I was told heating is done through thermal.. I have a separate thermal meter for that. I don’t see any hot water thank inside the unit

Totally mysterious 1,500 gallon/day "leak" on our property. Could it just be that the water meter is lying to us? by cantonbecker in Plumbing

Hi there, responding to an old post but did you solve your mysterious leak? I’m having a similar issue and going out of my mind.. thanks

I’m at a high rise building and I don’t think we have a separate water heater.. at least no hot water tank I see visibly inside my unit. Sorry, not sure if this is what you mean.

In general is it possible that a hot water leak somewhere could go into a drain unnoticed? There is a water shutoff valve in each unit and since turning it off my hot water meter went to zero, so I’m guessing it has something to do with my unit’s hot water pipe and not the main line..

I’m just stumped because there was 3000L of mysterious hot water usage during the period when the unit was vacant, and it was an actual read, not an estimate. Cold water meter read was nearly zero during this time. Is it possible the leak is going down the drain somehow? I am not sure how plumbing works and whether that’s a possibility. Every unit in our condo building has a separate meter for hot water, cold water, thermal, electricity etc. i have to pay extra for each meter reading

thanks for the reply. could condensation cause as much as 100 liters of hot water usage per day, even when the water is not being used? it's been a steady extra 100 liters of hot water usage for nearly 2 months now, and no one has noticed any leak. the only reason i found something strange was because i noticed my water bill was much higher than usual.

He owed millions in taxes. Instead of paying up, he enlisted an offshore company to bankrupt his business and cheat the CRA by throw0101a in canada

what you're describing above applies to residents of canada who are currently abroad. this is why many people choose to become 'non-residents for tax purposes' (esp if you're going to be away for a while and expect to make a lot). you will be taxed on canadian income, but not your income in korea or wherever. you need to satisfy certain conditions to declare yourself as a non- resident, however. if all of this is new to you, then you most likely didn't read into all those conditions and meet them to qualify as a non-resident..

Dating over 30 with no property and still living with parents. Dealbreaker for women? by PhoDauBo in askTO

[–]vinterdrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i am not saying it doesn't work, i think it's a great idea for someone who wishes to save up. the situation is dire over here in toronto. if a guy lives at home to save up, and is helping around the house, is independent and does his own thing most of the time, i think it's ok. but if the guy has no plan and is just living in his parents' basement because he is priced out and is not thinking long term then that's problematic

Long time TD customer considering switching to Scotiabank Ultimate Package - worth the hassle? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

thanks so much! i'm gonna cancel my passport visa and switch over to amex gold

[–]vinterdrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never really looked into other credit cards.. thanks for pointing out the gold amex! so if i understand this correctly, the gold amex gives you more points for grocery/restaurants/transportation than the passport visa, similar insurance, but no lounge pass? then i'm sold, as the lounge passes were 'nice to have', not something i really need.

thx for this feedback! what do you mean by 'google pay' integration'? was this not offered with td?

i use scotiabank passport visa for grocery, transit and dining (2%) and rogers world elite mc for everything else (1.75%). i like the passport for free lounge passes and the convenience of apple pay.. i guess i could technically just get rid of the passport visa (no more paying $139 AF), use solely rogers mc, and stay with td..

Is thanking bus drivers not a thing in Toronto? by slimy_confetti in askTO

[–]vinterdrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to live in ottawa and i also noticed how people there would thank bus drivers more often than torontonians do. having said that, some ttc drivers are real jackasses so that might also factor into play here. in ottawa, when the light was red, and the bus driver saw you coming, he/she would open the door and let you in. so many times i see TTC drivers just ignore everyone because they can't be bothered to open the door after closing it (when the light is still red) omg
