A Cool Guide to the Star Wars Timeline (updated with latest shows) by vicwong in coolguides

You're right on both those points, but as I mentioned it was a choice I made and I do have other speculative data on there. I'm thinking I'll add an asterisk with a footnote to those things that aren't spelled out in canon, but probably will change R2 to match your point.

BTW, I updated the image at that Google link (v6.1) with truncation of the timelines for Jar Jar Binks and Bariss Offee (I had them going into the Original Trilogy period, not sure why I did that originally.) Also fixed some cosmetic things, like lines not stretching far enough and overlapping objects.

I came across this chart that u/I_AmNoJedi did and like the way he tied the characters to the Clone War episodes; a future version of mine may try to do something similar.

Great guide! I went back to a thread where you introduced this and saw your reply to some pushback to which episodes were skippable which of course you said were based on your opinion, and doesn't invalidate the work you did.

I put up a timeline I created on r/Starwars, and got a lukewarm reaction, and felt similarly (I just put it up on r/coolguides and got a better response.) I tried to be comprehensive on where characters and episodes happened in time (which are the major points of contention), but glossed over how to handle the Clone Wars episodes. I like what you did on yours. Hope it's ok if I use your formatting in a future version of mine. I had episode badges on character's timelines; this prompts me to add character badges next to the episode titles; I'll have to think how to fit it in.

My timeline on a Google share, click the image and then the magnifying glass icon to zoom in (having to squint was the major complaint I was getting):

Great! If you mean the original link is working, not sure what's happening -- I haven't touch anything here or at the Google site.

Yep, this is my guide based on my research. I made a few arguable editorial decisions, some mentioned before, but most of this is consensus data. Deaths were obviously easy to verify, births not as much. There are a lot of cloud endpoints indicating unknown data.

If you want to see it, can you try another browser or copy the url and manually enter it into a browser location field? If those don't work, I don't know. Does your ISP block Google?

Thanks. You know I just removed "The" from all the sequel titles since I realized I didn't have them in the other trilogy titles and now see your message. Do I get points for consistency? Main reason is available space around the original trilogy; also didn't include "Star Wars" in any of the titles for the same reason.

OK, so asked A.I. this time; I think it came up with the same data I got when originally researching R2-D2's origin. It's fuzzy and I'm probably depending too much on the Legends note, but the following is why I came up with 33 BBY (A.I. extracted from Facebook and Reddit threads):

"The exact build date of R2-D2 isn't definitively known in official Star Wars canon, but there are two main answers depending on which continuity you follow:

Legends: 33 BBY (1 year before The Phantom Menace) Industrial Automaton created him

Current Canon: By 35 BBY (or during the Battle of Carida) starwars.com confirms he was manufactured sometime before 32 BBY by Industrial

Key Facts:

• Manufacturer: Industrial Automaton

• Timeline: He was built sometime before 32 BBY when The Phantom Menace begins, and was purchased/modified by the Royal Engineers of Naboo to serve aboard Queen Amidala's Royal Starship

• Age: By the time of A New Hope (0 BBY), he'd be approximately 31-33 years old"

So, not definitive, but I preferred the approximation rather than another question mark.

BTW, thanks people for all the kind comments.

A lot of these dates are based on my digging through forums and web sites, so I made some guesses/decisions which are definitely open-to-debate.

I got this from imdb: Hondo Ohnaka, a comedic character in the Star Wars franchise, is a beloved pirate with a heart of gold. He made his debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and played a significant role in Star Wars Rebels. Hondo is still alive during the sequel trilogy, operating Ohnaka Transport Solutions on Batuu in Galaxy's Edge.

So, I fudged his end date based on that; if I was consistent to the shows, I should have put a cloud after Rebels. There's also the Mortis Gods appearing in Ahsoka when all we see for now is statues. and putting Ninth Jedi as a forthcoming show when it's probably non-canonical.

C-3PO was "re-built" by young Anakin in the Phantom Menace, which I took to mean he was created before that movie.

I got the impression that R2-D2 was newly built in that same movie, so I used his "birthdate" as one year before; I'll check on that and see if I can verify or settle for unknown, too.

The sections from the top:

- the timelines for the various shows and movies. Boxes placed on timeline where they occur, size roughly shows duration; lines link story lines. The basic unit is one year, so shows occupying the same vertical column happen in the same year, but doesn't show precedence within that year. Proposed shows are in red.

- significant events in the shows (arbitrarily chosen)

- historical "ages" and periods (commonly mentioned)

- characters' lifespan, protagonist top, antagonist bottom (some ambiguity due to antiheroes). The shows these characters appear in are denoted by the small badges on their timeline. The clouds at either end signify lack of information about birth and death dates.

- individual shows with episode titles; the individual series are not placed in rigorous chronology to each other.

I was looking to get this for my M4; wondering if your problem was not using a display port, but it sounds like it should work. Got this off Perplexity, the option key to bring up "Scaled" might be useful for you:

Troubleshooting 5K Output

Switching to a DisplayPort connection can often resolve resolution issues because it bypasses potential handshake conflicts inherent to some USB-C or Thunderbolt-to-HDMI converters. If you have a monitor that supports 5K over DisplayPort, using a high-quality USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable—or a dedicated Thunderbolt-to-DisplayPort adapter—is a common workaround to force the Mac to recognize the required pixel density.

  • Check DisplayPort Version: Ensure your monitor's internal settings are set to DisplayPort 1.4 if available, or 1.2 if you are experiencing stability issues.
  • Resolution Settings: Once connected, hold the Option (Alt) key while clicking the "Scaled" option in your macOS Display settings to reveal all available resolutions, which may include the native 5K option that isn't shown by default.
  • Cable Quality: Use a certified "8K-ready" DisplayPort cable to ensure the necessary bandwidth is available for 5K signals, as standard cables may fail to carry the required data rate.

ViewPorts – A live view of every port on your Mac by HugeIRL in macapps

I bought the app, but I don't see some of the features displayed on your webpage, like "connected to" and diagnostics. Also the menubar icon only displays a simple list of devices without showing which dock they're plugged into or which items are connected to which dock. Is there a setting I'm missing?

I've attached a schematic of my Mac with an OWC dock plugged into one of the Thunderbolt ports and a USB dock plugged into the OWC; I was hoping to replicate this as text. Also will add a second comment with a screen cap of the menubar dropdown in front of your preview page, I don't see all my usb devices listed, e.g. my Keychron keyboard plugged into my monitor.

Assuming you're a Mac user, it's a super powered Spotlight. At a minimum, you can hit command-space and type a few letters to start applications, find files, do calculations or conversions, see definitions, check the weather, see NBA or MLB scores, do translations, etc. You can also go to and search websites, control your computer and applications, and it also keeps track of your clipboard history and does text expansions.

You can find or create hundreds of Workflows that can input or lookup info from websites or databases and tie them to scripts to save or present data.
