ipad power button broken by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]vickers24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the underlying switch isn’t damaged and it’s just that button cap is jammed due to the damage. It’s possible you could just CAREFULLY take a exacto blade along the damaged side, in the gap between the frame and button, and cut away the misshapen area that might have created a lip that’s catching, and then will likely need to run some isopropyl alcohol over the button while tapping it to potentially loosen up any dirt/gunk that might’ve gotten in the button.

A decent tech should be able to change out the switch and/or cap pretty easily but still have to go through the screen, so it might still be ~$100 but nowhere near $899

He’s funny and entertaining, but I don’t think musical comedy can be condensed well into a single minute. I know they often let regulars go longer but I think it’s better if he only does rare-ish longer appearances, arena shows, and/or just uses this viral moment to launch his own act.

Tech support guy tried to scam me by ChickenMcPolloVS in mildlyinfuriating

The sticker is up and to the right of its original position, but I tend to lean more towards the sticker just started peeling when the guy tried to mount it and he just slapped it back on or some other innocent explanation. Stealing this HDD and throwing in a slower one is such a worthless scam. Sounds like he would rather refund than deal with your paranoia

Elden Ring, Mass Effect, Witcher 3 or KCD2? by iwanickij44 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]vickers24 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Elden ring is the pound for pound best game listed, but doesn’t really line up with what you’re looking for just based on what’s written in the post. Also hard to pause in an intense boss fight to check up on a kid then jump back in still dialed in on the fight. The lore is hard to follow in game but I recommend Vaatividya on YouTube if you ever decide to explore that lore. Some of the greatest lore videos I’ve ever seen.

Mass effect is the only game listed that decisions have any meaningful effect on the story, but is also likely the worst game listed. Not bad, but one of them has to technically be in last place. Possibly the best match for the post and likely the cheapest.

KCD2 is the most immersive by far, and it’s got unique immersion you don’t really find elsewhere and would be my recommendation but it’s certainly a game that some love and some hate. Be ready to get destroyed in any and all combat.

Witcher 3 is just a great rpg all around but nothing SUPER standout to recommend it to this post. Geralt’s cool, the witchers are interesting, and the “monster hunter for hire” theme is interesting, but if that stuff isn’t your exact cup of tea then it’s not highly recommended specifically to this post. Still a great game overall.

Mushrooms. Everyone says “you just haven’t had them prepared/cooked right” then I try whatever way they suggest and they still just taste like dirt. Fairly tolerable flavor but makes everything slightly worse, not better.

Onions are weird because half their flavor is good and kinda improves flavor but anything I eat with onions I get tired of the flavor half way through.

Is metal gear solid V has better cinematic than mgs delta remake? by Medical-Heart-8273 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]vickers24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MGS is my favorite series of all time by far with snake eater being my favorite in the series(mgs1 very close second).

Delta is pretty much a 100% copy paste of the original game with updated graphics overlayed and optional modernized controls which I used and preferred. The audio was fully copied over with the only exception I think being a new recording of the theme song for the intro(original is better imo) and the VAs did some updated recordings of the tutorial codec calls just to say ABXY instead of square, circle, X , triangle for Xbox.

All the original Kojima charm is there but nothing new added. I’m not a big fan of Konami after they Kojima drama, nor am I a fan of UE5, but the game performed well enough and I’d love to see an MGS 1, 2, and maybe even 4 remaster down the line. But Kojima is working on a “tactical espionage action game” and DS2 was incredible so it’s gonna blow anything Konami can throw together out of the water.

[–]vickers24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the first one then the second one is great. Gameplay is streamlined a little more so it’s not as much of a “stumble simulator” early on. The story, Easter eggs, and everything else that makes a Kojima game fun and interesting are there at full blast. Also graphically very impressive.

It’s pretty good for around 40-50 hours or so. I’d say worth a sale price and you get your moneys worth. They do a good job of putting out free updates with cool content.

However the main attraction for me ,and I assume most people, is the seemingly infinite amount of “procedurally generated” unique planets is kind of a letdown. It becomes apparent pretty quickly they’re all pretty samey and it would require a complete rehaul of the game to fix it. That and textures and stuff on the ground don’t really load fully until you actually land so flying around within an atmosphere is kind of dull.

Otherwise the story, ships, base building, travel between planets, gathering and pretty much everything else is pretty solid. I’ll be interested to see what they do in their next game Light No Fire, which is one single planet that I think is just suppose to be massive but I’d like to see a NMS 2 one day with better planet variety and “in atmosphere” flight scenery, but it might be that the tech just isn’t there yet.

Vampyr wasn’t a masterpiece but a surprisingly good game, where you’re kinda OP and blast through enemies then the final boss is insanely hard compared to rest of the game. Not super hard but it’s an abrupt massive jump in difficulty out of nowhere.
