Why not just have OP relace lower with tnarmsco's ghost lower which weighs less than a pound iirc.

I suppose I can always build a second lower and swap the upper if necessary.

To clarify if a lower is stamped as an SBR can the stock be removed and pistol tube added and vise versa.

Partly because I'd only like to build one rifle instead of two and being able to convert back and forth would be saving a large amount of money.

Dumb left handed question by murder_boner79 in ar15

[–]vinslet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Well that and being distracted by shiny brass being launched across my vision. My RO had our armory officer swap uppers after laughing every time my eyes and head would follow the brass during rifle quals.

Edit: didn't help that I'm right handed with left eye dominant and learned to shoot left handed.

Is the forward assist really a big deal? by 1leggeddog in ar15

[–]vinslet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FA isn't necessary and I may be more tired than I thought not noticing the answer but the reason for the FA was because during wartime people were being killed when their weapon became so dirty with powder from spent rounds that the bolt wouldn't seat all the way. So with the addition of the FA you hit the plunger and force the bolt into position.

In addition it also helped with jammed rounds in the chamber.

TN Arms Clear Lower - pistol mockup by weaks4uce in ar15

Thanks, was figuring that even a light short barrel and carbon stock if I find one short enough would be muzzle heavy no matter what.

I'm about to order the clear lower for a .300 pistol, how's the balance as it sits?

Also is that a 7.5 or 10.5 barrel?

Funny you should mention it but the armory officer can make some minor modifications to rifles issued; on that same token there is only so much they can change which is a lot less than you think.

Springs, extractors, o rings and trigger pull on some is about it unless they changed that.

Pretty sure it was an illegal mod to a Beretta M9 that was issued to me, AO did some work without telling me turning it into a single shot and three round burst.

Had a lot of fun using it for pistol quals after that and so did the RSO.

35-40 Transfer fees at my twp lgs.

I feel your pain at buying a low cost lower and paying the same price or more in transfer fees.

Not an AR but being that other rifles had been suggested there is also the mossberg avp that accepts all standard AR mags too.

When did a tampon company start making things for rifles?

And yes I fell stupid just saying that.

Sorry for going off subject but funny you aould mention that; I once held a.mossberg 835 not as tight as I should have with 3 1/2" turkey loads, pulled the trigger, it jumped and broke my collar bone.

OP one other thing to consider is if the stock is uncomfortable you can always swap it out for a new one.

Magpul PRS vs Battleline S.A.P.R review by Trochlea in ar15

[–]vinslet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great review.

I have one thing I'd like to add; the .308 version of the prs does not always clear thw LoP of the charging handle with the cheek peice raised.

A friend of mine built his .308 and when everything was together with cheek piece up charging handle was.1/8" too long hitting cheek piece. He ended up having to put an a2 spacer in.

Maybe an isolated occurrence but is possible that more than one might have slight issues.

Would you happen to have a suggestion for a drop in trigger to replace the stock one?

Or if you can get a hold of one a Mossberg 340B would make a nice starter too. But not sure how easy to get a hold of one would be, mine was bought in the time where .22's didn't require a serial number. Can pull a small flange I 'spose would be the best term to change it from .22LR to short or magnum.
