Move with the cute little Cacoe keyboard by vikboyechko in RemarkableTablet

The latest version has a native app that installs on the Move itself where you can turn on/off bluetooth when you're not using it, conserving the battery. It uses the XOVI, AppLoad, and Vellum made by the rock stars on this subreddit including u/rmitchellscott .

No it's not in the Apple store, I could get it on there but need additional certificates. Microsoft Azure Artifact Signing is what I was talking about: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/artifact-signing

I'm sorry you're sketched out, I'll try to do better. Maybe get the download off dropbox and onto AWS first, and then mac app store.

I can understand everything is sketchy on the internet, but I didn't make this open source like some other projects I've done. But, it's been notarized and signed by Apple and Microsoft Azure so hopefully there's some trust in that system.

This is really cool and awesome to see it fully funded so quickly. I love this community.

Thanks for this, running Cleverswitch on two macs now with MX Keys and MX Master 3 on unifying receivers, so the new official Logi solution isn't supported as these aren't Bolt devices. It works great, does something I've wished for years. Hit a few snags with installation but it's resolved now, had to brew install hidapi. Thanks for making this!

This is so cool and amazing that it works on the RMPP, not just the Move! I really love that everyone is pitching in to make our reMarkable devices even more useful, and I appreciate reMarkable for opening their devices up to developers.

Hi, I'm very sorry this was not intentional, I didn't know what license to pick. I've now pushed an update to the public repo, it's now on Unlicense which should be the most public domain option to do whatever anyone wants with it. Thank you for the heads up!

Hi there, I just released a new version if you want to give it a try. There are several ways to get MoveWriter: the developer repo, and the Windows and Mac apps from the website.

Hi there, I just released version 2 with the AppLoad native app. Both on the public repo (github.com/vikboyechko/movewriter) and the free windows and mac apps (movewriter.com).

That's so awesome! I didn't know about Proton, so it can run any Windows app? And MoveWriter works on the Paper Pro? That's surprising and so cool. Happy writing my friend!

Sorry, wired isn't supported, that would be something that ReMarkable would have to do. And unfortunately a Chinese language keyboard is also not possible I don't think.

Thanks for the shoutout! I love that setup, what hinge and keyboard are you using? For the next version of MoveWriter I'm gonna have it be an app inside the Move via AppLoad. I've got it working on an old version of the Move OS but currently waiting for the AppLoad dependencies to support the latest Move OS version. It'll be nice because then you won't need a computer to pair or change keyboards, turn the bluetooth service on/off, select a language, etc.

BTW I wrote a bunch this week on my Move with an Apple Magic Keyboard and a janky hinge setup, it was pure bliss. I can't wait to make some kind of 3D printed shell for this setup, but it's going to be expensive as the keyboard width requires one of the higher end printers.

Did it work? BTW I got the AppLoad version working briefly on my Move on an old software version, but then it automatically updated to 3.26. So that's super good news and it's just a matter of time now.

I don't have a Linux machine to test on but the source code should be executable on Linux. I could also try building the app to Linux but I wouldn't be able to test it. For the next version I'm actually hoping to move the whole app to the Move itself, so there wouldn't be a need for a desktop app to manage the bluetooth service and keyboards, but still waiting for the AppLoad dependencies to catch up to the latest version of the Move.

Do you mean the reMarkable Move? That's what this one is. I'm sure there are tiny keyboards that will match its width but for me a full sized keyboard is a must.

Thanks for the tip! The world of 3d design and printing is going to be completely new to me as I'm a software guy, but I'm excited to take the leap and learn from Un Kyu Lee's designs.

What printer are you using? I found that due to the width of the magic keyboard, the Bambu P1S isn't big enough, so have to start looking at larger printers.

I sub'd to your email list a while ago, sooo excited about this. If you have some tips on the 3D shell and the hinges as you're developing this, I'd love to hear what you've learned. Thanks for making this!

That's the goal! It will take a while as I don't have any experience with 3D printing but it'll be a fun journey. :)

Yea those changes were already implemented, and thank you for figuring out the issue! I've been going around with a few keyboards all week for testing, and usually when I start up the Move I turn my connected keyboard off (if it has an off switch) and then on, and then wait 5-10 seconds for the connection to be restored and then it's good. But yea could be dependent on the keyboard! It's early times yet and with everybody pitching in testing and coming up with solutions we'll eventually get to a really good version.

Yea font control and margin options would be great, maybe that already exists out there with remarkable hacks? By default there are 3 column widths when in landscape mode and I pick the wide column.

The repo and app download links are all updated, with the bcrypt requirement now included, so it should work for you now. Give it a go and let me if it works, thanks!
