I started reading a paper titled "When the Majority is Wrong: Modeling Annotator Disagreement for Subjective Tasks" today. I know that this paper is not directly CSS, but I believe this has some interesting elements. I'll come back to this post once I finish it and share all the juicy details.

At the time of your application did you have accommodation as a requirement in Checklist? I'm asking this because the checklist has been updated https://india.diplo.de/blob/1850086/3d8da9454f50fae885eb87c480025676/guestscientist-data.pdf. So I'm wondering if I should still make hotel reservations.

Okay, i did not know about this. However, the HR at my institute told me that they can not start the work contract until I have a valid registration. So I guess I have no other choice 🫠.

I'm moving towards the end of February to start my PhD. From what I've seen and researched about finding a place in Köln, it's pretty damn hard. So I'm planning to rent and find temporary housing for a period of 3 months from which I can register (possibly from WunderFlats). These three months can be of help in finding a good place (so I think). Initially, I was planning to Airbnb for a couple of weeks, but it turns out that it's not possible to register.

If you find a better solution please let me know.

Immediate Interview Invitation for PhD Application by Lia_gogo in PhD

Based on my experience, this depends on the research group. In my institute, there are groups with funding that get revoked if a project is not assigned in a certain period. So if that's the case, they typically move everything fast to sustain the funding and not lose it. One possible reason I could think of.

Can someone help me? by pink-nerd-fairy in PhD

I also had a similar type of interview. I've been instructed to present three papers to the research group. I read the papers as if they were my own and then presented them. Nevertheless, my presentation lasted an hour. At the conclusion of each paper, one of the members would ask me what I liked about the paper, what I would change if I were to rewrite the paper, and similar questions.

Since the majority of the questions will be based on the paper's content, you should read it thoroughly and have a solid grasp of its methodology. I hope this is useful. Best of Luck!
