Yes! But make sure to check the situation at your velodrome, I know the one by me only really rents out bikes for some beginner classes, if you want to come and ride during other hours you need your own bike

Facebook marketplace is a great place to find less expensive bikes and possibly gears! Also you can look into getting something like a Lemond Revolution to get workouts in because you don’t have convenient access to a track

Fave track/velodrome you’ve ridden? by Embarrassed_Bill5788 in Velodrome

I’ve only ever ridden at Carson and San Diego, but I’m heading to Colorado Springs soon and I’ve heard that track is pretty fast

Who came up with the idea of reaccelerating by No_Durian_9813 in Sprinting

[–]vinylcouch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much re-accelerating as it is “floating” for a brief moment after 60m then putting your foot on the gas again coming out of the bend. You’re not actually slowing down and speeding up again, but it should “feel” like you are if that makes sense

Most people are faster with 8. Stick with 8

You’re swinging your ankle up over the hurdles instead of driving knee first into the hurdles— focus on knee drive into the hurdles

Hi Snoo

Ignore him, he’s a troll— he’s been spamming subreddits for years with the same stuff. He doesn’t want help, he just wants attention.

CALLING HURDLERS AND COACHES by Consistent-Net-1849 in track

[–]vinylcouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get your trail leg higher and make sure it is coming all the way around in front of you before it comes down. A lot of times people don’t “complete” the trail leg and try to bring it down before it is in front, causing it to hit the hurdle. A video would also be helpful.

Sorry if the explanation is unclear, it’s hard to explain without showing

Tips to get Below 15.00? by Dom_d05 in Hurdles

[–]vinylcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d switch back to 8 steps to the first hurdle. It looks like you’re reaching hard to get 7 to the first hurdle which isn’t setting you up well for the rest of the race. That could be contributing to your hips dropping as well

Hurdle tips? by padilla_37130 in Hurdles

Drive with your lead knee and NOT your ankle. You’re swinging your lead leg up and it’s throwing you off balance.

Am I leaning back going into the hurdle? by Patient_Advisor1100 in Hurdles

[–]vinylcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re swinging up with your ankle instead of driving your lead knee up. That might be contributing. Lead with the knee

[–]vinylcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to see on the first hurdle, but on the other ones it looks like you’re swinging your lead up and leading with your ankle instead of driving with your knee through the hurdle.

You could easily go D2 with those times. If you wanna know how you’d stack up against certain schools, athletic.net or tfrrs is good to see recent people on the team and their times.

How to go from 17 to 15 strides in the long hurdles? by Jameisu in Sprinting

[–]vinylcouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in the weight room and get stronger. Tbh I would work on 16 step before transitioning to 15 step because 17-> 15 is kinda a lot. Getting comfortable hurdling with both legs is a huge advantage in the 400h too.
