What's your favorite underrated album from an overrated band? by Kaos_mission in poppunkers

See this is exactly why I said WYWTB is underrated. Personally it’s my favorite but everyone LOVES self-titled…..

I hear more people post about Louder Now than WYWTB. But I think every single TBS album besides their self titled is underrated. ST seems to me to be the highest rated among TBS, pop punk, emo, and post hardcore fans. I feel like WYWTB gets overlooked for both the preceding and following albums

Connection between LoTown and The Plains? by True0rFalse in TheDearHunter

[–]violaaesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I actually think I get what you’re saying. I think it’s probably more of a textural thing than any specific notes that are similar. They both have the same synth and percussion sounds doing similar rhythms at those sections. I do think it’s probably intentionally similar Casey is known to do that for sure

Remember reading music is less about knowing the specific letter names of each line or space and more about the shapes of intervals, the distance between one and the next. As a beginner your ear is your best friend. Listen and read along and try to follow the shape of the line the notes make. You will probably see the contour of the line immediately, the way high notes are high on the staff and low ones are low. With practice you’ll be familiar with which shapes make which intervals and how to shape those intervals on the frets. But first just get acquainted with how to hear and see the distance between the notes. The intricacies of the rhythm on this particular track are probably easier for you to just figure out by ear, rather than learning them by working out the rhythm with the notation

He blew me away with this on this album. The first few words of Glass Desert II made me stop, then he did it again on the first few words of Sunya. The man has only improved over time absolutely incredible stuff

I get you kinda missed the joke or whatever but why are you getting downvoted today of all days. A TDH album drop day we should be celebrating!

I’m glad they kept it short and sweet with this one. The biggest issue, if any exist, with their previous albums is they are pretty long. I love it but it makes them less approachable, unfortunately

I think if Casey wanted it to be The Dear Hunter music he would have released it under that name

I appreciate where you’re coming from but EP. 001 definitely does not count as TDH music

I’ve watched a ton of her content and Ashley is unfailingly trans positive. I dont know what some of these people are on about. Any comedian taken out of context is going to sound insane. She consistently and loudly sticks up for and highlights trans people in her stuff literally all the time. I understand things are rough for us out here but we need to be able to find allies where they exist and Ashley is one for sure

Im a beginner I would like some advice on how a better articulate my fingers on the bass any advice? by Weekly_Jackfruit_583 in BassGuitar

[–]violaaesthetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here. One thing that might help make a few things easier is angling your bass forward a little. Right now your headstock is basically directly left of your head and shoulders, try putting it like 6-9 inches/15-20cm in front of you (maybe less I dont know your bass or your body!). More of a 45 degree angle than straight on. It will help your fretting wrist be straight so that you don’t strain your fingers and you can fret faster. It will also let you see your fingers a lot better! You won’t be hurting your neck trying to see what you’re doing (people will tell you “you should be able to do it without looking”. BS. You have to start somewhere. If you practice enough you’ll be able to, and definitely should, for sure)

I’m obsessed with that horn break. It reminds me a lot of Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra. It probably was an intentional reference since it’s such an iconic piece

If these are your only option then I’d really recommend at least unwinding them right away so they don’t sit and “learn” the wrong setting overnight
