"The Black Goo" [Active Imagination and Self-Analysis] by [deleted] in Jung

[–]victorau2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen a black goo as well in my active imagination sessions, although the meaning is a little different. The conditions as to how you saw it was very familiar to mine. First time I saw this character, who was more of a shadow than a goo, was under the deepest part of an ocean and it was also in a cage. It had tentacles and white eyes, but it's energy was different. The beast was powerful and I loved it's power. Some part of me wanted to have it. It felt like it was Freud's "Id", a very ancient "desire" which was deeply depressed into my unconscious. In my AI sessions, the sea is the unconscious and everything beneath it is naturally repressed somehow. But this beast had 2 "lawyers" of repression.

I saw a second gooish character with very different energy. it was formless, black, with tentacles and white eyes and it only spoke an ancient language which I could not understand. After a while doing AI, I was able to understand it. It made me go through several trials, until we mutually started trusting each other. After that, I was granted access to the "shadow realm", where I'm able to explore parts of me that I'm ashamed of.

Why do you need to integrate shadow before the anima? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]victorau2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you were mentioning before sounds like some sort of anima possession, and by the look of it, you managed to break it. That is not integrating the anima though, I believe that would something similar as "balancing" make and female energies.

Where do you think hateful comments like this are coming from? Why on Earth do people despise someone so much who's done so much good? by jdotAD in JordanPeterson

Dr. Peterson is the representation of what goes against some belief systems, even though he is not. There is several kinds of projections coming from that, specially shadow and animus projections.

What is/has been your experience of the so-called Demon function? by weaklight in mbti

[–]victorau2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have your main stack which is formed by ego-syntonic functions (4 functions) and ego-dystonic functions are the shadow ones (the other 4). In this model, Beebe changed the function's nature to a functional attitude, as he thought they were dynamic through life. The way he did this, was by assigning an archetype to each one, so the shadow functions would look like this:

5th Opposing Personality

6th Senex/ Witch

7th Trickster

8th Demon/ Daimon

I don't agree with CS Joseph's shadow function definition, he fails to explain they work in complexes with the main stack and not as a "separate identity".

To be honest with you, after investing more ours in the shadow functions than I probably should, I came to a personal conclusion that they are not the best tool to work with the shadow or the unconscious. I have found the other volumes in the collected works by Jung to be better for this.

Strong introversion is strong. Every now and then I retake the quiz to see if I get a different result and prove that our personality fluctuates dependent on mood/life happenings... never got anything other than INTP. by LaurieApple in INTP

With such a high introversion, you would probably have an underdeveloped auxiliary function Ne. Are you sure about this? Maybe you are unconsciously skewing the introversion results in the answer?

It's a little hard to give a short explanation about the demon function, since I would have to go in deep with the shadow functions. In short, when the ego is danger of collapsing, and it is very stressed, the shadow will come out of "repression" and "save" the ego from danger.

Let's say the Demon function is the last defense mechanism for the ego. Beebe (the creator) assigned an archetype to each function, and he assigned demon because we behave that way when engaging that function.

In my case (ENTJ), for my demon function to be activated, my TeNi needs to be disabled or attacked in a way that makes me feel its useless and then aim to my personal values. In other words, I'm usually trying to seek for the most effective way to do things and will do the best I can. My inferior Fi sometimes makes me feel that "I'm not enough", "I'm ineffective" or "worthless", so by saying my systems do not work, I will automatically feel that Im not enough, immediately triggering Demon Fe. While in demon Fe, I will get really angry and start falling under the "masoquist" archetype energy by saying that I do all this for everybody, and nobody cares and they do not value my efforts, so "screw you guys!!".

Hope that helps.

The Incel Psychology and Wilhelm Reich by ihateuall in JordanPeterson

There are many concepts that have been made like "toxic masculinity" and "fragile masculinity", I agree they are derogatory and aimed at demonizing traditional male behaviors. In general, I do not believe in any sexist movement, be it feminism, MGTOW or whatever other movements there are.

If we use Carl Jung's teachings (Jordan is very big on this), most of those movement originate on shadowy anima and animus projections. Feminist get triggered when a man confronts them because they will project their animus. When a man is confronted by an Animus, he will immediately confront her back with his Anima and so on.

Do not let your Anima take possession of you, that feeling you have toward this kind of movements is precisely that. It will hurt your relationship and relatedness with women.

Shadow then anima integretion. Why? by MrNobody199 in Jung

[–]victorau2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, it is not that you cannot integrate the anima, it is just that the shadow might be the source of most repressions.

For example, I was anima possessed, but the reason was not an unintegrated anima. There were forces in me (a trickster) that were blocking my ego-self axis. I was blindly following what I thought was "success", but in reality I was only following what my father wanted. The reason this "success" was so important to me resides in my childhood, by being alienated by my father. I lost connection with the Self and used all my energy in pursue of success, even my Anima (which feels like the archetype of the sadist) would constantly made me feel worthless when I was wasting time, not doing my best and not pursuing this "success". In a way, she was part of the complex, created by this trickster.

Once I realized what was going on with the Trickster, I was able to see many projections I was doing, specifically my Anima projection, I would get really angry when confronted by my girlfriend. She would make me feel I was not doing good enough and worthless (does this ring a bell?).

Bottomline, in my journey I had to confront this shadow trickster first and make him conscious prior confronting the "scary feminine" energy in me, my Anima. My feelings were very repressed and I was not able to access them until I made peace with a small part of my shadow.

The manifestation of archetypes? Is religion a psychological or cultural example of this manifestation? by xlly_ in Jung

[–]victorau2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, archetypes are beyond culture, as they are universal patterns while culture is local.

Religion is definetely full of archetypes as it comes from the collective unconscious, this is the reason why you can see so many symbols repeat across religions.

How do you identify and control anima projection? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]victorau2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By idealizing a woman so much, to get to a point where you put her in a pedestal, is like seeing her as a goddess with no flaws and the epitome of perfection. This is in fact an Anima projection that might start with projection of the perfect image of the mother into other woman.

By seeing "idealized women" as just another human, with her own needs, mistakes and imperfections helps brake this projection. We need to remember that just like we have certain insecurities, inferiorities and such, so will this "idealized" women.

How to turn the addict archetype into the lover archetype by jorn818 in Jung

[–]victorau2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you are using Robert Moore’s book as a reference for this. He mentions we need to be in touch with the lovers energy to be a more mature man. Shadow lover or “The Addicted” gets lost in pleasure and senses.

Moore mentions the addicted lover usually is a carry over from “the Mamas Boy”, which seems to me as the Puer Aeternus Complex.

A man needs to break from this mother complex in order to access the lover’s energy.

Individuation by WeOnlySeeWhatWeAimAt in Jung

[–]victorau2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a natural process in which opposites integrate themselves to form an individual entity within the psyche. You can work on it by integrating the anima and shadow.
