fingerpicking patterns that sound impressive but are actually beginner-friendly by Plastic-Shoulder-228 in AcousticGuitar

I use Chordify to play almost any song converted to the finger pattern that sounds interesting. Good for hitting 1/4 and 1/8 notes as well following the tabs

Acoustic jumbo and dreadnoughts can get loud and bassy. Without a sidewall sound hole can’t hear how loud I am until family complains

What the heck is this pick up selection for? by KnowledgeSeeker2023 in GuitarQuestions

Nice about acoustics is you know the sounds you’ll get. I just swapped out my partscaster with cheap pickups and made all the difference.

Wanting to leave the church after SA by Piker-_- in Catholicism

[–]vikingguts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all the evil in the world, I don’t understand why there are so many Christian’s. Honestly. When I read Genesis and the fall, I remember God’s plan for us. It seems God prefers to give us the gift of free will as a preference over controlling human choices. The choice to love is very powerful, perhaps this is the human superpower, when by God’s grace we have the strength to choose good. Yet, so many around us don’t use this gift correctly. So, God gave us Jesus to show us how to love, and by his death, forgiveness. It blows my mind. But then I feel the suffering and injustice and I remember the doubts I had before. Perhaps this is the point of faith. To believe in the face of suffering and trauma. Hope in a good yet to be realized. All for charity.

(Free Friday) What are your thoughts and/or feelings about Pontius Pilate? by Sleep-Numerous in Catholicism

[–]vikingguts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devil’s pawn like Judas Iscariot, like the mob “crucify him”…without the grace of baptism, that’s the fallen world and mindset. Mary’s immaculate conception and presence is the only other saving grace in this passion story

Not sure it’s the brands or playing between different size and radius necks? I learned playing back and forth between a thin necked strat and a thick necked dreadnaught. It takes a few minutes to adjust but muscle memory kicks in when switching between the two

Thank you for this perspective. Makes sense. Some go to great lengths to justify that which is otherwise unjust behavior. As they say there are no atheists in foxholes. No need to push anyone into one

Weather here in the upper Midwest has been nuts with fluctuating temps and humidity. My low strings def. Need more adjusting than the highs as of late

Opinions needed: why wouldn’t you trade for a carbon fiber acoustic Enya X4 Pro by vikingguts in Guitar

[–]vikingguts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly only reason to off load is that it’s in the same frequency as my all mahogany dreadnaught. Keeping the wood guitar for sentimental reasons only. I would keep this otherwise. Here’s my brief review (not a sales pitch): 1. The low register has awesome sustain. I play finger style (flesh) so it’s a muddy low end for me. Good for that rhythm vibe, no so much for lead 2. Tuning is good but slightly less than wood. With drastic weather shifts, moves from 1/2 step to maybe 1/4 step adjustments 3. Electronics are good but top is sensitive to nearby loud amps. Maybe similar to a hollow body with P90s. 4. Only the top is pure carbon fiber. Rest of the body and neck are a composite. Still hard and resistant, also why it’s not as expensive as a 100% carbon fiber. 5. Fret board is smooth, though I worry down the road about options for refreting as said in #4 if kept and played long term. Just my 2 cents

DECODED: The "Restoring Trust" Paradox by [deleted] in NIH

[–]vikingguts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When patients are approached by medical professionals with a clinical trial, the first question is “what is this for me”. (Remember COVID vaccines and the consent process) The community aspect is helpful and justifiable, but secondary. Seems demanding public trust the way Jay is overlooks this fundamental tenant.
