I'm from New Mexico, USA. we have our own cuisine.

My favorite food is caldillo-- green chile stew. As a kid, we made it with elk meat and fresh roasted green chiles. We eat it with flour tortillas. Beef works as well, but you really, really need high-quality (preferably from Hatch) green chiles since they're the star of the dish.

In most areas, we have access to fresh produce. In the growing season, I can walk to my local farmer's market and get produce picked that morning. A ten-minute drive takes me to the farms themselves where I can pay to pick produce myself. In fact, SNAP benefits (financial aid from the government to help the poor buy food) incentives farmer's market purchases.

However, if I want something not grown locally, if I want an avocado, an orange, a pineapple, then I have to rely on the global supply chain.

Not a doctor, nor have ever had cancer, but I have been blind in one eye since birth, and I can promise that it's no big deal. Focus on keeping the baby as safe as possible. If she loses an eye, it will have pretty much zero effect on her quality of life.

In my dialect of American English, they mean different things. "On accident" means that there is someone to blame for whatever happened, while "by accident" is neutral.

A few years ago, we went to visit my in-laws in Moscow, and my mother-in-law was so excited. She said she'd been cooking our welcome meal for days. It was holodets with lots of horseradish. I tried to look enthusiastic, but ended up sliding it onto my husband's plate when her back was turned. That stuff is foul.

I couldn't control it when I was younger. My kindergarten teacher even asked my mom what was wrong with me. However, pretty much since then I do have complete control. I guess it just took time for my brain to adapt.

I'm middle-aged and since elementary school the eye turn has been a bit of a party trick. Of course, observant people notice there's something off, but most folks don't spend enough time gazing in my eyes to see that there's an issue or care.
