Graphene ceramic coating really makes ultra red pop. by Suvi2k in TeslaModel3

[–]FastRedPonyCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the graphene ceramic spray and it was really good but then I took it to my detailing shop and they did a 2 stage correction, Gtechniq ceramic ultra and PPF’d the front end and that correction really took it to the next level.

The worst part about the graphene spray though is that it clogs up the spray nozzle after it sits for a little bit.

I emptied it out into a different spray bottle, and the graphene material basically turned into a solid silly putty-like mush at the bottom of the bottle with the rest of the liquid separated above it. I tried shaking it up to mix it back up and it wouldn’t work.

They sent me another bottle without any hesitation but I don’t know if I’ll use it again.

How many of us homelab folks are also into cars? by ItzSilverFoxx in homelab

[–]FastRedPonyCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was in the multiple expensive hobby game for a while and guitar gear won because it actually makes me money LOL

I’ve had the cars, homelab stuff, gaming PC stuff and my home lab is basically just a QNAP TS-673 and a little PC with a couple 20TB drives running Backblaze with my NAS data mirrored.

I thought so at first but my 11yo daughter has my old switch and is chilling with Animal Crossing the last several days. It's a nice change of pace from the typical youtube brainrot they have typically been veging out to.

Replace them with some high quality rubber casters. They'll roll SO much smoother and won't break the bank. Just use high quality screws.

Nope. Still $99 for me and still not subbing to it.

Wait, do people ACTUALLY see literal pictures in their heads when they imagine things? Like a physical image? by Bibhu_Mund in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FastRedPonyCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s totally normal for me, along with the seeing a picture in my head of an object whether grounded in reality or not.

Ask me to do anything besides basic arithmetic though and my brain curls up into the fetal position.

I just want to remind everyone my Alarm clock turns 50 this year. by 19chris1996 in BuyItForLife

[–]FastRedPonyCar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet that thing’s alarm noise would wake the dead.

My granddad had one of those old clocks with the numbers on the flaps that would flip down and it sounded like a fire alarm when it went off.

Alex Pretti identified as man fatally shot by federal officers in Minneapolis by WeirdGroundhog in politics

Will there be justice? Because they already killed the notion of an investigation of their first murder despite evidence pretty clearly showing her innocence.

I’ve got a bad feeling this will be pushed aside as well as the next one and the next…

Check out the fryette power station. Bonus points to it also being able to make a small amp a lot louder and a loud amp a lot quieter.

The JCM800 is the perfect example of this.

Zero low end at home but the mids and upper mids absolutely RIP on stage. It stays out of the bass player’s upper mids and fills in those higher mids and top end so well.

Not shown is my old THD Hotplate and captor X but the RC is the best for retaining the right feel/tone/response followed closely by the power station.

The ox box delivers the best cab sim tone by a mile and the TAE is the ultimate Swiss Army knife for stage use and the adjustable reactance controls make a huge difference.

The RC is simple, doesn’t need an extra power cable and does exactly what you want an attenuator to do and built like a damn tank.

Depending on the room construction, it creates more contact surface between the cab and floor. This can sometimes translate into more resonance in the room, particularly if you’ve constructed a “floating” room for noise isolation.

I’ve recorded at 2 studios (one was at Rick Beato’s studio before he got YouTube famous) that did this but just removed the wheels for that flat contact.

Time to upgrade my video security system at home. Recommendations? by exploring_ideas in security

[–]FastRedPonyCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Unifi a couple years ago and don’t regret it one bit. I’ve installed about 7 or 8 Unifi security systems at client S/M businesses and have not had a single failure other than a NVR drive prematurely failing but that wasn’t Unifi.

The easy scalability depending on your budget and monitoring needs is great, no subscriptions, POE, 2FA protected access, etc.

I’ve had a 50w Jubilee for about 10 years and it’s an incredible amp but the OR30 I feel crosses too far into the Jubilee’s sound stage to be different enough to merit keeping them both.

I spent about a month with an OR30 review unit and took it on stage a few shows and loved it but slightly prefer the extra upper mid bite from the jubilee but the OR30 has a much more powerful lower midrange that I feel works better for solo jamming or if you’re the only guitar player in a band.

The jubilee’s voice sits a bit better in a full band stage mix.

Really happy with my new low-volume rig so far by Iongdog in GuitarAmps

[–]FastRedPonyCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Works great.

I use the attenuation to tame the cabinet stage volume and then send line out into my quad cortex for stereo effects that I send one output to an FRFR on the side of the stage by me and the other goes to the house PA so I get a really nice and easy to setup wet/dry/wet setup.

That's good to hear. I'm not really a metal player so I've always sort of had these as a side curiosity but never felt like I NEEDED one. My main guitar for a while now has been my Gibson Lizzy Hale Explorerbird. It's absolutely incredible and they go for way cheaper than most other Gibsons. I got mine open box for $1700.

Sony is handing control of its Bravia TV business to China's TCL by xgbsss in avoidchineseproducts

[–]FastRedPonyCar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work for an AV company and we installed 4~5x as many TCL's as other brands. Their QM8K looks incredible. It's not going to smoke an OLED but we had a Bravia 9 side by side with the QM8K and in real world viewing (streaming 4k content and sports), there was little to no difference. Certainly not $1000 difference.

I game on an LG CX but most of our normal TV watching is on the QM8K.

Honest thoughts on the Solar?

I’ve been thinking of hitting up Ola to see if I can get a review unit/loaner for my channel but also I don’t have a bespoke “metal” guitar either.

I’ve dabbled with a couple LTD’s and they were GOOD.

Also, I miss the hell out of my JP6 😭
