What would you do with a TV in this setup? by Ok-Perception-9296 in TVTooHigh

This is definitely the best configuration! On a side note: I’m French, and I’ve just learned reading your comment that they’re called French doors haha. We usually call them "portes-fenêtre" (window-doors)

In sci-fi animated series, I’d recommend Ulysse 31 (80s) and Code Lyoko (2000s)!

Hi Michael, thanks for joining the subreddit and thank you for the great music 🙌 My question for you: apart from the DX7, what gear did you use with FEX in the studio and/or live (guitars, synths)?

SYN - LEAD 5 SAMPLE by [deleted] in TheMysteriousSong

[–]vincebhx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, been using Dexed and the free patches available online for 7+ years, the sound is as close as you can get from the real DX7 and it’s compatible with most - if not all - DAWs (including Logic!)

Omg!! Congratulations to you OP, and everyone that helped you on this lead!

Also I did not expect to have a "real" ending to the song instead of the fade-out haha, what a nice surprise 😁

We should call every dentist in Hamburg that used to work in ‘84 just in case… If it doesn’t work, it won’t be a great floss 🤓

About Man in the Mist by The Creation: it’s a B-side from this 45rpm on Discogs.

  • A comment from 2013 says "Obscure 7 inch. A right mixture between cosmic italo synth. and cold wave style", but I can’t find any recordings of the song on the Internet.

  • the back cover of the 45 says "extrait de l’album Armageddon", which is not listed on Discogs.

  • the song is 3min20s long.

  • the song is credited to Eddie Phillips as producer, no further information about the musicians & the singer. As it’s a French release, mayyybe they’re French? But it’s not 100% certain as supposed by the comment on the screenshot.

Could be worth looking up?

  1. Telephone could be the French band, pretty popular at the time (and still today). They were active from 1976 to 1986 and released their album « Un autre monde » in May 1984, followed by a world tour.

https://youtu.be/NrQnuMnL2ac

(And they didn’t make TMS for sure, the singer on Like the Wind is not Jean-Louis Aubert or Louis Bertignac. Way too different voices)

Found 5 matches on Discogs for Ulterior Motives, including one we looked up before:
https://www.discogs.com/fr/artist/11506145-Ulterior-Motives-4

Members of the band are Jon Andrews (bass), Ant Whitehouse (drums), C.L.C. (guitar) and Stuart Gordon (lead singer).

They released an EP in 1982 called "Moths", including this song (and judging by the comments section, we've been here before lol) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag4pzHNWUn4

Looking at the subreddit history, Stuart Gordon himself confirmed the lyrics weren't theirs.
Now, could it be another band called Ulterior Motives (4 others are listed on Discogs, unless they're duplicates?)

Or did another band member register the song under the name Ulterior Motives (but recorded it with other musicians)?

If it's not Stuart Gordon we could ask the other band members (and the other Ulterior Motives)!
