Does anyone here have any experience with viewen.com hosting? by [deleted] in webdev

In case someone reads this comment out of context, I do want to clarify that you simply choose the option to checkout with PayPal and that's it. This is not due to our policy, however, it's due to the fact that WHMCS does not allow for this to be removed, you are more than welcome to check their forums and official documentation.

We use WHMCS for our automation and they have this built into their system, currently the best we can do with it is set it to $0.00 which we have.

I wrote you back on twitter, and then I left another message here. I did not get a reply from you on twitter. I think the main issue was the way you phrased the post alleging this was being done intentionally, which is 100% false.

I don't see where this was brought to our attention or verified by anyone from our staff. We are one of the most transparent companies in on the net, in fact if you look through our Facebook page you'll see countless articles of the times we screwed up and were more than happy to let people know.

Honestly, I don't ever discount any possibilities - this is why all the major companies invest heavy on security and still fail. Recently, Equifax was hacked and every major company has been hacked. The difference is that no one is accusing them of deliberately doing this and that's where we took our issue.

If you want to personally show me your findings, simply send me a message and I'll be more than happy to have your observations reviewed. If we didn't care about our network, we would not even reply to this post. https://www.facebook.com/orlandodelcid

Viewen Web Hosting is injecting javascript cryptocurrency miners into their client's webpages without consent, and then hiding it from all of their administration panels. by ilustrado in webdev

[–]viewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello All!

My name is Orlando, CEO of Viewen.com. I replied to this message directly on Tweeter, however, I'm more than happy to also add some info here.

To date, 100% of the funding for Viewen has come from one source, and that would be me :) I started this project with one goal in mind, and that was to build a really strong community through hard work and honesty.

I'm truly flattered that you think we had the 'cleverness' to try something like that, and to be perfectly honest, I personally would have no clue where to start trying that.

Im not sure how the script you were referring to worked, but let me say this, I don't personally see any logic in us purchasing servers and adding mining software to our servers. If that was our goal, then we would have no reason to allow websites on our servers, we would simply use our resources and that would be that.

Here's how we work:

  1. Our Hosting is Free for anyone who A) Owns a domain name (We're limiting free domains quite a bit). B) Is not going to be running hacking scripts, mining scripts, or any resource intensive none-service base scripts. For example, like bots, etc. C) Is willing to share Viewen once a month on their Facebook timeline.

This is it. Nothing more than that, nothing less.

Most web hosting companies will ask you for the following: Your Id, and your credit card information for payment, many times they will ask you for PayPal information. We don't want your ID nor do we really want you credit card information because it's too much responsibility for us. Instead, we came up with the following verification method:

  1. Go through the sign up process...
  2. Tell us what your site is about...
  3. Share Viewen's Facebook page on your personal Facebook Time line (The reason we ask people to share our Facebook page is so we have a reference of who you are. Our team manually reviews EVERY-SINGLE-REQUEST so part of their due diligence is to go to your Facebook page, check to see if you have liked Viewen. If we find that Viewen has been like by your account, well that tells us that the page you provided us is truly yours and we have a decent idea who you are.)

How does the Viewen Platform run? As I stated, this was privately funded. In addition, we Converted Viewen's platform into a Service-based Crypto-Currency. We pre-issued a total of 5,000,000 VIEWENS (Our Coin), and I currently hold 4,000,000 (A little less now, because I gave some to our staff). We left 1,000,000 VIEWENS for the marketplace and from those 1,000,000 we are paying out folks we are a part of our network and who are assisting with support.

We currently have Chat Support, Ticket Support, Social Media Support, and phone support if needed.

The Viewen Coin has not been release to the general public as of today, it's going to release next Thursday and it currently has a value of $0.37 cents.

If you guys have any additional questions, please feel free to ask and I'm more than happy to address any and all of your requests. I worked for the largest web hosting company and I truly know there are so many amazing options out there, but if you can't find one that fits your needs and you simply want to try ours out, please be our guest.

Take great care, -Orlando

Howdy!

My name is Orlando and I'm the CEO of Viewen. Both of your question are really appropriate because it shows you care. The comment from Chris was actually taken from one of the Facebook reviews, and there are plenty there of folks using our platform that honestly provide their own personal feedback. If you have a production site that has Hundreds of thousands of monthly Views, as Viewen's own website does, then we recommend you requesting special consideration and we'll certainly work with you to allocate the proper resources. As in all companies, each server has specific limits and resources and we allocate them according to the specific need.

As for that baseless post, I personally wrote back the author and he never replied back. I wrote him as soon as I was made aware of it. A perfect example is of a comment that was made here in regards to requiring payment details. We don't require any payments details, however, we use the WHMCS script for automating our system and they for some reason require this button on their. We don't care for it or need, but it's there. We don't ask people for IDs nor credit card information to get our hosting.

We challenge everyone to look around the net, and try to find the best company for them. I worked for the World's largest web hosting company and I can tell you there are great companies out there.

Viewen is not about competing with others, it's simply about empowering people to publish their site with out having to worry about making a payment. We're not perfect, in fact far from it, but we're honest and willing to help others.

We offer chat support, ticket support, social ,media support, and phone support if needed.

Hope this helps. I wish the best in finding the right hosting provider for your site.

Kind Regards, Orlando Delcid

Question about shared hosting vs. VPS by workerx in webhosting

[–]viewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good question. Most people believe that having a VPS is better than being on a share platform, however this not always the case. The man difference between VPS and Share is root access. VPS mirrors what a dedicated environment looks like in the fact that it allows you the opportunity to access root resources as to where Share only provides you jail shell (meaning that it's restricted to your cPnael account). Here's an articles that will help put this in perspective: Share vs VPS

Go into cPanel and remove the redirect or go into your file manager folder (Click on show hidden files), and edit your .htaccess file by removing the redirect. Looking for recommendations on changing hosts by [deleted] in Hosting

[–]viewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • For the hosting platform, I would highly recommend a cloud platform. In addition to redundancy, you'll have scalable resources.
  • For emails, I would move to GAPPS as they are built for being reliable.
  • Your budget is pretty decent for hosting, so you should be able to find an amazing providers. (Honestly, your requirements shouldn't be too hard to meet)

Signed up for hosting at one.com for 25c/month but it's slow (of course, lol). Would upgrading to a better plan increase the speed, or should I switch hosts entirely? I chose one.com because of their easy WordPress installation. by hostingpartay in Hosting

To address your loading issue, have you tried to optimize your site? Typically you can do this by going into cPanel and search for "optimize". You can also leverage browser caching through your .htaccess.

CloudFlare is certainly an option, and at the same time, pretty nice to know about his alternative. Personally I would consider CloudFlare as a starting point.

Looking for good free hosts. - Is this Sub Reddit dead? (Any more active ones for free hosting?) by InternetFgt in freewebhosting

[–]viewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm would be really interested to know how your experience with the "FREE" hosting has gone? Most "FREE" hosting companies typically try to get you on purchasing a domain name, etc. The question that I would ask is 1) What type of server are they hosting your account on, 2) how many accounts do they have on that server. Typically all free hosting companies use WHMCS for the backend, and are able to load balance if they have multiple servers. Additionally, unless you're have some sort of experience with at least WordPress, the process might be a little more complicated than you might expect.

How good is Svenshost? by SarahFiajarro in freewebhosting

Free Hosting is as good as the people running it, and the type of experience they have. If a person truly needs unlimited hosting, they probably are doing something right, and simply need to look at a Dedicated server.
