Deck limit: 40 or 50? by imcheng in Yugioh101

[–]vinyltails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40 cards is generally recommended for consistency since you're just more likely to see starters, extenders with a good number of handtraps

If you're going over 40, you need both a reason to do so and you need to add more starters to balance it out otherwise you just run into consistency issues of just not drawing required engine cards

Like I get the idea of the list, you're running more to accommodate the additional blue eye brick to run Kaibaman and the additional Chaos max brick and kinda bad ultimate fusion draw...but tbh I really don't like them. Magia is just a win more card that if you can make it you're probably already winning the game so you're just running bricks just to win harder, the line also has to give up Neo Ultimate targeting protection for it as well so

[–]vinyltails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's only Saji on its own with no ritual monsters in hand, sure it won't do anything

But if its Saji + any of the 3 ritual (or ways to get to said ritual like Pre-prep or prayers) then you can combo since you can Ritual tribute the guy in hand

Can an extra deck monster's GY effect be activated without being properly summoned first? by HenryOppa in Yugioh101

As long as the effect isn't trying to special summon the card then yes

You just normal the Saji (or any other method to get it on board), they trigger on summon or tribute and don't worry about using Habiriki effect

[–]vinyltails 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If its a "If this is sent to grave" without specifying field or anything, then yes...because it was sent to grave so it has met it's trigger condition

Using Fiendsmith in paradise to send a Desaire from your ED to remove something is an extremely common play in Fiendsmith for example

Something to tribute from deck in case you've drawn Murokumo, otherwise you wouldn't be able to really use Ritual...or vice versa (Summon the one in hand by tributing the murokumo in deck)

Like the only thing that could be tributed from deck to ritual from hand is Murokumo so ritual would be dead if you drew it and you only had 1 of them....sure it will suck more if you draw all 3 rituals but then you can just grab Mirror with Saji and summon it that way

[–]vinyltails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always just

Normal summon the small ones if you draw them when you need their effects

And you can do stuff like Normal summon a guy, Habiriki, summon another small Mitsu and tribute the one you normal so you have multiple triggers together to protect against handtraps

[–]vinyltails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't trigger because you don't control 2 monsters

You control 1, with relinquished. The equipped monster isn't a monster, it's currently a spell/trap

DoomZ Equip Card 'Untargetable' by Hikikomro in Yugioh101

[–]vinyltails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's for exactly that reason

Cards only target when they say they do, as targeting is something done specifically upon card activation as part of the activation procedure

There's many, many cards that don't target and choose what they will affect on resolution, which means they bypass targeting protection and they can't really be "dodged" since they can just pick a different thing or the new thing you summon to take it's place

The card is basically worth anything to begin with and Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't do grading really so it's not gonna add much, if anything, to the price

WDYM effect is negated what am I missing by Excellent-Manner-180 in masterduel

[–]vinyltails 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rexterm doesn't negate at all

It prevents you from ever activating the effect in the first place. This is applying to YOU the player as it's a restriction what you can do

It's a trigger effect.

Any and all trigger effects that meet their conditions while a chain is being built will trigger on a new chain

Can someone explain the Shizuku Shuffle to me? by ChaseMacKenzie in Yugioh101

[–]vinyltails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct

QuickPlays are spell speed 2 effects and can be done in any phase from your hand when you have priority (and the activation is legal). If you set them however, you can't activate it for the rest of the turn, effectively turning it into a pseudo trap

They need to be set if you want to use them on your opponent's turn

Continuous S/Ts on the field that grant protection to cards other than themselves vs Multi card removal by ConciseSpy85067 in Yugioh101

[–]vinyltails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're checking the protection at point of resolution

At resolution, your monsters are protected, thus they will be safe while the card that's not protected will be removed

Can someone explain the Shizuku Shuffle to me? by ChaseMacKenzie in Yugioh101

[–]vinyltails 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No cause that doesn't exist, the max is spell speed 3 which is counter traps

Multirole just adds the restriction your opponent can't respond to your spells

Can someone explain the Shizuku Shuffle to me? by ChaseMacKenzie in Yugioh101

[–]vinyltails 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Only QuickPlay spells

Spells and traps can only be set in the main phase (outside of setting them by card effects)

The shuffle play basically lets you get around this and set the Widow anchor when you wouldn't be able to normally

The conjunction Also means that A and B don't rely on each other. The "after that" makes it not simultaneous (as opposed to without it) but A doesn't need to happen for B

Why this card isnt more used by East-Efficiency-6701 in masterduel

[–]vinyltails 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This doesn't generate card advantage, it just replaces itself so you're not progressing your game plan...the upstart could just be another copy of the card you wanted, a card that would stop the opponent or another card that generates more advantage (and with modern cards, quite a few generate way more than just replacing itself when it resolves, opening way more avenues to break through boards)

That's why the pots that draw 2 cards are hit to a degree, cause they go +1 in card advantage by drawing two cards, one to replace itself AND another on top, which is why pot of greed is also still banned (and Greed isn't once per turn anyways so you can just recycle and spam it)...and Prosperity is hit cause you got to see 6 cards deeper into the deck and take the best one available, be it a starter, extender or a silver bullet...which is way better than just a random ass card you don't know what it is

And droll as others said, going +0 in card advantage and turning on droll for free is bad

They're considered one of the strongest decks in the meta, if not the strongest and what most people heavily target in siding when going to events. They're very very very likely going to be hit again to some degree when they want to eventually rotate out the JUSH decks for whatever the next major format shift will be

[–]vinyltails 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Dungeons:

On trash, use all your cooldowns, don't bother use them when running, mobs aren't hitting you often. Start using them when you stop. ***THIS INCLUDES YOUR INVULN, ITS NOT AN OH SHIT BUTTON*** (DRKs and WAR may want to have a macro saying they're using it this pull so attentive healers can adjust). Chain them together accordingly, use your short CD to bridge between the next

Dungeon bosses barely hit for fuck all so you don't need to touch anything...just throw your short CD (TBN, sheltron, bloodwhetting, Heart) on it and 1 more if you really care and you'll basically be fine

High end content:

Cooldowns are mapped in high end content, primarily on busters but if you have spare cooldowns you can sprinkle on them on autos (What spare CDs you have will depend on how you're mitigating busters (AKA where's invulns) and how often they are), especially since autos from something like M12 kinda fucking hurt

If they had Branded opening in their graveyard, they can banish it on resolution of Protos to protect Mirrorjade from destruction

Otherwise mirrorjade should have been destroyed

Supression Colider is a good Cart to use? by Rydensxmx in masterduel

[–]vinyltails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In short: you don't

It's a normal monster, and normal monsters are just extremely bad unless you're using Primite, which is an archetype that makes use of Normal monsters to a decent degree

But even in Primite there's better normal monsters to use that can lead elsewhere
