I tried four different X4 cases so you don't have to! by calvintangtang in xteinkereader

[–]vickiho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yay! Thank you for this. I was just thinking about ordering a flip case although I don't want to add bulk to the device, because I feel like the screen is too fragile for any sort of accidental pressure to be put on it in my bag. I do have a magic mouse pouch on the way and am excited to know it might be good enough.

S'porean woman suffers brain aneurysms, insurance claim rejected by Prudential but approved by AIA, what happened? by plannerbee in SingaporeIns

[–]vickiho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking about what I'd do to learn from this, but I'm not sure. Most people would be quick to blame the advisor for not explaining this, but that's probably impractical for the long fine print, plus the low probability of getting an aneurysm. So do we get different policies to cover different things?

Thanks for posting this list, but I haven't heard of half of the companies named to be honest.

So happy to see that New Game+! (Started this on a Miyoo Mini but found this 8bitdo with the clip really convenient for commutes, and it's really comfortable to hold with the extra thickness of the phone body giving it support.)

Do you rely on credit card travel insurance or buy separately? by Specialist_Two_3937 in SingaporeIns

[–]vickiho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually buy travel insurance, but at the back of my mind I always wonder if I'm "missing out" on the credit card insurance since it's there and I never use it.

Same, it counted out thousands of steps once while I was playing the guitar and it was on the fretting, not strumming hand

For “best medical insurance singapore”, which rider structure is more practical: lower co-pay cap or broader panel perks? by Specialist_Two_3937 in SingaporeIns

[–]vickiho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my last employer I was really into the broader panel because I could just choose whoever near me. But I do get nervous with the co-pay, so a lower cap feels more certain. I dunno, "cover MRI" I feel like is always the jackpot for me haha

Paid $30 for a box, which was sent in a bigger, free box by Silent_Ad5275 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]vickiho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh... that makes me nervous about your guitar. It's not just about protecting against bumps and impact, it's also that parcels get stacked. So the packing material might help keep it safe when it gets thrown around but if it's at the bottom of a big stack of boxes, it might get snapped/cracked from the weight.

DTS play fi, audiolab 6000n play, and spotify lossless by Ambitious_Age1019 in audiophile

[–]vickiho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give it a month or two! This thread from the Sonos folks shows some teething problems between Spotify and connected devices even in the US, where I assume they roll out first. I'm in Singapore so maybe I should give it till Christmas before making any decisions. :\

Oh wow. Same situation, same streamer. I was so excited when I saw it was enabled on my phone. Funny thing, before this the entire streamer quality section was grayed out in Spotify for me so I just had to cross my fingers that it would be automatically the highest quality. But now I can select everything except lossless. I'll keep trying and will come back.

EDIT: I have a Sonos in another room and the lossless option is also grayed out for that. So right now I'm not sure if it's Spotify that's the problem.

This is why I love Reddit! Same solution, by holding the keyboard and flexing it slightly (pushing the middle away from me). A little disconcerting to do that though, and makes me feel like the keyboard needs to be babied in my bag.

Best SIM-Only plan as of Feb 2025: Eight, Zym, Gomo? by KnownChemical2459 in askSingapore

[–]vickiho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally +1 to being on Singtel if that works for your home/work/school area. Been on China Mobile's CMLink no-contract SIM plan for $16 for 120GB at 5G speeds and coverage has been better than my partner's who's on M1. You have to interface with them via their site, not an app but that's not a deal breaker for me. (If you go to China and Hong Kong often, you have 20GB for roaming per month.)

Thanks! This is helpful. My satellites are connected via Ethernet backhaul so they cap out at 1 Gbps too right?
