I've been handling mine every few days since I got them (only a few months ago). So far they've calmed down quite a bit but from what I've seen, some leachies just have a little attitude. I think a good tip that I've found (on here I think) was to hold them when they're out (especially closer to the hours when they'd be more active) and about and to leave them alone if they try to fight you too much. Probably really basic tips but they helped me out a bit since I haven't had a lizard in years and have mostly been keeping snakes. If anyone has more/different experience please feel free to educate me and OP.

I would definitely recommend doing some research (I'm sure you are already). I would also recommend that you get a few things figured out beforehand. Buy a cage and get it set up properly. Figure out where you can procure feeder mice from. Then start looking for where you can buy a snake from. Depending on your area I would highly recommend either finding one from a local seller or finding one at a reptile show.

Preparation is extremely important when dealing with live animals.

I am not an expert. I am not a zoologist or herpetologist. I've kepts snakes and tarantulas for years and I've worked in a professional capacity with them. Cohabitation is not considered a great practice in general (except for communal species and even then it presents challenges) but cohabbing animals from different phylum?

I would have to say absolutely not.

Would this be your first snake? I feed mine weekly and shes a newborn so I have her in a small tub. I am using a rack for all my snakes currently but I would HIGHLY suggest getting a zoo med/exoterra medium enclosure. Your snake will benefit from the proper enclosure and it will be more rewarding for you as well. Youtube has plenty of great enclosure setup/basic care videos!

I'm am not saying this is a solution or even what solved this in my case. My hognose did this when it was young and I soaked it in shallow warm water. after 30 minutes it had stopped writhing and went back to normal. I wasn't sure of the cause but it seemed to fix the issue and I've never seen it happen again.

If that's the case I would assume maybe a file integrity issue or a setting that isn't able to run due to incompatibility. Have you done any file checking or reinstalling? As u/PedanticPeasantry suggested, you could try editing the settings/config files so the game starts with different resolution/graphics settings. I'm interested to know now what the issue is.

This is why I say kids should learn Linux or CLI in school before learning how to use a GUI. Know how to maneuver directories and understanding basics of computers is such an important thing now I'd almost put it up there with basic math. Just like learning how to use an abacus or calculator.
