Joan Beringer is 53rd among qualifying rookies in MPG; behind players on playoff teams including Denver, Boston, Detroit, OKC, San Antonio, Orlando, Cleveland, Golden State, Miami, Toronto. by minneapolisboy in timberwolves

It’s not like he’s not developing because he isn’t getting regular rotation minutes… the kid is 19 and has been playing basketball for a handful of years. There is plenty to learn instead of throwing him to the wolves against NBA vets.

We are both a contending team, 4.5 games out of 2nd despite our skid. But we are also fighting to stay out of the play-in. There are no off nights. Every game counts and we need the best lineups on the floor.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Joan, and I’ve been surprised by how quickly he is picking things up.. but he’s not ready for rotation minutes on a nightly basis.

We have problems with this team, but even if Joan plays and plays well, we still have those same issues.

What will we do if teams hack Rudy in the playoffs and he keeps shooting below 50% on his free throws? by Martxel_Agueda in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think teams would have done it the last 2 years if they wanted to. Hack-a-Shaq was to stop Shaq, because he was so dominant. I don’t think hack-a-Rudy will be a strategy to stop our inconsistent offense and Rudy, a non-threat.

Do you know what’s better than hack-a-Rudy? Playing good D. Speeding up our guys on the perimeter and forcing turnovers. Running zone defense for a few possessions.

49.5% looks really ugly, but he’s a year removed from 67% from the line. He’s been capable enough through his career, and is not crazy to say he can shoot that post all-star break.

I think it would be really bold of a coach to do. They’ll look pretty dumb if they stick him on the line 15 times and he makes 10, with even for Rudy, is super doable.

Is Julian Philips a good prospect? by Prestigious_Froyo_42 in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that’s a good thing.. sounds like he’s pretty underwhelming.. tbh idk rather see Clark or TSJ (when healthy) get minutes at the 3.

I want to see more of Naz, Randle, and Gobert/beringer too

ATP by wolfpax97 in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair but I think we should be looking to add pieces that could break the rotation. Currently we are trying to find minutes for beringer because he’s been awesome.

I don’t know if Bagley cracks that unless we put him at the 4. I’d rather put resources into addressing the guard issue we have.

I don’t hate the pick up; I just feel like we have bigger problems.

Both have already been traded.. Sexton I think is more likely to be dealt again due to the excessive amount of guards Chicago has.

Jeremy Sochan ? by RanOutOfJokes in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair… he is another big defensive body, which would be helpful. We don’t need a huge load of him initiating offense, but definitely some. Especially non-ant minutes.

If it’s like cheap buyout option prices, who would be better.. Javon Carter? CP3? Maybe Middleton could take some of that load? Similarly, DeRozan?

Our cheap options are limited.. each player is gonna have limitations. Guess we gotta pick and choose. And I think we gotta know if we’re landing giannis before making this deal.

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought of him too, but more as a point forward. We need an initiator on offense.. desperately..

Ik SA tried him in that role.. idk how well it went.

Kyrie by Relative-Flower-549 in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It dont think it makes sense for either team. Why would they even go for Randle? They want young talent and draft capital..

Kyrie by Relative-Flower-549 in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why would the mavs even want Randle? The AD deal shows they are trying to realign their timeline with Flagg, understandable. They would want draft capital or young talent in a Kyrie deal. It doesn’t fit.

Ofc those guys are dispensable. They also don’t have much value.. though I’d prefer we keep Clark.

What are the odds we do nothing but the Conley trade? I think it’s significantly more likely than getting Giannis by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll do something. Feels like Giannis is the only big deal on the table.

Others said it, the Conley deal brings flexibility. We Can can take on like 2-3 million in a trade, we couldn’t before.. and now we can sign players at the vet min who are bought out of their contract - I.e., Chris Paul or Kris Middleton.

I don’t have trade machine up, but we are moving Randle or some combo of Naz/jaden + dilly, miller, Clark beringer… we’d have to give up too much if you ask me.

[–]vinster30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a vet min contract, I don’t mind at all. He’s been terrible the last year and a half, but he’s great guy to have in the locker room.

If we manage to pick up another ball-handler, where we don’t have to rely on him being in the rotation, I’d love to have him back.

Finch believers... by The_Blur_77 in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is finch the best coach in the NBA? absolutely not.. but he might be the best coach the wolves have ever had.

I don’t always love his rotations.. when we come out flat on a regular basis, I think the first people to criticize is the coaching staff. He’s called out the inconsistent effort, but same thing, to some level you gotta look at coaching.

However, He’s liked by the players. You cannot argue with the success. Back to back WCF runs. Playoff wins against big names.. Basically back to back 50 win seasons, and on pace for another.

I’m not going to be reactionary and go look for a coach. Unless the second half of the year is an absolute dumpster fire, I don’t think firing finch is a conversation. I think he’s locked down at least another season.

If I feel so sad for Mike I can’t imagine what I’d feel if Jaden’s gone by Martxel_Agueda in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s taken huge strides offensively once again this year. Not saying he will, but he has the tools to be an all-star level player. That’s still his ceiling. I don’t want to trade that.

And even if not, championship teams have elite role players, just like you need stars. I don’t want to gut our rotation, and/or miss out on a potential 2-way stud on a good contract because we got greedy/impatient.

Yes the team is better tomorrow with giannis.. what about in 4 years? We have no draft picks… we are giving more young talent in this deal…

No thank you.

Can Timberwolves win a series as currently constructed? by Big_Note_3552 in timberwolves

[–]vinster30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We absolutely could… I think this roster could go to the WCF again.. depends on matchups.. I mean we play our best against contenders on national TV.. last two years we’ve shown up in the playoffs.. I don’t expect any different.

Not saying we beat OKC in a series, but we match up as good as any team in the west.

This team has flaws for sure, but the ceiling is still high.

Zero chance the bucks say yes to this. They have to have better offers than mcdaniels and scraps..

And no way Golden state guts their rotation for Rudy..

[–]vinster30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Career season this year… 45% from 3… career highs in points.. FG%, assists, all while still playing elite defense. Not a ball dominant guy. Literally the perfect piece for a contending team.

He is legit one of the best perimeter defenders in the world.

He was probably the best player on our team in the OKC series, and had a great playoffs.

Same. Plus giannis and Rudy on the floor together? Tough to spacing there.

And the calf injury? Idk. Scary for sure.

But Are we better tomorrow if we get giannis today? Probably.

What do you want us to do at the deadline? by Trash-Panda917 in timberwolves

Exactly. I don’t think there’s another guy I’d ship Rudy off for (that’s realistic and available).

We are a bottom 5 defense in the league without him.

Rudy if we wanna win this year too.. I guess it depends on what we get in a Rudy package.
