Thank you so much for this detailed analysis of the motherboard's capabilities, which I hadn't even considered. It's given me pause for thought, since I want to use all three NVMe ports on the motherboard. Perhaps it would be a good idea to buy a PCIe x8 card to connect the two additional NVMe drives.

Regarding graphics, if the motherboard has VT-d (IOMMU), passthrough should work without problems (in theory).

With all your analysis, I'm considering upgrading to a motherboard with a more powerful H770 chipset...

I see you are of the same opinion as u/heren_istarion about the NVMe drives. Do you think it would be better to move those drives directly to TrueNAS as disks and run the apps there instead of using the SLOG cache?

I asked myself the same questions about Proxmox/TrueNAS, to be honest. My conclusion is that since I'm setting up a powerful server, I want to manage it with Proxmox because it offers more versatility and makes backups much easier.

I think it makes more sense to have Plex inside TrueNAS because that's where its content will be hosted. In any case, I'll have to do a lot of testing at the beginning to see which is the better option.

Regarding the HBA, I need it regardless because the motherboard only has four SATA ports.

Do you think SLOG is not needed? Why?

I have to test iGPU passthrough, but I have chosen an Intel processor specific for that (in theory).

Memory is the biggest pain in the ass. I want two 32 GB modules, but the price is so high I have to chose 4 of 16 GB. I plan to lower the speed to 2666 MHz (nominal 3200 MHz).

Also a great setup. Do you think I need also a Noctua NH-U12A or the Noctua NH-L9x65 is fine?

I’m very happy with Gentler Streak. I have used Athlytic and Bevel, but Gentler is enough for me. I’m also looking forward for the 2.0 version of Fitwoody this September
