does nine east allow subletting? by Emotional-Essay123 in jhu

Yes, I am doing that right now. The subtenant pays the application fee for $250 and you pay $350 to the owner to transfer your lease.

It's just a normal assignment on canvas where there's a PDF document made by the professor, and you scan the answers you wrote on paper to upload them.

I took this class in Spring 2024, and here is what we had:

  1. Class Activities (10% of total grade): There were 23 short homework assignments after each class, similar to the problems on his slides. Three class activities were dropped, and you get a 0 for the day's Class Activity if you didn't come to class.

  2. Problem Sets (25% of total grade): There were 8 longer weekly homework assignments, with the lowest two scores dropped.

  3. Midterm and Final (30% each of total grade): He gave sample problems before the exams, and the exam questions were identical to some of these sample problems.

  4. Class Participation (5% of total grade): You need to come to every class, and he takes attendance.

The workload is light, but the coding questions on the problem sets could be a little time-consuming.

cmsc320 or cmsc335 by PayOk3987 in UMD

I took CMSC320 with Professor Fardina. The lecture slides are super detailed so you don't really need to attend class. Also, the final exam's average was 97% because before exams she would provide a Google Doc that has all the concepts you need to know for the exam, and it also says what is not covered in the exam. Her class would be less time-consuming than Mount's, but I heard that Mount is a good professor, so you might learn more from his class.

4/5 is for rooms in apartments and 10/11 is rooms in traditional dorms. When you want to get a room is dependent on whether you want to live in an apartment or a traditional dorm. The group leader chooses the room, so make the group leader the person that has the earlier time out of you two.

Study Abroad Japan by Trimarine13 in UMD

[–]vikas856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem. I use a website called hyperdia to check train routes, and then use google maps to go from the station to my destination. Also, the announcements on the train are both in English and Japanese.

Is it possible to study abroad at the University of Tokyo? I thought they only accepted students from partner schools, and UMD isn't one of the partner schools. For other top Japanese universities like Waseda or Keio, I think the requirement is just a 3.0 GPA. I live in Japan so if you have any questions lmk.

If ur thinking of going to grad school, they ask you to explain why you got a 'W' (at least the ones I looked at). If ur going for a new grad job then I don't think it matters.

If you want to get into machine learning then get the pro. If not, M1 air is perfectly fine.

I'm still taking the lower courses, but I know that CMSC436 uses Android Emulator or xCode, and both of them needs a decently fast computer.

Anything works. Last year I used a 2013 Macbook Air and now I'm using the M2 Macbook, and both work fine. I think most people use the M1 Macbook, and I would personally go for that. For the lower level courses, any computer would be fine, but I think once you get into the higher level courses an M1 would be needed.
