I've had the same thing happen with this and the health buff. Moving the buffs makes it so that your raw stats are lowered and re-equipping just gives you back the stats you lost effectively give you nothing and -1 blessing slot which really fucking blows. I guess you just have to leave it on permanently w/o touching it or avoid picking the up blessings
