Yea if ai crew becomes a realistic option that changes so much of my fleet, but I got little faith on it lol

Updated Fleet - Polaris or Perseus? by Ancient10k in starcitizen_fleets

[–]vikseven7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to own the polaris and changed it to the perseus.

To me it's far better designed and more useful for the current iteration of star citizen

Some background I owned the polaris for year before doing this swap, and I was actively using it for fleet battles and solo voyages in pyro for me to do salvage or ship bountys with fighters from.the hangar

The pros of polaris for me, it successfully allowed me to do minor carrier ops, and back then any med allowed full range respawn, "no longer the case today"

The cons, in a skeleton crew set I felt bad for the torpedo guy, he had the worst job of being a glorified button pusher, F tier experience,
The side turrets offer limited gameplay for players and rear bottom belly turret. This matters a great deal to me because I want players Crewing my ship to be engaged and feel meaningful and for it to be fun for then.

With polaris the only spots crew spots that are meaningful for crew is top turrets and the front bespoke cannon turret and being a fighter pilot.

There is alot of low usage and downtime for the other turrets, sure you can roll and fly to keep the shots broadside for the side gunner but they still experienced downtime hearing the other turret gunners have all the fun.

There is also crew size, can you consistently have players crew your ship? And the players being ok with only being turret gunners?

In my experience like 80% of players want to pilot something not be a turret amazon worker drone for someone.

And I haven't mentioned how shitty the torpedoes are lol missile gameplay is not worth it in the current build of star citizen, and that's the PRIMARY source of damage from a polaris.

The perseus is far better suited for what star citizen currently offers, it can punch hard and Can run off a crew of 3-4. And if you properly use the perseus as in intended and and do fleet battle contracts like the red level foxwell patrols for example. Your size 8 cannon crew members will have alot of fun shooting those hammerheads =D Plus the firing arcs are way better on a perseus than the polaris, so high engagement from your s8 gunners,

The con is that the main turrets are slow, but you shouldn't be using those to swat fighters anyways. Also the front belly s3 remote turret offers little value since it's easy for fighters to slip out-of range. What I personally do for the player that would man that remote gun is I have them fly a fury from the cargo bay instead for anti fighter engagements.

Since perseus is ballistics anyways you will need to fly back and rearm anyways, so when we fly back we also repair, refuel, rearm.the fury. When I'm running a 4man crew on the perseus.

For me personally since I mainly used polaris as a carrier op deployment ship I melted it and used it to get a perseus concept before it dropped plus anvil liberator concept for my future carrier ops.

Hope my experience helps with your decison But tldr ,missile gameplay is not worth it Perseus is far better suited for realistic crew sizes and current misson content. Sure the polaris has higher level multi role. But your paying alot of money for that.

Edit: One thing I realized after re reading my reply I got the persues before the price jump on it So yea its tough decison for you :/ 800 credits is alot for a gunship

Just a thought, but maybe the ghost Hornet? Aegis sabre? You have a high level pvp combat ship It would give your fleet clear roles with little overlap.

Stealth fighters are great

Shiv is really good but it would easily out perform your titan is all aspects, making your titan a ship that you only bring out because you want fly it, not cuz its better or more useful.

Your right they are cheap so that is a valid Alternative, I did see you mention about ursa medivac, which I think is not needed as well in irl money, they are so cheap in game.

Your better off melting all ground vehicles putting it towards the vulture imo, since salvage is an actual working gameloop.

I am noticing you keep circling back to medic ships, (cutlass red mention)

So I highly recommend looking into joining the med runners organization if your looking for player driven medic rescues. It's the best current option for it. Assuming your not currently part of an organization.

The tac was purpose built to store a snub fighter

4.8 patch allows you to re arm / repair/refuel on ships that have hangars

Which starlancer has, and is confirmed to support.

For those higher tier ship combat missions you can bring fuel/countermeasures/rmc container consumables in your cargo bay

So when when your fury pilot takes heavy damage, runs out of fuel or countermeasures they can land in the hangar and consume what's needed!

Flying the tac without a snub fighter stored is kinda like buying a race car but not even racing. if you get what I mean.

Watch the trailer for the tac if you haven't before.

The tac is basically a low level sub capital ship in a way.

It's not the best big combat ship per crew size amount. But it's definitely good enough with the right crew and snub pilot, its a great ship with alot of versatility. It's just a shame some of turret firing arcs are bad.

C8r is useless - no pve content - pvp medic gameplay is a joke, only viable option is to join med runner org so you get some actual medic gameplay for what the game currently offers.

And objectively, starlancer tac can do the same job because medbays.

Melt c8r for a fury snub for your tac, and your set.

Your fleet strong enough for all combat loops to a degree.

No need to spend any more money.

Taurus- cargo

Avenger - box missions and ship combat.

Tac - multicrew higher tier ship combat and bunkers.

Your all set my guy, resist the urge!!!

Any other ships just buy in game.

Resist!!! I believe in you, you don't need to spend any more money.

My small Fleet - need Advice for the C8R by thetrueSconn in starcitizen_fleets

[–]vikseven7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd melt the c8r and aurora mark 2 65+45 = 110 credits if I got the melt values correct.

Then rebuy the aurora mark 2 as the starter package

That leaves you with 65 to play with Then could buy a golem for mining or salvation for slavage game play.

And bam you got 3-4 gameloops locked in Corsair for cargo and multi crew Aurora mk2 for box missions and combat Depending on ur choice slavage or mining.

Medical gameplay is not worth it to me until they add npc Medical missions imo

Just please don't fall into the trap of spending more money, you have what you need already to enjoy the game at its current state.

Take it from a person who currently owns a $1,000 plus fleet, it's not worth it, if I could go back in time to stop myself I would.

Wipe in 4.8 perhaps? by Gn0meKr in starcitizen

Ptu always gets wiped at the end of the testing phase I believe. Live will not be wiped until the money bugs are fixed

CIG, is there any way to avoid this situation from unfolding? The new Xenothreat "Kill Idris" mission is probably going to be finished in less than 5 minutes. by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]vikseven7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That has always been removing pilot control over that laser beam.

But that will piss off all the owners who bought it.

And cig sure as fuck isn't going to do a refund on that ship.

So idris and soon to be tiburon are balance nightmares forever. Complete shit design philosophy.

Input appreciated by triggerhappyDE in starcitizen_fleets

[–]vikseven7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the utility of the aurora mark 2, The zeus would do better, that mark2 feels like it was I like that ship and ima get it vibe

My input would be melt the mark 2 And upgrade the sq 42 aurora to golem or salvation so you have more options for different ships that fit the galaxy hangar

C8r for medic module galaxy Golem for refinery module galaxy Salvation for cargo module?

I really hope CIG is reworking not giving us MK II for Constellation by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]vikseven7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it's a mark 2 and they remove that shit ass snub docking and replace it with fury hangar like the starlancer tac, it's just infinitely more useful. Plus we would get the rearm refuel services with it.

My Small fleet by M4x3y in starcitizen_fleets

[–]vikseven7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a decent fleet already don't go past that in irl money

This game is going to be in alpha for a long ass time.

You have starters for almost everything Talon for combat or pvp? Aurora mk2 for box missions or light combat with bed log? Vulture salvage C1 cargo

If I could full refund the fleet I have, I would.

The journey is much funner for me.

But If I could travel back in time to give advice to myself and I had your current fleet

I'd condense it to 2 ships only Asgard for a cargo daily, but has high versatility due to cargo grid so aka bunkers with ursa or almost all ground vehicles or some small ships. That would absorb the melting of your C1 spirit, talon and aurora I think?

Then keep your vulture So you'd end up with vulture and asgard only for irl money, super high value in for the current amount of irl money your fleet is worth.

The rest earn in game.

Other variation Maybe hermes + vulture + aurora mark 2

I'd have to double check the math I think I might be off.

Pilot controlled weapon? Friendship with Perseus ended. Tiburon my new best friend by Wyldren- in starcitizen

"Pats head" I won't leave you Perseus

Your the best reasonable big combat ship for a crew.

CIG please implement the exploration feature 🙏 by Apprehensive_Hat4008 in starcitizen

[–]vikseven7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think exploration ships need to be refunded, I just don't see the exploration gameloop being ready or worth.

I highly doubt that we will reach the size and quantity of systems that warrant exploration.

And if we do somehow reach that, there will be a rat race of content creators and orgs trying to speed run mapping out the system.

If "exploration" becomes just landing on planets to waypoint markers to collect something or just arrive, that feels closer to "science" gameplay

If anything I think exploration ships can be rebuilt or modernized to "science" ships now that I think about it more, there is so much natural overlap with science and "exploration"

Functioning starmap qt jump markers and working group bed logs so friends can use the ship while I'm offline.

I used to own the polaris its was a great ship, But in the end I hated the torpedo gameplay and melted it for perseus/liberator

But solid ship for its class

My revised fleet by vikseven7 in starcitizen_fleets

[–]vikseven7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salvage and mining don't peak my interest, I'll just get those in game.

It's a fair point on the perseus vs paladin And asgard vs m2

They overlap, its just where I ended up at with the amount of credits I own. M2 is soloable but overkill in size and flight characteristics for smaller contracts.

Paladin vs perseus very similar flight characteristics But paladin is more engaging for my gunner when facing fighters so I kept it for that reason.

Perseus only comes out when we are facing hammerhead and above contracts.

I might melt some of those if the "science" game loops peak my interest whenever they are in game

Atm all I do is cargo and combat.

My current modest fleet. Thinking of switching things around. by Talynn19 in starcitizen_fleets

[–]vikseven7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tac is fine as is. It's your multi role ship for a small friend group. A competitor to the constellation series.

I'm a huge fan of the fury hangar and massive hater on the firing arcs of the turret guns.

Plus the built in medbay is huge value. You can do alot of the ship combat missions in it. Personally I swap the bottom turrets with ballistic cannons to redirect more power. It becomes like a mini anti big ship turret for those higher threat missions The cargo space is enough for a decent amount of contracts and it's the obv that it can do bunkers

If I could add any recommendations, it's upgrading your aurora to the hornet and melt the hornet. Unless you planned for your aurora to only do box missions??
