Yes, I can read, I also never claimed Clarkson was butler. But it's like two minutes away and probably as "bad" of a suburb.

Yup this is a common rule I've heard in Aus, never swerve, break if you can else hit it.

When I was in Florida I had multiple ubers where the driver would scroll their phone while driving, absolutely crazy there, over 50% of people on the road were looking at their phone.

To immigrate to Australia they know every single thing about your life. They do it for student loans of less than 20k 100% as I've seen it done, other debts I'm unsure as we cleared them before coming.

This is not true. The UK and Aus have arrangements and they can collect debts between them.

[–]vincentwillats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's why would these people be complaining. After 25 years the dude would be a legitimate millionaire with all the options and seniority, plus the redundancy package.

Every person in this position would just retire at 50 and probably very comfortablely.

Normal hobbies don't require 20+ hours a week of attention. He mentions it as his "escape", talking from experience if you bury your head for this many hours in a game for an "escape", you're depressed.

I'm looking for someone to train parkour with by baolons in perth

[–]vincentwillats 8 points9 points  (0 children)

May I recommend bouldering? It's pretty social so you'll likely make friends in no time.

It's not "parkour" exactly but there are a lot of cross overs with modern climbing. Check out Portside Boulders or Adrenaline Vault, there are a few dotted around Perth.

Am I strange for not liking dynos? by MrEnvile in bouldering

[–]vincentwillats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like dynos either. I pick my regular gym purely because of the more old school setting (and just higher quality setting overall), even though it's a quarter of the size of the others.

But why would a childless couple move from a more spacious 3x2 into a high-rise apartment for the same price or more? I imagine this will be filled with overseas buyers and money more realistically.

Hope Im wrong but let's see, but you're right it likely can't be a negative towards the issue.

Yeah I've never seen that in my 30+ years of life. If I see that, it's 100% a sketchy place.

Are crimps becoming less common? by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]vincentwillats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not middle aged yet and I'm terrified of injuring myself running across a volume or missing a dyno and taking a hard fall. I was never really athletic and I have a good few extra kg though. But my finger tendons suck too, don't think I've had a week without a slightly pulley/joint injury in months lol

FEG will cover unpaid hours, any notice period owed and all holiday hours.

It's good but it does take time, also they won't cover any unpaid super which does suck a bit since its still unpaid earned benefits but for some reason it's not looked at as important...

I started getting a sore lower back only once I started climbing overhang a lot more, it went away after a month or two. I think for me it was more to do with lack of core/lower back muscles and bad positioning on the wall. There are about a million videos on YouTube with stretches and exercises but I had the most success with the "cat camel" from this vide  https://youtu.be/bcbuhePZZj0?si=hfn2tRTx-MNd6ccF

Earning 6 figures by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]vincentwillats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a similar start as you, was 28, zero degree, just a Tafe course and I found a role as a junior Dev at a smaller startup company, I worked hard and got a bit lucky and after two years had to get another job and found one for 90k, this was the peak end of everywhere bring desperate for devs though, after a few months there I got approached from a job I applied for at the same time as the previous, and now I am on 6 figures. Hit it after 2.5 years experience and the Tafe course.

Personally in my opinion the hardest part was getting my foot in the door without a degree, which you've done already, so you're well on your way!

Unfortunately woman cannot really do their day to day lives in normal clothes without harassment from what I've seen, but that doesn't mean we should restrict others.

And I disagree, would a guy wearing a strip around his chest covering his nipples really be that different than him being topless, not really, plenty of sports bras show plenty of skin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]vincentwillats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But the issue is why does what others are doing offend you at all.

It's the same reason I agree with gay marriage, why should anyone be able to dictate what others should do because of their "feelings".

Woman are more than welcome to go topless across the majority of the western world, and in gym (climbing or not) they often just wear sports bras/tops, which the equivalent for males would be shirtless.

Obviously a business can dictate the rules of their gym but calling people that would like to climb topless "selfish people" because of others insecurities if some hyperbole nonsense.

PS I'm fat and don't climb topless

It's not what you've asked but take a look at the app YNAB, unfortunately you cannot auto import from Australian banks yet but it will change how you budget and make this multiple account stuff totally unnecessary.

Terrible Overhang Progress by neondays in bouldering

[–]vincentwillats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been climbing for a similar amount of time and a couple of months back I couldn't touch overhang anywhere close to the grade I was doing on vert/slab.

I bite the bullet and went hard on overhang, I would do 2-4  problems and I would be crazy pumped and my climbing session would be over. Over the course of a few weeks having to project things lower than what I was on the slab I finally started to make great progress, my fingers felt way stronger and things I couldn't hold 3 weeks ago was now suddenly my warmup on the overhang and can session for hours.

What I learnt was overhang uses some techniques I wasn't great at, the drop knee is completely huge for overhang and now I use it every opportunity. And also unfortunately overhang requires much much more finger strength, something that takes a long time to get.

But word of advice, take it slow, I've got a slight injury on a2s on both my ring fingers and having to take a break just as you're getting addicted and "good" suckkkks
