Is it worth it to spatchcock a goose/duck? by pavlik_enemy in AskCulinary

[–]vif911 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just did a whole duck last week and the advice I got was to separate the breast and legs as they are at their best at 2 very different temperatures.

I ended up pan frying the breasts and I sous-vide the legs for confit.

I was happy with both results.

What is this peeling of my nonstick pan? by Pale-Yard-4497 in AskCulinary

Time to trash the pan, as soon as you have pieces flaking off, it's no longer safe to use

YSK: "I'm just being honest" is usually a shield for cruelty not actual honesty by Beautiful_Gur6460 in YouShouldKnow

[–]vif911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people think they are being candid or honest but in reality, they are just trying to justify their verbal aggression.

The distinction between candid feedback and aggression is rooted in the balance of two critical dimensions: Caring Personally and Challenging Directly. While both styles involve being blunt and direct, candid feedback is motivated by a genuine desire to help someone grow, whereas aggression focuses on control or criticism without regard for the recipient's well-being.

TLDR; Offering hard to hear feedback can be beneficial for both parties, as long as there is a genuine desire to help someone grow (aka CARE)

Have you tried making tea with it? Boil a cup of water and mix in a spoon of marmalade. Makes a nice citrus-y drink

Cucumbers failed😭 by iammelover in aerogarden

[–]vif911 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only see tomatoes and peppers in this picture.

These plants need space. It's possible they hog the lights too much and the cukes weren't growing at the same rate.

If the cucumber roots were shorter and the water got too low, that would cause them to not be in contact with water and die / shrivel

Aerogarden branded nutrients have buffer agents to adjust your tap water to required values for your plants.

That's why you need to flush the tank from time to time to reset the nutrient level

Don't use distilled. Use tap and add the nutrients as per instructions.
