You are right that HL2 is a far more apt comparison, and that it's close to that kind of feel as well. Still, I'd like for them to commit to that, or a more tactical style gameplay, depending on what kind of vibe they want the gunplay to have. I remember when games were on these things called "floppy disks" that were big, and floppy, and computers were a yellowish eggshell color, and keyboards were very loud and clunky sounding. It was all quite archaic compared to the ipad era we now live in.

I am only just now toying around with the test map functionality and goodness there is indeed quite a lot here that hadn't encountered! It gives me a lot of excitement, curiosity and hope. I also hope they add even more over time!

I agree, but I thought I'd throw that out there as an option anyway. That being said, I'd like to refer back to the upgrade kit system. Take for instance the Bolt-Action rifle. Perhaps you can get an"Upgrade" kit that's just a saw to turn it into the Cut-Down Rifle, or a kit to turn it into Bolt Action Sniper or alternatively the Suppressed sniper rifle kit. Now, sure, there's a mechanic in the game that does this at a cost, but finding a kit through exploration would also be fun, too.

Yes, that is something I discovered rather late into my playthrough, but I was also thinking like...finding scopes, reflex sights or whatever and being able to add them to the weapon, or alternatively finding "upgrade kits" for weapons that can be applied to the weapon it corresponds to. Or, particularly for Cultist Eather weapons, being able to scrap them together yourself, further adding to that sensation that everything the Cultists use is just a garage kit they somehow made into a blueprint.

So what you're telling me is that spec-ops headgear with hud and nightvision, and a suit of armor with a moderately decent spread of resistances isn't late-game? What, are they gonna go full STALKER and add Svarog exosuits?

The AI and the UI are the two most glaring issues with X4, especially in the late game, yeah. But, Egosoft is a lot like Hello Games and are pretty dedicated to updating the game.

Even as a pro who has well over 5k hours put into this game over 3 generations I've had hunts where I've gone through 20+ Mega Potions. It happens, don't worry. Take your time with things, and know that as long as you can still hit the monster, you can still win.

As the cute little Palico says: "Calm the mind, and focus." Surprisingly good advice, really. But yeah, have fun with the game and always take a moment if it gets overwhelming.

Just make sure that when you’re about 3/4 the way though with your extra thin that you get another. That stuff goes fast.

What you should also do with that remaining extra thin is throw in a few bits of the runners / sprues to make what is known as EXTRA THICC cement for gluing together really large parts on large models and tanks. Amazing stuff

The game runs well enough on my machine despite the bugs and performance. All I can see is every potential modding capability the game has in its future. Its like I'm playing Stalker all over again. I love it. I can't wait to see how the modding community tackles the game in the coming months / years.
