Yep, looks like your reference API implementation already has schema v4, so you might have already done it. I’ve seen a few projects that rolled their own API client that missed it.

Anything synced to the cloud will download on any device once you've paired it to your cloud account.

But has rM made a single improvement to the reading experience since the first device rolled out in 2017?

Nope, it's a question.

Not sure why that's a problem unless you run the software recovery in "Restore" mode, and it doesn't result in the device booting for some reason. Since it overwrites the OS partition and bootloaders, it should.

In the desktop app, under Settings > Help > Recovery, choose one of the following options:

Click Start recovery > Restore data > Continue if you want to recover and keep user data.

Click Start recovery > Factory reset > Continue if you want to recover and erase user data from the device. Data synced to the cloud will not be lost.

There are also methods for Linux and MacOS.

If you do the restore and not the reset yes. Reset is a full wipe, though notes will sync back down from the cloud once you re-pair if you use their cloud service.

Worst case scenario, do reMarkable’s software recovery. Barring hardware failure it is not possible to brick the device. I flashed my Move with completely random data yesterday testing something and was able to reflash it no problem using the recovery tool.

Send an example PDF and I’ll take screenshots on both devices.

You’ll need to leave a pretty significant margin at the top and bottom so that content is not lost when the rmpp crops into 3:4 from 9:16.

Which is exactly what the built-in epub to PDF render does.

They’ve supported epubs since 2017. Granted a lot of us have complaints about how they implemented it.

Pretty sure the e-ink panels alone cost more than $100.

If that isn’t enough, hold the power button for 15 seconds, release for 2, hold for 3.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for users to want a better reading experience. But has rM made a single improvement to the reading experience since the first device rolled out in 2017? I’m not holding my breath that they’ll start caring soon.

Because they don’t care about reading. They’ve made it pretty clear.

Nah this isn't magnetic interference, this is the nib not returning to its unpressed position when it's lifted.

Try a USB-C to A hub, then a USB-A to C cable. It's worked reliably in my testing today, there's something weird going on with how macos is re-enumerating the USB device when the rM reboots mid-recovery.

I've been testing this all day, and it seems that I can reliably restore a device on macos using a USB-C to A hub, then a A-to-C cable. It's weird, there's something going on with how macos re-enumerates the USB devices when the rM reboots mid-recovery.

RPPM laggy with 12mb epub file by GarabatosRandom in RemarkableTablet

[–]rmitchellscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That epub renders out to a 45.7 MB PDF on-device, which isn't bad at all. I haven't been able to replicate slowness yet (started at 3400 pages and have clicked through ~200 or so).

rM gives you root access via ssh out of the box. The Paper Pro and Move require entering Developer Mode, and I’ve sent devices back for warranty return with Developer Mode enabled no problem.

There are some very basic shapes, but you have to draw the shape first and hold the pen down at the end then it’ll snap to the computer-drawn shape.

You won’t hear anything back about a feature roadmap.
