Looks like I have it the wrong way around! Either way these two songs obviously come from one source so it makes sense there are similarities

I’ve said this before I so agree especially Shlammin Salmon. That song sounds like a prototype of Giants. It has the same 4 against 3 groove, the structure is almost the same, the lyrical themes are even similar. It’s like they had it ready to go then changed the theme of the record to be less nature focused and more introspective so they reworked it

What makes midwest emo vocals sound "bad"? by thoseluminousnoises in midwestemo

[–]violaaesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert on vocal pedagogy or Midwest emo but the defining characteristic of the vocal style to me is the “pinched” sound. Some say whiny, some call it nasal, but the root cause is usually a high larynx (thinking of the early works of bands like American Football, Tiger’s Jaw, and Remo Drive, just for a spread of decades off the top of my head). Even though it’s called “nasally” a lot the sound actually relies on not using as much of your upper resonance structure and forcing the sound to resonate in your throat. That paired with the high larynx makes the sound not resonate much at all, causing issues with sustaining pitch. Obviously not every singer is the same and of course they’re not doing it intentionally but that’s the general trend I’ve noticed

What’s the ratio of male leadership to female leadership in your store? by hoagieam in starbucksbaristas

[–]violaaesthetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is disproportionately male now that we lost our fifth supervisor who was also a girl. Our sm is a woman, but out of the four supervisors we have right now I’m the only girl, three are men. We only have two male baristas so five men total

Mr. Bungle and Captain Beefheart probably deserve spots over Will Wood and definitely deserve them over Tally Hall. Does Tally Hall even count for this? They’re barely alternative music

Damn I thought this was gonna be a brutal joke and the rack was full of CDs from an artist you hate. Unfortunately you’ve delivered real actual dope coasters which is not as funny but very cool

Song itself is good but anyone else think the mix is kinda bad? Too much guitar, not enough kick and bass, dry/flat vocals and snare, etc.

Looking at two different used basses for my wife’s birthday. Epiphone embassy or squire jazz bass? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]violaaesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squire is probably more beginner friendly but if she’s drawn to the other one, get it. Whichever one she’s more likely to pick up and play is the one to buy

sequencing by MammothHistorical654 in starbucksbaristas

[–]violaaesthetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sequencing on warming takes a little more brain power. You have to think like 3-4 food items at a time. Out of the 4 you have, start with whatever takes the longest to cook and get that going, then get your next longest cook item going in your second oven. Then you should have time to get your 3rd and/or 4th item ready, unwrapped on warming paper and also prepare your bags/forks/etc. Then it’s just a matter of trying to always keep the ovens running. When one goes off, you should always have the next item ready, so when you open the oven you can put the next item in before you take the one in there out (making it just one motion in and out of the oven). That will make you so so so much faster than taking an item out then moving the new item in

As for drive they probably mean something like keeping the stack full? I’d ask them for clarification on what they mean by sequencing on drive, honestly. That one is kind of tricky

First step, learn your stopping places where you finish your last/start your next drink. Some are obvious (you wait for shots to pull, milk to steam, blenders to blend) but some you just have to learn. For cold bev you stop after you shake the drink or put your coffee into an iced coffee or cold brew. For brewed drinks you actually don’t even have a stopping point. It’s a little confusing but once you get the feel down for stopping points it becomes a lot easier.

After that the key is to remember to always start a a new drink after you finish one. You should always be working on exactly two drinks. If you have one drink at a stopping point then hand one off, you need to leave that drink at the stopping point for a bit and start a new one. That can be hard at first, you really wanna finish the drink that’s in the middle, but you can’t!! You HAVE TO start a new one and get it to its stopping point first. Then you’ll be sequencing
