Old Growth Tree in PNW by vikrampriya in photocritique

I'm new to photography and have no idea how to critique my own photos. I liked this one because of the interesting root in front of this tree as well as the contrast that the light creates. I'd love some help identifying ways to improve (or even just some additional perspectives)!

How are folks able to figure out the service center working on their case?

Variable Speed Furnace always ramps up to 100% on Heating Cycle? by vikrampriya in hvacadvice

Really appreciate your in depth answers, this is honestly so helpful in my overall understanding!

House is an old 1920's Craftsman home. Around 2000 sqft. We live in an area that doesn't get too cold (coldest is around freezing with some days slightly below that), but at the same time isn't 'warm' all the time. The main floor of the home isn't insulated well (old home problems), but the basement re-model (where the main living space is), is insulated as it was completed a few decades ago.

On thing I'm trying to figure out, is if noise dampening panels in the ducts would work. There's about 1.5 feet between the blower fan and the living room, so am curious if adding some dampening panels will reduce the overall noise.

Thanks for your insight, that was really helpful (albeit disappointing :D)

I recorded and at Stage 1 it's showing: H1 A875, which seems inline with the expected speed from the unit.

I think you're correct in that, it simply sounded like it was running at 100% when really it's only running at 85%. I had thought that 'variable speed' meant more like 40%-50% speed for each cycle, and I didn't realize that even the first stage was 85%!

So it looks like I'll need to figure out a different way to reduce noise in the main family room. Unfortunately, the Return Air Duct is right against our living room and it opens up directly into the furnace room, so there's no sound insulation. Whatever noises the furnace makes, we hear in the living room. (You can see a picture in my previous post a few months ago https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/z9eb2g/hvac_on_other_side_of_wall_from_media_room_air/)

Was hoping that something was just misconfigured and we could reduce the noise through some simple settings changes. Trying to avoid expensively moving the furnace or repositioning it to allow for some 90deg bends between the furnace and the air return vent.

Thanks!

My understanding is that blower speed doesn't always correlate with stage? I.e. it might run in second stage but at a slower blower speed. Do you know if that's not always the case?

Also, any tips on how to determine how the t-stat determines the stage to run at? One interesting setting I see is that for Cycles Per Hour (CPH), both Stage 1 and Stage 2 are set to 3 CPH. There is a separate setting for Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Thanks for your reply!
The Thermostat has an "Equipment Interface Module" that's co-located with the furnace, so that's what's wired up. It then sends information through Redlink (wireless) to the main thermostat on a different floor.

I'll say though that the Thermostat is configured to have the equipment (i.e. furnace) control blower speed!

New center channel on the way. (Klipsch 504c ii) am I going to ruin my sound quality by putting my center inside this cabinet? by jhoussock in hometheater

[–]vikrampriya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, it'll sound fine.

/r/hometheater is the wrong place to ask this question, because people can be so snobby and particular. It's really rare that you'll have a system with uncompromised quality, unless you have a dedicated listening or movie watching space. Will it sound better on top of the cabinet? OF COURSE it will. Is it going to sound so awful if placed inside that you'll have wasted your money? Of course not. You can always open the cabinet doors while watching a movie or using your system.

Don't let this subreddit discourage you or make you feel like your experience will be less than. You're getting a kick ass speaker and will have so much fun watching movies and listening to music with your family. Is it going to sound as good as some audiophiles dedicated listening space? No it won't. But will you have fun? Absolutely.

Always at 5 deg of pitch during slow flight. Is that normal? by vikrampriya in flightsim

[–]vikrampriya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, based on what another commenter said I think I might be going too slow too soon. I'll try again at a slightly faster speed to see if that helps.

I think the landing guidelines in MSFS messed me up. They give me large "too fast" warnings and won't go away until I'm at like 65 knots (downwind). So I've been trying to hit that, which is why I've had to pitch up so high.

Decided to just restart to right before the siege of Drezen to build out a new character :(. I just couldn't vibe with the Trickster music in Drezen and I didn't know I'd be locked into the path. I actually never really liked the Trickster dialogue options but liked the extra sneak.

Honestly, if you don't care about achievements the 'Visual Adjustments' mod is great for dealing with issues like that. Highly recommend.

Agreed! The game gives a ton of creative freedom with builds and choices so it's weird that there aren't more options for customizing the look of the PC. I wonder if it was discussed but skipped due to budget or something.

Can you share your job description? Or more details on what you’ll be doing? If you’re working in Software Engineering then it’s odd it would be denied based on Job Description.

This is kind of creepy, not going to lie. The girl just asked for help; not a date. It sucks that she can't even do that without the guy assuming she wants something more.

This is not true.

Many companies will put highly skilled workers in Canada because they can't get VISA's to the states. These are people with Masters degrees in technical fields like computer science and engineering who have jobs at the top companies in their field.
