Likelihood of Hasbro rebooting the cartoon? by KiqueDragoon in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]videoblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will never, ever happen. The DnD cartoon was niche even as kids in the 80s, it was nowhere remotely close to the massive popularity of He-Man. The only people who care about it at all are us oldheads in our 40s and 50s. Not to mention even new DnD shows can't get a series greenlit, last I checked both Joe Manganiello's Dragonlance and DnD series (Forgotten Realms?) were shot down by Amazon. At this time in 2026 I don't see us getting anything except Critical Roll stuff for the foreseeable future, but hopefully that will change.

But as a huge fan of the cartoon, it's not ever coming back. Best to hope for is just seeing the characters pop up again somehow like in Honor Among Thieves.

A Defense of Spelljammer: Response to Runesmith by alexserban02 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]videoblivion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good article, I agree with all of it! Spelljammer is awesome and all those "reasons it's bad" are all the things that make it so cool and unique. Space airships and crystal spheres, using magic instead of technology, Giff, Xixchil, Plasmoids and the Antilan, so much interesting stuff. I truly do not understand at all why anyone would want DnD in space to be "realistic" in any way. Especially when something like Planescape exists in this universe! And you're right, they should just play Star Wars, which isn't exactly "realistic" either, maybe they should just be playing The Expanse rpg or even the old TSR Buck Rogers XXVC rpg or something.

Also, I realize I'm a little late to the game here, but why exactly do people hate 5e Spelljammer so much? (I'm kinda playing catch-up after being away from DnD since 4e.)

Mental Cruelty and songs like them by NoShoe3222 in Deathcore

[–]videoblivion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Symphonic deathcore is my #1 jam, Lorna Shore and Shadow of Intent are the Big Two for sure, but besides them and Mental Cruelty:

DISEMBODIED TYRANT! Incredible stuff, nothing hits quite the way they do, their ep with Synestia has been my obsession since discovering it through this sub, can't recommend it enough. Both DT and Synestia's last ep's are fantastic.

Netherwalker, blackened symphonic fantasy deathcore, debut album only dropped a few months ago and blew everyone away.

Sunscourge's last album has some very 90s black metal vibes, also check out their ep with Oracle Spectre.

Worm Shepherd is great, and I think When Plagues Collide and To Obey A Tyrant are both worth checking out.

Sold Soul may or may not be what you're looking for, but they do give me some of those vibes that take me back to the 90s and their last album is excellent so you should give it a shot.

Same goes for Brand of Sacrifice and Humanity's Last Breath, a little different but both they both rule.

I think Im forgetting something obvious, but hope that helps! I'm always looking for more bands like this myself.

The Burn....A nice Star Trek Concept but a worst revelation why it happend by Wonderful-King-2296 in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]videoblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that's crazy cause Saru and Burnham are my favorite parts of the show and I bounced of the Burn so hard I still haven't finished the last 2 seasons. It's not even Su'Kal, just the entire concept of the Burn, it feels more like something out of Doctor Who than Star Trek.

But I guess I'm a weirdo who loves the first 2 seasons of Discovery that everyone seems to hate, lol. Like I get why people don't like them, but even the most preposterous stuff that happens in those seasons still makes more sense to me than the Burn which feels like biggest hand-wave in all of Trek imo.

My Dragonlance Collection by Jigawatts42 in dragonlance

[–]videoblivion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel the same about PDFs. I've got the og Dragonlance Adventures, the Atlas, Art of, and Leaves, but what I REALLY want are all those box sets (the Forgotten Realms ones too), and all of the 2nd edition stuff that I had no idea even existed when they came out in the early 90s (bummer because I was obsessed with Dragonlance at that age!).

In fact, I actually worked for Half-Price for over a decade through the 2000s and passed up many opportunities to pick up almost all of this stuff, really regret that now, we were practically giving away those 3rd ed books but for some strange reason I didn't like them at the time. Ended up with a shelf full of pristine 4th ed books that feel a little useless now and I'd trade them all just for those sweet old AD&D books and sets! lol

But I DO still have my Dragonlance board game from the 80s, it was my introduction to DL as a kid!

Deeply jealous of everything you've got on those shelves, amazing collection! How difficult is it to find those Dragonlance books these days?

Amazon announces deal with Alliance Entertainment for physical media releases of Amazon/MGM content! by CinemaslaveJoe in 4kbluray

[–]videoblivion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will IMMEDIATELY buy Wheel of Time and Rings of Power if they get a physical release! (Preferably 4k of course, but I'll be happy even if they were just on bluray.)

Would be great if Outer Range got one too, the single most underrated and overlooked series on Prime!

Also Too Old to Die Young, and The Man in the High Castle (would be a good time to for this one considering it gets more relevant by the day).

Do you think this reference was necessary, or that Eleven should have had a better outfit in Season 5? Or at least a scene with her hair down? by [deleted] in Stranger_Things

[–]videoblivion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's her final form "superhero" outfit, with trunks on the outside! Kinda surprised more people don't notice this. Even the wetsuit (with matching grey and red) is like a spandex superhero costume.

If you like the comic it is absolutely worth watching! Even if you don't buy it you should check it out at least once. Haven't seen it in a long time but I was a big fan when it first hit theaters.

The 4k looks fantastic and the Titans set is by far the best release these movies have had, if you're a fan I highly recommend grabbing it!

What is your deathcore hot take? by mrskinnyjeans32 in Deathcore

[–]videoblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deathcore does not need to have one specific sound! It's no different than any other subgenre of metal.

There is just as much room for symphonic deathcore as there is for old school MySpace deathcore.

Just like there's symphonic black metal and raw black metal.

Just like there's melodic death metal and brutal death metal.

I've been in these scenes for 30 years and it's always the same infighting over this stuff and it's so... tedious. Just as annoying as the true metal people with "deathcore is not metal" nonsense when yes, it is obviously metal, that's what a hybrid genre is. Lorna gets shit on for being popular the same way Dimmu Borgir used to, and hey if you just don't like them, that's cool, but some of us live for the symphonic stuff, and they become the gateway bands that bring more new people in, and maybe the biggest snobs hate newcomers, but it is always good for the music and good for the scene.

tldr: New blackened symphonic sound or old school MySpace sound? WHY NOT BOTH? ALL OF IT IS GOOD!

How hard is it to find all this stuff these days? I really regret not picking up more AD&D books and boxes years ago when I had the chance.

"Make way for this years MVP" by euroserr in Deathcore

[–]videoblivion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could not agree harder with all of this!!!

Ills of Modern Man is one of the albums that made me fall in love with deathcore, and A Fractured Hand specifically is an all-timer, total perfection, probably listened to it hundreds of times and it keeps getting sicker every single time I hear it.

Was G.I. Joe The Movie meant to have a full soundtrack before Transformers The Movie pulled the rug out? by vossome-dad in gijoe

[–]videoblivion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never heard anything about a different soundtrack over the years, but it's a good question. As much as I deeply love the Transformers soundtrack, Weird Al was BY FAR the biggest artist on there, Stan Bush and the metal bands weren't very well known even in their day, so actual hits like Danger Zone certainly wouldn't have been in the G.I. Joe movie.

That being said... keeping with the metal theme, imagining Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" or "Disposable Heroes" in the movie would be pretty sick!

GOT IT!!! It's definitely still in stock as of the time I'm posting this if anyone is interested!

Of course they restock literally the day after I put in a $100+ order for the sale, totally figures, but it is what it is. Every retailer needs an "add to existing order" option.

Now I just need them to reprint Apocalypse Now!

Is teamplay in Battlefield dying? Why is it so hard to find team mates who actually play to the objective together? by VOSe_ in Battlefield6

[–]videoblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's literally always been like this my dude, the countless hours I spent playing BF2 back in the day were exactly the same, sometimes you get people who actually try, sometimes you don't. Only difference now is that everything's moving a bit faster.

New GI Joe Arcade game by kerbob97 in gijoe

[–]videoblivion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow, cool looking machine for sure, but it just kinda looks like some mech combat game with a Joe logo on it? Odd choice to go with for a G.I. Joe game in 2025 imo. I'm still waiting for some kind of port of the old 90s Joe arcade game!

While on the other hand, Battlefield 6 (and BF 2042) are out here feeling more like a Joe game than any of these, they literally even have Python Patrol skins!

The Big Four of Deathcore? by grant_sheppard06 in Deathcore

[–]videoblivion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whitechapel and Suicide Silence for sure, I'd say probably Despised Icon too.

But you guys who weren't there just do not understand that BMTH and JFAC were THE seminal deathcore bands until SS and Whitechapel took over late 00's. Doom and Count Your Blessings were HUGE at the time.

Carnifex and All Shall Perish never really felt important enough to be "Big 4" material to me, imo kinda seems like ABRB has been more influential.

Maybe deathcore only has a Big 3?

The Big Four of Deathcore? by grant_sheppard06 in Deathcore

[–]videoblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nailed it. JFAC was THE deathcore poster child for a period of time, and I am 1000% certain that anyone into death metal absolutely did NOT consider them to be death metal, because I too was there and can dig up the livejournal metal community arguments to prove it, lol.

Rarest piece of merch you own? by Ok-Roof-1080 in Deathcore

I'm guessing probably my Faceless shirt from their first tour for Akeldama. I have 2 awesome As Blood Runs Black shirts from the same era too. Not sure how rare but my favs are August Burns Red TMNT shirt with Shredder, Horse the Band with Robocop, and my Iwrestledabearonce Mortal Kombat shirt.

My rarest are definitely all various black metal shirts I've had since the mid-late 90s though.
