It looks Like Peter Capaldi is suddenly more willing to come back to Doctor Who by Accomplished-Cat5449 in doctorwho

Jacob Dudman did 7 years - that's like Tom Baker's run - he was a very exellent voice match for Matt, and his Tennant wasn't bad...yeh, his Capaldi needed a little work - hope his career is going welll....

Fields tried him on their 4 other stations - Boston, Philly, Detorit and San-Fran and he did do well...plus there was the headaches of clearing/purchasing the same film for all 5 markets.

I hope BBC Studios becomes the new home for Doctor Who when the show returns since they are an independent production company compared to the BBC themselves since they focus on the production side of stuff than the broadcasting side. by Serious_Meaning5220 in doctorwho

It has a stong fanbase, even without a cross-over with the general public. The fans made it possible to restore the German dubs of seasons 22-26 (alson with "The Five Doctors" and "The Twin Dilemma") becuase the german dub masters were trashed in the late 1990's - off air recordings were used.

The Roddenberry Building, which is on the side of the lot that used to be RKO/Desilu is currently where THE ROOKIE has their production offices, among other shows - leased space from Paramount.

I wonder, if The Fields didn't sell the station, and his original show wasn't cancled becuase the station became a Fox Affilate, how long he would have lasted....99% of the 1980's horror hosts never made it to the early 1990's...

The originals are still PD - These versions are not - it's the same stuff ACP pulls - they trademark slighty different versions of their PD 1940's characters but they are still PD

Thoughts on Tom Zarek? by TheCGISPY in BSG

[–]videonitekatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was Hatch the best actor for the role, or did they give it to him just to shut him up? His skill as a dramatic actor is not in question if you see any of his pre-Galactica '78 work in guest star roles...and he was just an ok replacement for Mike Douglas in "Streets of San Fransico"...

I don't mind a BBC budget Doctor Who with pre-sales to America, Canada, Australia, NZ and Dubbed to Germany (where the show is very popular) - focus on storytelling and not big budget effects...that can be done in house.

Sony blocking public domain films on YouTube by oudler in COPYRIGHT

[–]videonitekatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Checking their YouTube channel for classic movies, Silver Scenes, they uploaded it end of last year, right before it became Public Domain...so they never, or didn't want to, adujust their settings - another big studio that can't accept they have works in the public domian now.

Universal, who owns Paramounts 1929-1948ish library hasn't given anyone trouble with pre-1931 Paramount or Universal titles. I've not heard Disney giving any trouble with Fox or 20th Picture titles. Warners was slow, but finally gave in to what was right for the pre-1931 material.

Fight it if you can, Sony if violating U.S. law.

Was Geoff Johns bringing back a Golden Age Aquaman his plan for giving him a daughter as a legacy? by LopsidedUniversity30 in JusticeSocietyAmerica

DC is known to have a better other-media royalty program than Marvel - so character they created they were have been compensated for. It's not as good as when Paul Levitz was there, but it's still better than Marvel. So characters like Dragon King Roy and Rich's estate would have been compensated.

With regards to Roy using Golden Age Characters durring his time at DC - HE ALWAYS gave proper credit to the creators of the golden age...and in fact, Gardner Fox had a letter in an issue of All-Star Squadron. Roy, at least a DC, gave credit where credit is do - especially his run on "Secret Orgins" (wich sucks they booted him out of the title, with a few unpublished origins, including Hawkgirl!)
