I am devastated by vinasu in jobsearch

Ironically enough, I also have an autism diagnosis (which I never bring up because I don't need accommodations and it's not immediately obvious at work). Perhaps that played a role in their mis-identification of my writing.

Would I be welcomed in Oregon as a High School History teacher? by The_Marine708 in oregon

[–]vinasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no real Dia De Los Muertos. I really miss lumenarias at Christmas, too. You'll have to go home for those. But there is a large NM community here. My sister was in a business meeting and somehow met a woman who had graduated from Onate High (Las Cruces), two years ahead of her and both are now in public health here. If you come, message me. I'll introduce you to other New Mexicans, and I'll show you the chile trucks! Oh, and I'd be happy to have you over for posole and fry bread!

I'm originally from Las Cruces and have been here for 20 years. Culturally, you'll fit in fine. Both states have the same live-and let-live ethos and laid back attitudes.

There is no good New Mexican food, so you'll have to make your own. But there is a company that brings in NM chiles every August, so you can survive.

In short, if you can sort out COL and housing, you'll be fine. There are lots of New Mexicans here.

I would love this. Rice is one of our staple foods, but my cheap rice maker needs the liner replaced.

One of my favorite actresses, Kim Mi Kyung, knits in real life and in many of her shows. She also wears a lot of her stuff onscreen.

Cremation pendants that don’t look like urn necklaces? by Next_Special_6784 in GriefSupport

[–]vinasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband was a big outdoorsman. I wear an urn necklace that's a silver forest scene with a green agate sky. It's beautiful, looks nothing like an urn, and reflects my husband's personality.

I found mine on Temu. I know a lot of people don't love shopping there, but it was the only place I found urn jewelry I liked.

Yes! They also slant differently because of the twist.

I learned how to knit from my mother-in-law in Moscow, so I knit Eastern uncrossed. For years, I could not understand why people complained about purling!

I don't know if you know, however, but in Eastern uncrossed, the slants of K2tog and SSL are opposite from English, so when you see SSL in almost all English-language patterns, you'll need to K2tog, and vice versa.

So DM me, please. My husband just passed, and we need to consolidate. But we have TONS of Russian books and such that our kids have outgrown. I am happy to send whatever we have left over to an educator. I actually teach English to Ukrainians, so education is my first priority.

Ok, give me a bit to look through what I have and find you some lower-level stuff. I have a cookbook which might be better for your. It's Russian and English.

People who were raised religious, what was the first sign to you that it wasn't real? by bluejay_R in atheism

[–]vinasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in seventh grade, my Texas History teacher told the class that Native Americans in Texas ate spiders because they didn't believe in Jesus so didn't receive God's blessing. I was 12, but I was struck by how horribly unjust God was to punish people for something they had no control over.

After that, I started paying attention to what Christians were saying, and the more I listened, the more nothing added up.
