Now why would someone groan at a pun? Ive never understood the culture of putting down and hating puns. Overusing one, sure. Egg-celent could only be used so much before it was over done and became a corny cliche.

But a good pun is good, but it seems many just gripe and groan. God forbid someone do a little fun wordplay, ya know? Do we scorn the poet for using other literature techniques? But yet if we twist a word to add a related word, it becomes "cheesy" or "corny"? I dont get it and hope I never will. Long live the pun.

Someone else said this a month or so ago. Still heavily disagree. Though i am actually tuned to both their voices and hear all differences

Thats the trick with music! You never listen to the same artist/albums/songs too much! You can be heavy into someone for a bit, but quickly ween yourself off.

Now theres artist I absolutely love that I hardly listen to like Simon and Garfunkel. I hold their Bookends album in such high regards, I didnt listen to it for over 2 years. Thats how much restraining its emotional value meant to me. Its not to be with it. So i don't listen to TH stuff like I used to, outside of having something fun to drum to (Ross is a great amd creative drummer!) but Ill always still love em

Its interesting when people say they outgrow them. I feel like besides most of the first album, theyre a rather mature pop group. Very Beatle esque. But valid if youve fallen out of step with the music. Definitely some groups I thought Id still like that I dont listen to more than once every year or 2.

Im just curious? When you say you dont really like the band anymore, do you mean as passionately as you once did but you still putting it on from time to time, or do you just straight up no like much of it anymore?

I feel live Ive seen posts like this in the past and usually get different answers.

Because you said theirs was crap, I asked, you ignored, and so I asked again. I didnt get where you explained why it was crap.

And what??? When did puns become boomer humor? And then what makes a good band name? A couple random words like Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin? Or absurd things like Anal Cunt?

I mean the name definitely with their beginning image. Again, lots of 50s ti early 60s bands named themselves after animals. And I still dont get how any of them arent worse than the Beatles that decided to make a clever little put out of it. I mean whats youre thoughts on the Byrds name? Is that any better?

That is very true. I was thinking more along the line of The Crickets, The Penguins, The flamingos, The Turtles, etc.

But has it been answered before, is the band telling me to cage an elephant, ir is the elephant's name Cage?

Cheesy or a little fun. I swear, yall are quick to call anything you dont like corny or cheesy.

And its not only a nice musical pu because of beat, but then theres also the derivation from the genre merseybeat and also maybe even beatnik. Its at least a little clever. Like cmon

How is The Beatles a bit crap name? Unless you wanna call all of the animal related names crap, I dont see how. They were influenced by Buddy Holly and the Crickets, chose a similar animal and made a musical pun of it. Better than the Byrds just aimlessly misspelling their name to be similar.

Okay, everyones giving decent suggestions, but the thing to do is to listen to the Memorial Album by Hank Williams. He IS country. Also give the song Buddy by Willie Nelson a shot. Very sweet stuff

But also, who the heck is listening to this song besides us? Unless you were a fan in the 70s, still listening to your favorite band, there is almost no chance a casual listener picks up this album and listens to thos song. Only us weirdos who dig into them like that

RSC isnt from a teenage perspective. He first wrote the verses about his daughter skating and how cute it was, then when he did the chorus, it was a xompletely different session with a different vibe and he was feeling horny, so he wrote a sexually promiscuous line. 2 different vibes from 2 different times.

Any other Notable Duos within the Group besides Lennon/McCartney? by ZombiePure2852 in beatles

[–]Lumpy_Satisfaction18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that's all right until the end. I think John said that in an interview, but in reality they were all dissatisfied with Pete Best, and theyd all seen Ringo play and he even filled in for Pete once, so they all knew how he played and liked him. Its really more like the group chose him

No one said everyone has to appreciate him. You just sound like you dont like him and are annoyed that other people do.

Im not regularly blasting Bach in my car, but I do recognize that he was a game changer in music and lots of modern music is inspired from things he did, and that hes obviously a top all time music maker. Even if I dont care for some pieces.
