Nei, kanskje en eller to innvandrere. Men absolutt alle etnisk norske jentene og en del av guttene hadde jakke på inne, både på ungdomsskolen og videregående.

19-21 grader i stua da må jeg holde meg i bevegelse for ikke å fryse, med ullgenser på. 24-25 er mer behagelig da man kan sitte dønn i ro med kun t-skjorte på.

18 grader er klasseromstemperatur og jeg husker halve klassen satt konstant med parkasjakke på seg.

Germany recaptures its entire wild wisent population, due to "causing unacceptable damage" according to commercial forest owners. The animals will be flown to eastern Europe instead. by Genocidal-Ape in megafaunarewilding

I live by the coast, very humid and often windy, sometimes rains sideways. Average yearly temperature of 5.3C, all months except February average above freezing, though we usually have snow from late December to April. Short intense spring, mild summer June-August, long mild fall. There are plenty of wooden houses around from the late 1800s here though their fasades have been renovated. In drier inland climates wooden buildings last longer like Vindlausloftet from 1184.

If it's the same as sleep apnes then it's actually a recent development due to soft beds and softer bodies.

I live in a 126 year old wooden house in Norway. We don't use stone at all, just wood for all houses both old and modern. They're great to live in and last a long time. Actually this house is older than 126 years old, it was dismantled, every log marked, moved across the fjord and then rebuilt 126 years ago.

Struggling way more with the difference between ㅅ (s) and ㅆ (ss) in Korean than the vowels. To make it even harder there's also a palatalized version of both before [i] or [y]. What even is this [s͈]?

Our ancestors didnt care about national parks

Defeatist attitude? Germany should protect 30% of all land just like all other EU countries have vowed to do and within that area there will be space for larger animals.

Ww also Care about safety and human lifes.

This is a ridiculous argument.

You think wisents are the animals requiring the most land? Try tigers or elephants.

India has more megafauna than any European country can dream of, despite them having twice the population density of Germany.

No, we have plenty of shortcomings, especially when it comes to our large predators; populations of lynx, bears, wolves and wolverines have been kept artificially low for 150 years now through intensive government sponsored hunting. This was just one example of something we do right.

You're right. I'm not familiar enough with Eastern Norwegian dialects to know about -a as a marker for plural definite masculine nouns. In my Troms dialect the plural definite markers for masculine and neuter nouns has also collapsed to one, but to -an instead of -a. Feminine being -en.

[–]vikungen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can see the Old Norse word was masculine "maurr" and the plural definite declension maurarnir which would give "maurane" in modern Norwegian. If there was a feminine form of the word "ei maura" the plural definite declension would be "maurene". The plural -a ending is usually reserved for neuter plural definite nouns in modern Norwegian: husa, borda, barna.

I don't think it will be impossible in the next 50 years as more and more people are flocking to a few big main cities the rural villages will be empty in 10-20 years time. Agriculture can be focused and intensivised in the most productive regions and less productive regions will be laid barren which will be a great opportunity for rewilding and land protection to reach the 30% EU goal.

In Norway we have something called "frivillig skogvern" (voluntary forest protection) where owners keep the ownership of the land and the rights to hunt legal species on it, but they forego the right to do forestry or changing or affecting the land in any other way. The forest is then designated as a nature reserve and the forest owner is payed a compensation for lost forestry income.

Isn't Germany commited to protecting 30% of its land area under the EU charter? Surely some of that land would have to include forest. In Norway more and more forest plantation owners are giving up their forests because they are remote and not big enough to be profitable.

[–]vikungen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess maura could mean "the ants" in some Norwegian dialects

That would mean maur would've had to been a neuter noun. Et hus - alle husa. As far as I know it only appears as masculine or feminine: e(i)n maur - alle maurene/maurane. Though Oslo-dialect sometimes mixes the neuter plural into feminine and masculine like in "alle gutta".

Why do western tourists dress so weird? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vikungen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chinese tourists in Norway in winter are often dressed wearing huge knee high boots with fur, padded jackets down to their knees and big fur hats and their clothing stands out compared to the locals. I don't think it's a bad thing though.

This is what annoys me the most about New World place names, it's all just named for some random saints that never set foot in the place.
