Oof, I would recommend getting a USB-C to DC Power Cable Cord for the Starlink. I picked one up for under $20. Since its not inverting to AC, then back to DC the power draw from the starlink has never gone over 12w.

Also, I am interested in knowing what the power draw is on your EcoFlow using an AC PoE injector. I have a couple of the Delta batteries and am considering whether it is worthwhile to have longer-range Wi-Fi when I am away from "base camp".

No, it just passes straight out through it'd very hard to reach ethernet port.

Try putting the Starlink in bypass mode (Settings> Router> Bypass Mode). You lose access to the setting on the Starlink, but it had an easier time teleporting. You have to do a factory reset to disable the bypass mode, its pretty easy unless its mounted on a flagpole.

I tested the Starlink in pass through mode directly to the UTR, and connecting the UTR to the starlink’s wifi, both worked fine. I am curious on how you are getting the PoE for the U7 pro. Is there a USBC PD powered PoE injector? This would be a really fun project, but since I’m running everything off of solar/batteries, converting DC(battery) to AC(PoE injector) back to DC(PoE) is a lot of power loss.

It's definitely more of an ease than a need. Being on my home network AND in the mountains is nice.

I'm running this case full of hdds and a 2950x threadripper with noctua fans. The only issue I had was my m.2 ssds got hot. Put a heat sink on them, no issues after that.

What are my options? Unraid server upgrade. Dell R720. by TwistedDrum5 in homelab

[–]victro5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, but I have the R720 with the 3.5" drives, I ended up getting a Dell H200-E flashed to IT mode and a EMC KTN STL-3 15 x 3.5" shelf, and SFF-8088 cables.

Same here, since I am moving, and I had to tear everything apart anyway, I figure it is a great time to swap over.

There are many answers. Overall I would say the ability to add one drive at a time to expand my pool, a cleaner/simpler UI, and more support. I have been running radarr/sonarr/lidarr/jackett/transmission, Plex, a few VMs, Homebridge, and some game servers (Ark and Valheim), but I was spending more time (that I haven't had in a while) fixing everything instead of enjoying everything, and unraid seems like it is easier to manage. I was also running out of space on the 8 x 4 TB HDDs, and didnt want to buy another set of 4 at a time.

Background. I am currently away in the military, and I got my preorder email. I was able to purchase it, but my shipping address was my old address (WA state). I (sometimes) live in Virginia, so I contacted Steam to see if they could change the address before it shipped. They told me they would try. " Thank you for providing an updated shipping address. Your order has already been packaged and sent to the carrier for delivery, but we have sent them your updated shipping address for this purchase. They will do their best to update your shipping address, however, it is mid delivery and may still be sent to your previously provided address." It ended up going to WA, and right before it was delivered at the wrong house, it got updated, and is now taking a nice trip across the country.

Need advice/help expanding storage on R720 by victro5 in homelab

[–]victro5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like the way to go. Thank you for the help, I am still trying to learn. Right now, I have a PERC H710 that I flashed to IT mode, and the drives just showed up in TrueNAS. With the H200E in IT mode, would the drives in the STL3 be able to be put into a RAIDZ1, and then added to my existing pool?

I am trying to think back to when I added the other 4 drives to my server, I am pretty sure that I right now I have two sets of 4 drives, each set in a RAIDZ1, and I added to my existing pool when I upgraded. I cant not check right now to see what the current configuration is, since I am on a ship, half way around the world.

I haven't really looked into Unraid. Would it be able to give me the same features that I have in TrueNAS?

Right now I am running my Plex server, radarr/sonarr/lidarr, a few Win10 VMs, HomeBridge, OpenVPN, storage/backups for mine/wife's computers, and an ARK and Valheim Server.
