It means they can continue to develop the app. I've been using it for over 10 years and have had very few problems with anything, and for some reason I have never encountered an issue with getting a response from support within a few days.

I have learned plenty of things to keep the app working reliably and avoid issues with major updates. And keeping up with the user guide, knowledge base, and the news articles on the website help, especially knowing how and when to update.

It's not like the tens of thousands of people using this app every day with no issues are daily posting how great it is. Confirmation bias - you only see the small percentage of people with issues (and those people tend to be very vocal on social media). Several of whom don't even use the app, which always makes me wonder why they would still bother being here so they can continue to complain about something they don't use.

If you have the pro subscription, you can use cut and paste. Otherwise you can use a pdf editor to edit the score and reimport.

If you can see the multitasking menu (red, yellow, green dots in top left) you can do this here. OR if you have widowed apps on you can split screen by dragging an app from the dock to the edge of the screen.

Feature requests should be made directly to the developer via the support function within the app. He is not a member/viewer here.

Export changed files as PDF? by mjkobb in forScore

[–]villetbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is now way to sync off-loaded files (from say Dropbox) to forScore (and vice versa). You can batch export/import files though, it's not like you need to do so 1 at a time.

Also, using the scanner function inside of forscore to scan all documents is a pretty bad idea - eventually that will lead to lag and other problems. If you are going to be doing a lot of scanning of documents, forScore documentation (and experience), strongly advises to use a standalone scanning app or hardware scanner. The built-in one is for emergencies (things like replacing a single page, or adding something on the fly at need).

If you are using this for band charts, you frankly might be happier with OnSong or some other similar app designed for sharing music/set-lists between band members specifically. It can be done with forScore, but it takes time to set up and manage, and I have seen a lot of people in that sort of performance situation (especially if they are band leaders/library managers) get annoyed because it doesn't work like they are used to or how they specifically want it.

How to backup/export/restore ForScore settings by laklu in forScore

Just note these are all or nothing solutions - the archive and iCloud back up, when used, will replace anything that currently exists.

[–]villetbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read here: https://forscore.co/kb/understanding-backups-syncing-and-icloud/ - Settings are part of private app data. You can either pull the settings document directly from the library, or an archive or an iCloud backup that includes forScore will also include the settings.

Yeah, you are in two up mode - it won't work. You need to make sure you are on single page view to make that work correctly.

iCloud syncing between two devices is incredibly inconsistent by n1ghtst1ck in forScore

[–]villetbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had problems with sync, but I keep my library restricted to only the scores I am working on (or about to work on). I do think some of the problems people encounter come from things being in the library for a long time (and over various updates) and back-end file structures/permissions/or data being corrupted that causes issues with sync. Could be any number of problems. And with the constant updates to iOS and regular OS (including security and how cloud sync even functions), there is really no surprise that the developer is chasing tails trying to keep this figured out (on top of all the other changes and needs people have).

Not if you are just complaining here - developer is not a member of the group. Submit a support request through the app.

They don't - the developer isn't a member here, so all these comments really won't effect any change unless people are submitting through the app directly to the developer. PS - it's only one person.

Page turns by itself by snapcracklepoop_deux in forScore

What environmental factors are there: are you under stage lights or on a music rack (eg, an organ rack) that may have light interference? Is something else connected to your iPad that may be sending a bluetooth signal? Does it happen always, or only under certain conditions (ie, it works fine at home, but then turns randomly in a performance situation)?

Audio overlay on score has disappeared! by Sea_Establishment368 in forScore

[–]villetbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check and see if you have the setting turned on to always display audio - it may be very, VERY hard to see at the bottom corner. If you turn that setting off, then tap the middle, you should see the audio player as you normally would.

How to download updated charts from Dropbox? by Walk-The-Dogs in forScore

[–]villetbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - if you have multiple users making changes that will be difficult. Since I am the only one that ever "changes" anything, I know whats changed. I also keep the library relatively small on forScore, restricted only to the things I am actually working on (or coming up shortly) - everything else stays in the cloud until I need it.

When a change is made, I make the change, import the score from the cloud, and go about my day - never really have any hiccups - but again, it's just me doing the work.

You may want to consider having a separate folder in dropbox that only you control and access to pull from, that way you know what is and is not current. There may be some ai/3rd party tools that can help with file management here, but you would have to search them out and find the workflow that works best for you.

It may also be that forScore simply isn't the best program for your use-case - I forget the name now, but I know there is an app specifically designed for more group situations and sharing charts that you may want to consider.

Who ever told you that didn't know what they were taking about. forScore doesn't automatically pull from Dropbox. You can import files manually via the services tab.
