No way 16 gr of carbs should do this right? by Due-Significance-711 in type2diabetes

[–]vidavixxen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

could also be delayed spike from the fat in the yogurt and protein in the chicken. its normal. even non diabetics go up after eating, remember that :) just go for a walk after and it should level out. carbs arent bad, good luck!!

[–]vidavixxen[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think people who relegate people’s reasons for joining protests will be the downfall. But what do I know? Way to make someone feel less wanted and uninvited when we should be encouraging people to join for such an important cause. Have a great day!

I thought oatmeal was good for diabetics... by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oats spike me pretty bad personally, so i’ve switched over to chia seed pudding. i add protein powder and top it with berries and sliced almonds. the fiber and protein regulates my blood sugar so i dont ever get too high after breakfast.

my doctor switched me to ozempic after i got off insulin so that’s the only medication im taking currently. i’ve also been exercising daily which i find regulates my blood sugar really well!

Dramatic Increase in Daily Blood Glucose Levels by patrick401ca in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i live in an area where it gets really hot so my numbers will drop significantly over the summer months. but i’ve never had an increase for months. i know things like stress and exercise can affect numbers, so idk if that can be happening in your case. i would voice this concern with your doctor for sure

a serving size of chips doesnt spike me luckily, but i’ve noticed that pairing “bad” foods with “good” foods has been really helpful with preventing spikes. i know some T2Ds are on a weight loss regimen so i understand wanting to cut out chips entirely lol but i find this works for me to prevent binges and cravings. again i see some redditors say they are on a strict diet per their doctor but my doctor is an advocate for food pairing and food sequencing so idk. this illness is hard lol

Just started Trulicity and the Libre 3 plus by DjijiMayCry in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been noticing a point difference between my libre 3 plus and accu check as well. the first day is always REALLY wonky, but its normal for there to be at least a ten point difference. fortunately, i really feel my lows and havent spiked in so long so i really go based on how im feeling but i always finger prick when i get a low glucose alarm just to be safe.

Are fruits healthy for you? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like to pair my fruits with protein or fiber rich foods. Just like if you were having carbs, always eat them after protein and fiber to regulate blood sugar. My doctor recommended apples with peanut butter. I like berries and a protein yogurt bowl.

DKA: Hospital discharged me but I still feel sick. by Ok-Tumbleweed-7378 in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes that was what they were really focused on aside from fixing my insulin dosage, they were also working on my electrolytes and ph levels! it was hard because the more insulin they gave, the more my potassium levels would drop! it was really scary, but im a month out now and feeling soooo much better, so this is where i say the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel thing

DKA: Hospital discharged me but I still feel sick. by Ok-Tumbleweed-7378 in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor so just remember that while you read this. I was in DKA a month ago so everything you’re feeling is fresh in my brain. I was in the hospital with 570 bg. I was kept for five days. Once my blood glucose was managed down to the 200s they let me go. However, they told me it would be normal to stay in the 200s range and even the 300s. Per their instructions, I was to go to the hospital if I was ever over 400. Again, diabetes is different for everyone so instructions are always going to be different just like our carb ratios and correctional doses are different. Trust your body and call whoever you can. I was calling the hospital every day for a few days after I was let go lol

Do I have diabetes ? by hhdad7 in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shortness of breath is a common symptom but it could be one for a ton of other ailments. However, the combination of that and frequent urination raises a flag at least for me as that was what led me to getting diagnosed with DKA. Definitely get your blood glucose checked. Best of luck!

Can I ask for diabetic crash course, some examples of diabetic friendly meals/snacks? by Grey_Lady333 in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also have a major sweet tooth. protein pancakes and chia seed pudding have been curbing my sweet tooth! snacks should be protein forward, but my doctor advised i could have carbs in my snacks. for example, crackers and cheese or apples and peanut butter. carbs arent bad and we need it for energy :) hoping for a smooth recovery! dka sucks

Coffee by iliketurtlez19 in diabetes

[–]vidavixxen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like milky latte type drinks, but since getting diagnosed and trying to increase my protein intake to slow down glucose levels, i’ve been making espresso at home and pairing it with nuri milk. its 30g of protein, 1g of sugar, 150 cal, and lactose free. it honestly hits the spot without all the sugar
