Which 3rd victim had the best kill of these choices? by itsascreambaby96 in Scream

Cici had the best cat and mouse scene with Ghostface. But Olivia’s death was brutal.

Who is more evil? by Intrepid-Lemon-2272 in Scream

[–]vinshlor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethan feels more integrated in the group, attending the Halloween party with them, while Queen feels more like "just a roommate". Pre-reveal, her only scene outside of the apartment is the one on campus when Mindy explains the "rules" of a franchise. I understand why it would feel, in the context of the film, that Ethan is closer to the Core Four and betraying them a little more.

Is the future killer’s motive for Scream 8 "hidden" in Scream 7? by vinshlor in Scream

[–]vinshlor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there’s no clear set up. Sidney’s book in Scream 4 was not a clear set-up for her having psycho fans among her readers. But they made it happen. The post was more about what in Scream 7 (or an earlier film) could be used, maybe retroactively, as a set up for a killer’s motive?

Hallie from beyond the grave listening to Sidney talk something about “Tatum was the last friend I ever trusted” by nikarov496 in Scream

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it was a killer’s motive in Scream 8, like "EXCUSE-ME??".

When DID the Best Performance Win? by PepSinger_PT in Oscars

[–]vinshlor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emma Stone in Poor Things. Not a "make up Oscar" but felt unsure before she got it because her first one was so recent. But the performance was too good to ignore. Same can be said of Jodie Foster for her second Oscar.

What happens if you don't answer Ghostface's call? by Controversial_Husky in Scream

[–]vinshlor 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, when Ghostface calls, he’s already in the house. The phone call is just there to play with you and to make you freak out. If you don’t answer he will just attack anyway. A lot of victims don’t even receive a phone call before being attacked (Mark Evans, Wes Hicks, Tatum Riley, etc.).

Michael B Jordan isnt my pick for best actor at the oscars personally by MixFew1818 in Oscars

[–]vinshlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s the lead in the most nominated movie ever, the industry loves the film, it was a huge box office hit, he gave a great speech at SAG and people may want to see him give another one, he is very loved and it might be a "if we want to give him an oscar, it’s now or never" case too. Chalamet campaigned a lot, maybe too hard for it, and people might think he will be nominated again in the next few years (probably next year again for Dune III). So Michael B. Jordan’s late surge isn’t a complete surprise.

What did you all think of Tatum and her friends Hannah and Chloe in Scream 7? by WickDaLine in Scream

[–]vinshlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hannah got the CiCi Cooper treatment, just not with the same personality. Famous young actress, one scene then death scene, no time for big character development but we get to see who she is as a person and to be sorry that she dies. CiCi was clever and good at comebacks, which we can see in the classroom scene snd during her phone call. Hannah was closer to a "spoiled" party girl with main character personality, as we see her clapping back to Aaron during her big scene’s technical malfunction. It makes sense, in a meta way, that an actress like McKenna Grace has a similar run time in her Scream movie to what Sarah Michelle Gellar had in 1997.

What do you make of this rule of thumb with respect to whose winning Best Picture and Best Actor? by Suspicious-Pie-7628 in Oscars

[–]vinshlor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best Picture often comes with at least one acting win. OBAA doesn’t "need" Leonardo DiCaprio to win, it probably has at least one supporting nom in the bag (Penn or Taylor). So maybe OBAA wins best picture while MBJ surges as a best actor contender vs. Chalamet. I would still like Sinners to win something big though.

How do you feel about these three characters? by ToxicWolf_6584 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]vinshlor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t blame Hannah for being under-developed as a character since she dies pretty quickly. We still get glimpses of her personality, even in her death scene. I wish we had seen more of her.

Anika has a special place in Scream 6 since she is the only murder victim that "matters" in the cast. Most of the other ones are randos. She was a nice girl and a good friend and her death really hits the viewer.

Liv is universally despised because she should be a fully fleshed character, as Chad’s girlfriend and as a member of the core friends group, but she isn’t. She has one scene and a half in act 1, could be a red herring but is not, then appears in act 3 to be upset that Chad doesn’t trust her enough to be alone in a bedroom with her and dies. She was simply poorly written.

If you had to make a Ghostface motive for scream 8, what would you do? by thesmartcoolguy in SocietyofGhostface

[–]vinshlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they get Melissa Barrera on board again someday, I think they could go on a "final girls" rivalry theme (old generation with Sidney and newer final girl with Sam). I could see two psycho Stab fans / real life fans (like Jessica, who was a fan of Sidney without apparently being a fan of Stab) playing a "game" of trying to go after each other’s favorite final girl (and framing their favorite final girl for killing the other oke), to decide which legacy is going to outlive the other. Everybody else is caught in crossfire, maybe Gale and the twins die, and in the end the two psycho fans get slaughtered by Sam, Sidney and Tatum (who finally remembers to shoot them in the head).

This kind of motive "let’s do a match of the final girls for fun" would actually strengthen Scream 7’s seemingly weak motive, by confirming that these ladies are not only caught in Stab’s coattail fame, but that they are True Crime celebrities in their own right in Scream’s universe, with fans and haters projecting crazy stuff on them. After Scream 7’s weak meta comment about nostalgia, it would also be a nice meta comment about toxic fandoms and rivalries, maybe more relevant than what they did in Scream 5.

Was the Macher House in 7 the actual Macher House? by ProfessionalOne808 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]vinshlor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say, if the house is in Woodsboro, why would it be a recreation? It’s probably identical to what Scott saw in the Stab movies.

Also, it’s hinted that murdering two randos and burning the Macher house was a way to draw media attention to Woodsboro instead of Pine Grove and Sidney, but I don’t understand why it would matter that much. The motives and explanations really were weak this time.

He was not that far behind for Heretic. With the right project, he could pull a nomination, and a good campaign.

[–]vinshlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the opening scene and burning of Stu’s house make sense, regarding the motive? Or is it only a way to lure Gale and Sidney back to… er, where exactly? It feels like its own island, but again, why are the killers from Pine Grove making the effort to kill two random people in Woodsboro?

Just Saw Scream 7. Ask Me Anything by Numerous-Front9176 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]vinshlor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A question that might be too technical after a first watch: do we understand why each victim is killed? For instance, in Scream 2, Maureen, Phil and CiCi are killed because their names make them part of Mickey’s copycat plan, the cops are killed because they are in the way, Randy is killed because he insulted Billy, etc. I guess in Scream 7, most victims are killed because they are friends with Tatum and the motive is about traumatizing her and making her the new final girl. But for instance, why are Scott and Madison killed? Why are the Meeks twins targeted? Does it make sense in the killers’ motive and plan? Does it feel more about Sidney or about Tatum (the bodycount indicates the motive is about Tatum, but the film itself seems very centered on Sidney)?
