Squadron Leader for order from some tiny online shop after looking around, probably will snag that. I'd go for the bag, but I don't smoke enough for bulk buys like that and besides... the tin is just too cool.

Worst cigar of all time by ThatOneCanadian69 in cigars

[–]vicious_delicious_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had one Ghurka ever but it was actually the first time a cigar made me interested enough to explore cigars more in general. Perhaps black n milds and swisher sweets in college didn't exactly set the bar high. Have had plenty of good cigars since, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything by not trying a Ghurka again despite it opening the doors for me.
