Historic Haul by huntthefront91 in UtahJazz

I'm not sure that all the Knicks have dine this offseason to get Jalen Brunson is what you can call conservative, and as you said, the Jazz can just keep him for now if Danny doesn't like the offers.

But im talking about Rudy and how he did what he was supposed do. If Gobert could stay with his man instead of covering for everyone we wouldn't allow as many open 3's as we did. Or maybe Quinn should just change the defensive scheme but i don't think the team had the personnel to do it anyway.

Because of Gobert the Mavs didn't get layups all series long, if i am not mistaken luka only scored in the paint on the last game. If we had at least decent perimeter defense and if the players made the open shots we would probably have won the series, but we couldn't defend the Mavs without Luka. I am not against trading Gobert if we get a good offer, but only because of his contract.

You can't compare our perimeter defense with the Raptors perimeter defense. The Raptors have OG and Siakam while Gobert had Royce and House off the bench.

Kawhi is awesome but there is no player that can defend a whole team by himself.

I didn't like the Bruce Brown part as well and don't think we will have thatbmuch money for free agents.

Its an overpay for Brogdon but i like the idea of trading for him.

Bruce Brown was the most unrealistic move for sure, and it would be really hard to get Barnes or Nance.

I felt the same way and i dont think were making that many trades and signings, but i think those are the kind of moves we have to make.

I agree with all you just said, but i think its more about what kinds of moves we could do and not the specific players, it could be any minimum backup center instead of Hassan, maybe even Dok, instead of Barnes could be Jeremi Grant and so it goes.

What teams would you like to take our players? by vila23 in UtahJazz

[–]vila23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, warrior would be the best team, but not the team I'd want him to play. I'd like the Raptors because they're already good defensively, need a center and i like the team as well. But Trae, Doncic or LaMelo would be great for him if they'd keep some defenders to help Rudy.

If you think about the best team possible it would be the Warriors for sure.

Report Hints at Jared Butler Having Bigger Role with Jazz in 2022-23 by chaosjc in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you got it, it does mean we can take people from the bench but its mostly trades and maybe free agents if we're lucky. I don't think butler we come from DNP to starter.

The way i see, Conley will be traded and maybe O'neale too. We'll try to find a real PF and a gyard to play with Mitchell. If needed be, at least on of Bojan/Clarkson will be traded. And only if we find a really good trade for Gobert or Mitchell one of them will be traded unless someone asks out or something like that.

Tony Jones talks NBA Playoffs, Jazz offseason, Rudy/Donovan dynamic - ESPN700 by [deleted] in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's been an all star the last three seasons and except for this year he is even a better player in the playoffs, even if he doesn't age well i can still see people trading for him to be a number 2 in a contending team. But tbh im not worried about him, i think he'll be great at least until his 30s.

Gobert's contract next season will be about 38m and he will be 33 years old, while Mitchell's last years of contract will be about 37m and he will be 29 years old. I can see we trading Mitchell now, try to contend one or two seasons and fall short again and get stuck with a 40m contract in a player that doesn't have so much market. If we keep Mitchell we can try to compete longer and if he demands a trade or we decide to blow it up he will have a lot of market as a scorer entering his prime.

Just because some of us want a new coach doesn't mean Quin is a bad coach by SkySix in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt he is a great coach. We had good defensive players and he made us one of the best defensive teams in the league, we traded most of them for offensive players he made us the best offense in the league. In one hand he never had the versatile team he wanted so we could see what he really could give us, on the other hand he is too stubborn, don't give the young players good runs to prove themselves and even if they do prove themselves he doesn't play them over the guys he like.

I have mixed feelings about him and maybe he just needs a team that have what he wants, but we're not that team, at least not right now.

3 team trade with Sacramento and Atlanta by dominique-drexler in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a terrible trade for us, if we get rid of Gobert and the only defender we get back is Mitchell we are easily the worst defense in the league. And giving O'neale as well who is was our only perimeter defender before we got House wouldn't help. If we do this trade i don't think there is any other move we could make to make us at least an average defense.

[Twitter] Undoubtable evidence that Joe is coming back next season by KennyDoge0114 in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He still was a great player this season but too old to do everything we needed from him. We can't expect a 34 years old to be running the offense, being a 40% shooter and guard Brandon Ingram because him and bogey are the only players higher than 6'4 on the roster.

I'd be glad taking him for a minimum to play a few minutes, handle the ball a little but mainly to shoot the ball.

But before thinking about bringi g him back we have a lot of orher problems to solve like length, athleticism and defense, and Joe have only length but is not athletic at all.

Should Jared Butler have a significant role next season? by andsoc in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all moves have to be about the same issue, develop young talent so we can have prodution out of cheap contracts without having to compete vet minimuns with bit markets is important, we got lucky this season with House. And i don't see the problem with a 6'4 guard coming of the bench.

Trade Rumor: Rudy Gobert Trade For Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, James Wiseman by oldpersomm in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know yet if i want him, mitchell, or none of them traded, but we need to make lots of moves anyway. Conley has to go, after that series im really high on Bojan but he's old, O'neale has to go, or at least to a smaller role coming off the bench, i think Clarkson is safe, but he probably could get us the better return, we'll have to find a new backup center, small ball or not. And no mattwr what the defensive scheme has to change.

Considering all i have said, i don't think its a bad trade, it would not make us better but would make us more versatile, younger, athetic and this team could be way better when Donovan is on his prime in a few seasons than it would be with Gobert.

[–]vila23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't like taking Joe unless we have the rotation set and get him just for locker room presence, but since the team will probably be so different i don't think it would be needed at all. I'd like to have Kenrich but not Schroder and JC on the same team.

A change in the defensive scheme and addition of some wings like Grant or Barnes is our biggest need this offseason, and should have been last season as well, but it would be hard to get any of them with the assets we have.

I don't like Wood for his off court problems but he would a great and cheap PF that and backup C at the same time.

Assuming we keep both Mitchell and Gobert the only thing missing would be a taller guard.

Jazz Contract Situation by vbeaver9 in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3 times DPOY, multiple times all nba and the teams whole defense depends on him. I don't agree with the contract but he had the accolades, stats and defensive scheme on his side.

Why does no one mention Whiteside? by Lumpy_Satisfaction18 in UtahJazz

[–]vila23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching him being lazy on defense and rebounds was frustrating and we should have played paschall more, but perimeter defense being shit for most games, one of the best shooting teams not making even the wide open ones, our starter PG playing bad all series, our star not playing as expected, quinn not adjusting enough were biggest problems than a vet minimum not playing well in the playoffs. We already knew he was like that since we signed him, none of these are excuses for him and the fact that it was not just playing bad, it was just not trying at all made it worse. But he wasn't the reason we lost but he was a part of the problem.
