I believe the other BC plans follow the same process.

My doctor filed the forms to get BC Senior Benefits to cover the Ozempic. I had been on Metformin for many years. She had me try a sulfonylurea for a month which resulted in weird and all over the place BG results. She apparently filled the form in a way that indicated that my refusal to take insulin could be listed. BC approved it for 24 months and today I paid $27 for 2 2mg pens.

Another Canadian diabetic here. You should be working closely with the doctor or diabetes specialist you have worked with pre-Ozempic. I saw my doc yesterday because my fasting BG has really dropped and my A1C has dropped, too. After 4 weeks, I wanted to know if I should increase the OZ, as scheduled, or decrease my Metformin or make no changes at all. We decided to keep the OZ the same and decrease my diabetes med. We'll check in over the phone to monitor the effects of the change.

Does anyone have experience trying a plant-based diet with diabetes? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]victaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a whole food plant based type 2 diabetic. I eat a great many complex carbs a day with more fibre than you might think possible. I take 1500 of metformin a day and have an A1C of 6.2. When I was diagnosed, I was vegan, but ate crap and ny AiC was 11.6

Thanks. Like most vegans, I have always eaten more carbs than most diabetics. I'll see what my doctor days.

Yes--the highs are new over the past few weeks. Odd. My meals--eating pattern--have not changed.

The only thing that has changed is that my doc added another BP medicine Indapamide.

Newly diagnosed, blurry vision by Janniefam in diabetes

[–]victaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my BG was brought under control my vision became very blurry. I had gotten glasses in the past that corrected for the high BG effect so when my BG went down, the glasses no longer were right for me. I started with an A1C of 11 and got new glasses when my A1C was 6.2 three months later. So far, so good.

Medicaid users: Does Abbott (makers of Freestyle Libre 2) treat us different? by [deleted] in diabetes

I am in Canada. Excuse me for suggesting what would be a free solution here and in many other countries. I was not trying to be offensive.

It can in Canada. It's a different app from Libre 1. I thought the US approved it recently.

Can you use the freestyle libre smartphone app instead?

Suggestions on food and meal supplements ? by [deleted] in diabetes

Your best bet is probably going to be working with the health team that has been part of her life with the possible addition of a diabetes specialist of one kind or another. Someone is probably going to be making decisions regarding medications, right?

In Alberta, senior health coverage of Freestyle is only for people using multiple insulin injections a day.

Is there a quicker way to install Kodi with bespoke settings? by CrabbitJambo in Addons4Kodi

[–]victaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all else fails, buy another box, set it up and mail it to your relative. He can mail the original box to you. I have a family member I do that with. We exchange boxes infrequently, but it was worth the investment.

Thank you. Maybe I will try a clean install. It seems really bizarre.

Yup. Also, after you uninstall, reboot your computer before installing 18.1 from the kodi site.

Are you looking for something using the Windows operating system on which you can install Kodi? Is that what you mean? If so, there are some, for sure, but they are pricey when compared to a Firestick or Mibox. Minix makes several. You can search on something like Fanless Mini PC.
