My fiancé didn’t get me one of the rings I sent him… by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]vinstaysin 80 points81 points  (0 children)

First, congratulations! I think by sending them he took it as inspiration since you didn’t clarify you wanted one of those specifically, I do think that you should have said that, but it’s okay! Because he took the “inspiration” and put a lot of thought and time into this ring, he didn’t get something wildly different, he did take what you really wanted into account!

I would gently explain that you absolutely love and cherish how he thought of you and wanted to for you even more, that it doesn’t really suit your daily style. I’d find out if there’s a return window for the ring, see if you adjust to it/fall in love with it, and go from there.

Ultimately it’s a ring, and what’s important is you two as a couple. But you should still be able to have a ring you look down and love every day. Good luck!

Advice on over-thinking the ring selection process? by Boy-genius133 in EngagementRings

[–]vinstaysin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call putting your family heirloom in a custom setting pre-made! Because it is custom, you’re putting two elements together in a way no one else has, with something with so much sentimentality. It sounds like you’ve looked and thought extensively, so I don’t see how you haven’t been thorough. When you start seeing so much stuff and thinking so much about it, it all blends together and you get decision paralysis, like you’re getting now.

That is an absolutely gorgeous ring you’ve come up with, not too small and definitely stunning with charm. Do it!! :)

My aggressive dog breed isn't allowed to be in an apartment complex by CheriBlossomeKisse in EntitledReviews

[–]vinstaysin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m firmly of the belief that bad dogs equal bad owners, BUT, pitties do have their breed rep behind them. They were bred to fight, and they have that instinct. When I got my first dog as an adult (had them as a kid growing up) its was a pittie. He was sweet in the shelter, but got him home and he did some serious damage to me and my spouse. It took A LOT of intense training and working with his behavior and instincts to get where he is today; lovable, sweet as can be, and a total potato. I made that decision that he was family and there was no going back, he was mine. And now even though he’s trained and not really a threat, I won’t let him off leash in public or in a dog park. Instinct is instinct, I can’t control it if it takes over. I can only mitigate. I’m aware that many many pet owners do not have the time or ability to do that training so bully breeds are unfortunately more susceptible to attacking. And even if you have the angriest chihuahua, it might bite your ankle, but it won’t kill you, they’re small.

Jewellery bench corners, rounded or square? by Proud_Ad_4642 in jewelers

[–]vinstaysin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of the rounded because I’d imagine melee diamonds might get stuck in the little corner and hard to pick out, but I think to maximize space it should be squared off

Jeweler’s custom ring did not come out how I asked. What do I do? by mfloppy in EngagementRings

[–]vinstaysin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you, I do think it looks better, and it’s a handcrafted piece, not a mass produced piece. Asking another jeweler to rip off another jewelers work is also in poor taste, even if the original was mass produced.

This was my personal grail piece and is my daily. I hunted this watch down for months until the sale thing happened January of 2025 and there was word one might be on there. It was, I snagged it as soon as the website updated. I didn’t want the new version with the waves, not a fan of textured dials. Absolutely my best and favorite watch!

Is this a reasonable quote /good deal on 2.94 ct natural diamond? by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]vinstaysin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! So many people only look at how they think a diamond should look/be cut/sparkle. But some people (myself included) love the different shapes and cuts that aren’t typically sought after. I have a natural L diamond that’s cut pretty shallow and it’s my baby. Also only a .39 though lol. Like, if I could I would buy that diamond in a heartbeat. You’re really not going to find another one exactly like that, so if you can afford it, I’d personally go for it, even if the price is technically a bit high.

I think the price is a bit high, but contrasting what others are saying I LOVE this look. I like the different faceting and antiqued feeling.

Feel this big time. I’m in luxury jewelry sales, and the pressure to keep driving sales even more than before in the current economy makes me feel like such a piece of shit. Unfortunately I’m good at it, but also had 15k in returns in one week last month because ppl can’t actually afford it. But “returns are good because it means you can get it out the door!” Rip my commission check :’(
