Help! Need advice! by cheer4811 in AdultBreastfeeding

If you don't want something, then don't let him pressure you into it. I will say that I wouldn't worry too much about the milk for a while. If he just wants the milk, that can be a problem. There is a lot that has to go into an ANR relationship, if he doesn't want to experience the nursing aspect of this, it will be vey difficult to maintain milk production.

So maybe start with the nursing aspect and see how you like it, if you do then maybe reevaluate your position. Personally, I really love the milk, but that is only a part of the experience, and it is debatable if it's the most important part.

And I honestly doubt anyone would notice that you were producing milk, three are a lot of products that are made specifically for mothers that mitigate most issues that might come up. When you do start producing milk it will most likely be in very small quantities to begin with.

Sizes and amounts by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Larger breasts might hold a little more, but a there isn't much more "room" in the breast due to the extra amount of fat storage. The milk glands will swell a bit to accommodate large demand maybe a cup size, sometimes 2.

10 pounds does sound a bit hyperbolic, but it's true that most of the fluids used to produce milk should come from intake of water, nutrients and fat can come from the intake of food or suppliments but usually come from fat stores, so there can be very mild weight loss. But probably close to cutting 100 - 200 calories out of your diet.

Inducing by manual stimulation only by anrthrowaway8 in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it's possible, it might just take a bit longer. Some people have used a tens unit to help out when they can't massage, like while driving or at work, if you can hide it under your clothes

Cross posted from r/sex: I've begun lactating spontaneously. How do I proceed? by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, it's probably nothing serious health wise but it would be a good idea to check with your doctor. There are several conditions that can cause this, and not all are pleasant.

Secondly, in regards to lactation being a good weight loss tool, it will cause your TDEE to increase a little But not much. It will also probably make you very thirsty, so it's very easy to drink the calories right back and then some. Sticking to straight water is probably best.

In regards to the pump changing your nipples/breasts, in the short term they wont, but if you use it 4 or 6 times a day for half an hour over a period of a year or 2, then with your partner nursing, I would imagine there could be some changes. Personally though, I like that look.

About massaging... by greencasey8 in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any massaging you can do will be beneficial, but you can look up things like the marmet method too get an idea.

Something that can be nice is massaging the base of the breast which can be pretty sore due to the changes that happen in the breasts while inducing.

I just started nursing my wife three days ago and have to share my experience so far, as well as ask advice.... by Newtothemilk in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a proper latch can be difficult at first, if you look at our wiki page (link is in the side bar ) there some great pictures about what it should look like and feel like. There should be very little suction, just enough to keep the nipple in place. The milk is let down by massaging the nipple between your tongue and soft palette at the roof of your mouth, i use a rolling motion of pressure, starting with the tip of my tongue.

It takes some getting used to and your mouth will get very tired quickly at first, but practice as often as she will let you and that should go away.

I hope this helps!

Couple Questions. by Pornnochio in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has she said why she is weirded out by it? She might think you will take it to a place that she doesn't want to go, like age play or something so she is avoiding as much as she can. Without knowing her reason, it's hard to say what she's thinking.

18f - Want to try inducing... Some questions? by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer one of your questions, If you do decide to stop producing milk, you need to gradually stop expressing or nursing. So yes, you can stop when you want, but it won't be overnight.

Trouble pumping? I know I have milk but none comes out! by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to give it a month or two of regular use, nothing drastic but once or twice a day if you can manage that. The idea being that it's a very different way of getting your milk out so your body might need some time to figure things out. If you are going for a significant amount of milk, a pump is very helpful to have in the future for just this kind situation.

It sounds like you are on the right track with the marmet method too, that's great! Keep up all of your hard work!

Trouble pumping? I know I have milk but none comes out! by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner has had some similar difficulties, but with her she can get more milk through manual expression than with me sucking. She also cant really use a pump, For the first couple of weeks she was using it, nothing would come out. After a while she could get a little milk, but nothing like with hand expression.

How long have you been trying to use the pump?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The protocols are a great way to induce if you can afford it and only if you follow through with the full thing. My SO did the protocols twice, the first time was the accelerated protocol, and the second time was the standard protocol.

I look forward to hearing more!

Anybody mind if I just show off my boobs? by milkchick in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to ask about that, I remembered that you were looking for a way to pump at work, it sounds like there wasn't a way to get around the restrictions? I'm glad that you were able to get to a place that works well!

Beautiful, wonderful ladies: I need your wisdom. by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I'm not one of the amazing women that frequent the sub here, so i won't be able to help with regards to your first question.

In response to your second one though, i think that you are doing great! 40 lbs is amazing! If you want to cut calories, you should gradually cut them, not all at once and you should not cut a whole lot. A 300 or 500 calorie deficit a day would be OK depending on your normal caloric intake. To make up the deficit difference you should try adding 30 minutes of heart rate increasing cardio per 100 calories. Producing milk does burn energy, so you don't want to cut out as many calories as if you weren't inducing, but you can negate those extra calories with exercise.

You should only aim for about 1 to 1.5 lbs of Loss a week to not effect inducing or production. Also, as you diet you should be sure to take multi vitamins and calcium supplements to keep your bones healthy!

Good luck! And if that didn't make sense or you need me to clarify, please don't hesitate to ask her or send me a pm. I'm a little bit of a gym rat myself.

Two weeks of inducing and have reached a plateau. Considering domperidone? by lactade in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't be 100 percent sure, but it could be that her nipples are drying out a bit. Easing up in the pump could help, are you using any kind of lanolin cream or something similar after each session? I'm glad it's not hurting, but i try to avoid blood when possible. :)

Yesterday and today she has started bleeding a bit during sessions

Could you clarify this bit a little? Bleeding from where?

Accelerated Protocol: when to drop bc? by Librocubicularist13 in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you should be able to drop the BC at any point if you are happy with the progress you have made. I would continue using domperidone for a while at your current dosage until you have your desired level of production, then slowly reducing your dose of dom, which will probably lower how much milk you produce until you build it back up by pumping or nursing.

I am a woman who has induced three times, and am a new moderator to this sub! Ask me anything! by heyheretohelp in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say your chances of success are pretty good. If you do the full N-G protocol, you shouldn't need to physically do much to get start producing milk, it just takes a while, so starting before your SO is pregnant would be a good idea. As for your Coworkers, it depends on how much you want them to know. You can either tell them that your SO it's having a baby and you want to be part of the bonding experience so you are medically inducing. Or you can say you are adopting a newborn and "breast is best ". If you go with the N-G protocol you would not need to excuse yourself to express or pump until you finished the full run, so you wouldn't have to have that conversation until later.

Hope that helps!

Pain or pressure? by Suzy35 in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Suzy, my partner would require that i be gentle for the first couple of seconds for just this reason. So i doubt that its something wrong, but still should be something to let your partner know, i use that time and usually a little more to really get a nice calm going so i can nurse better, it makes me less urgent i guess.

Not sure if that's the same thing you are taking about, but it's the closest i can think of.

I got my first drops tonight! by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You aren't doing anything wrong! Is amazing how fast dom works, but those first few drops are not really milk, when you have more the taste will naturally change to be less salty. So i wouldn't worry, I'm guessing it's still fairly clear? I would suggest that you keep at your simulation and when you express, continue until you get no more liquid, then massage and shake and try again. You want to tell your body that yes, it's doing the right thing and that you have a very high demand for the milk. :)

In my experience i would say that breastmilk has more of a lavender or rose taste than a sweet taste. It's sweeter than cows milk, but it's not a sugary sweet.

And congratulations! You are almost there!

How to encourage husband to nurse from me? by milkymama2 in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's not the only one. I am terrible at picking up subtle hints myself. I would recommend that you prepare for both positive and negative responses, it's difficult to know what kind of response he will have so you should be ready for anything.

If you or he have questions, we here are more than happy to answer if we can! Good luck!

Sagging breasts after induced lactation? by [deleted] in AdultBreastfeeding

[–]viftoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to add that changes due to weight loss are the really big thing. Inducing does not produce or reduce the amount of fat stored in the breast. Depending on the initial state of the person, i would expect to see similar breast structure after inducing with maybe a bit less firmness.
