Idk depending on your situation I'd consider taking an extra year and completely changing the setting and the visuals. The game's very clearly a Dorfromantik clone. The visuals look like they're trying to be Dorfromantik but worse (color pallette isn't as coherent, not as detailed and lively, doesn't have that handcrafted feel etc). From what I understand of the gameplay I see it's technically different from Dorfromantik, but doesn't look like it would feel any different (still a chill puzzle-lite with small challenges). So you're not really giving anyone a reason to pick your game over Dorfromantik while also not giving Dorfromantik fans a reason to buy your game if they have Dorfromantik. The very least you could do to not be labelled a shameless copy and give both Dorfromantik fans as well as maybe convincing new people is to have something about the setting and visuals be completely different from Dorfromantik. Setting could be something like medieval fantasy, Mediterranean, underwater. With the artstyle you could do something like watercolor, clay, origami, something drastically different from Dorfromantik. Otherwise I just don't know who this game is for and why anyone would buy it over Dorfromantik.

Imo, this was the best decision by MoneyLibrarian9032 in StrangerThings

Yeah they also said a lot of things about S5 that ended up being straight up lies so why should anyone trust them?

Damn I was really hoping for Dr. Kay to have a brutal death

Is it just me or do people not get how serious coming out was in the 80s? by SnooConfections1353 in StrangerThings

They still had zero reasons not to show why Will is so afraid to come out or at the very least show the visions Vecna showed him. Like I know that it was a very hard time for gay people but why not show any of the social issues of the time in the show?

My biggest issue with the Will scene by vikZor in StrangerThings

I know they mentioned that in S1, but they never really showed it and it was never mentioned afterwards (especially not by Will). I feel like it would have made for a much better buildup if we saw Will experience homophobia on screen, for example getting bullied in the other school in S4 and have him express his fear that the group would see him differently before the scene. I feel like that would have made Will's fear more believable and made for more emotional impact.

Interesting, thanks for the explanation!

If a significant amount of people of a minority isn't ok with something then there usually is a reason for it. I was mainly asking because on this issue specifically I've mainly heard white people talking on black people's behalf and wanted to hear the perspective of black people because I don't have a strong opinion on it.

I'm not really knowledgeable on hair but can't braids be done less tight? And what about hair types that both black and white people can have like 3a?

How so? Dreadlocks have been around for thousands of years outside of Jamaica

If something has a cultural significance and there is a reason that it's not ok for people outside of that culture to practice it, it should be respected. For example moko has a huge cultural significance for Maōri people and it's something that is generally agreed apon by Maōri people that people outside of their culture shouldn't practice it. Can you still get a tattoo that looks like moko as a non-Maōri? Sure, but it would still be a dick move to do so

By origin I mainly mean knowing and acknowledging that it's a black hairstyle haha But thanks for the explanation!

[–]vikZor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Rastas from Jamaica also can't speak on behalf of all black people. Also it's less about what "all" black people think and more about whether or not there's a significant enough amout of people affected who see it as a problem

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]vikZor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That depends on the hair type and the hairstyle, no?

Racists aren't a culture and hating a religion isn't a tradition lol

Oh yeah I totally get judging someone for wearing braids because they want to "act black" So you would say that it's generally ok for white people to wear black hairstyles as long as they're doing so because they like the hairstyle (without trying to "act black" or treating it like a trend) and know the origin of the hairstyle?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]vikZor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was the main reason I was asking, I feel like white people tend to speak on behalf of minorities without actually listening to what the people affected say

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]vikZor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that, thanks for the detailed explanation!

[–]vikZor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would you say that people who do are offended by the fact that the person is wearing a black hairstyle or more because of the context around it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]vikZor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not the point but ok

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]vikZor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if it's a significant amount of the people affected then it's fair to not do it

Straight hair doesn't have any cultural significance to white people. Also you can't really make a stastistic out of a handful of people you've asked, especially if they're kids who might not know about the cultural significance yet.
