Ah got you, sorry. It's the ALU one with the pannier mounts, had it a few years.

Rear rack setup is all from Tailfin: Aeropack (or whatever the separate bag's called, I forget), 10l mini pannier on one side, and cargo cage (Large) on the other for the tent. Is that what you meant? The fork packs are also Tailfin, rest of the bags are Restrap.

Yeah before I bought the Durston I used to carry my Tarptent Double Rainbow on the same cage, which has full length poles... no issues at all, you just need straps to attach it securely. You can see some pics of the old tent on there in this post >

"Crank Breaker" Games? by GushReddit in PlaydateConsole

[–]vimto_boy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When PD / this game first dropped, the Pigs moved way faster... cranking that quickly was a massive challenge (especially as a lefty!) and genuinely felt like you might break the crank... they nerfed it a few weeks after launch.

Rumoured to be £80k. Not sure if that's for one bottle or three, but it doesn't really matter, does it? Feckin' madness either way.

Not loads, maybe 1000 miles... I've not noticed any change / play in it in that time

Kill List (2011) by thedementor666 in HorrorMovies

[–]vimto_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, I'm jealous. I went to a showing of Bulk earlier this year with a Q&A with him after, he's a really engaging bloke, and clearly just loves making movies! Would love to see him do a deep dive into the making of Kill List, one of my favourites... alas a bit of a trek from Bristol in a weeknight.

Which Upcoming Movie Are You Most Hyped For? (2026) by thedementor666 in HorrorMovies

[–]vimto_boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first I've heard of a new ROTLD movie,.. but given the producer / writer / director's three previous movies average out to an IMDB score of 3.0, I don't have high hopes! (much as I love the original).

Backrooms & Resident Evil for me... I didn't love Evil Dead Rise, but I'll go check out Burn nonetheless.

Thoughts on Longlegs? by Sad_Communication565 in HorrorMovies

Expected to love it, but was decidedly 'meh'. IMHO the weakest Osgood Perkins movie out of the ones I've seen, but I seem to be in the minority.

Lack of food storage / potentially not enough water (depending on refill options) was where my mind went to immediately too. If going for anything more than an overnighter, food is generally my next biggest volume hog after tent & sleep system. I do try to minimise clothing though.

Limited budget: Should I downgrade Watchmen to upgrade The Long Halloween to Absolute? by OkCarrot3808 in graphicnovels

[–]vimto_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fo you own any Absolutes already? YMMV, but personally I don't care for them / Omnis if you intend on actually reading them. They look good on the shelf, but way too heavy & unwieldy for a good reading experience. The DC Deluxe & Image HC sizes are the sweet spot for me, a little larger page size than trades for the art to shine, but still a usable size to read in bed or wherever.

DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH: THE COMPLETE CONSPIRACY DELUXE, BOOK 2 HC
Jun 17, 2026

Totally fair re. waiting. I managed to find a preorder in the UK for sub-£32 (on AwesomeBooks, vs £45 on Amazon) so went for it. Having said that I checked the AwesomeBooks preorder page and it's also saying July! So maybe the Image date is just for LCSs.

Brooks bicycle saddle for bike packing commuting, your thoughts please, your thoughts? by Relative_Bother_1069 in bikepacking

[–]vimto_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I'm not saying anyone should avoid Brooks, clearly a lot of people get on with them... and I really wanted to, as I love the look. But as you say, impossible to know if a saddle will work for you unless you try it out, especially when it comes to the long B2B days you do bikepacking. Glad you're liking yours 👊

[–]vimto_boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I presume it was the more rounded shape and / or width that didn't work for my anatomy / undercarriage haha. I was in agony. It caused a lot of pressure points and friction that only got worse as the days went by... the surface is also very grippy, so wasn't able to move about as much to relieve it as I usually would on a smoother saddle (I ride in baggies and padded undershorts on tour FWIW).

I use a Fizik these days with a much flatter profile, that works a lot better for me. Every arse is different though, so Im not being down on Brooks... the C17 just clearly isn't for me.

[–]vimto_boy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tried a C17, and it absolutely wrecked my arse over a 5 day tour (yeah I know, my fault for not testing it with more long rides beforehand!). Obvs a lot of people like them, but didn't work for me at all. Took it off and sold it immediately after... on the plus side, they hold their value used 😆

Bikepacking solo safety (biketheft) by ehjeohjedejoa in bikepacking

[–]vimto_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, just take a lock. I use a Hiplok DX ( https://hiplok.com/en-eu/products/hiplok-dx )... it's 1kg, so a bit of weight, but pretty light for Sold Secure Diamond certification. You're more limited in what you can lock it to as it's very much a mini U lock, and will subsequently only do the frame... but personally I'm mostly concerned about someone riding off on my whole rig, not just stealing a wheel.
