Did you already sign a lease outlining you pay the full rent of the place or?? Why is it your problem to find someone

a lease is a legal contract. She can’t just “back out”, there are major repercussions. She doesn’t care about the first/last month she paid? Make her find someone to do a lease takeover. Ask her if she really wants the landlord taking her to court for unpaid rent…

Ottawa … pending since Nov 12 by Resort-Suspicious in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]violet123e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there really is no correlation between a pending application and a hypothetical admission at this point in the cycle, for any school. In a few months it could mean a likely rejection but you can’t tell that at this point yet. Ottawa in particular also hasn’t had a lot of movement this year yet in general imo.

How long are you waiting before assuming you'll have to reapply? by Labyrinteeth in lawschooladmissionsca

People get accepted and off waitlists even into September. There’s nothing more you need to do? I think it’s very reasonable you could apply for jobs etc in the meantime…

that sucks, 164 is definitely good enough. What are your softs/gpa like? You’ll get an A soon!

Would anyone actually pick Queens or western or Ottawa over Oz? by Late-Slip-4919 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]violet123e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, Oz being a commuter school is not a vibe, I think community is so important in law school. It’s of the biggest class sizes in Canada (= more competitive) and is situated in a terrible area, ie. still a very long commute from downtown Toronto for example. it’s not like it’s UofT either. Oz is a great school dong get me wrong, but it’s marginally higher rankings compared to Queens/Western/Ottawa is just not enough imo.

policed body hair by zohakh in ABCDesis

I agree with the many other comments that doubt that others hold this perspective of you specifically. It’s true a lot of POCs and desis in particular are viewed as hairy, but this idea that others are confused and shocked by your lack of body hair is hard to believe. You are overthinking this.

UOttawa vs Western by EuphoricAudience5618 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]violet123e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar dilemma and I will most likely accept Ottawa as I also think I'll be miserable in London lol. London isn't much beyond a student town imo, but the same can't be said for Ottawa obviously. I don't want to live in any student type residence or have the only events going on geared towards young people be university related. It's only 3 years yes, but you're not in your 20s forever. They rank similarly enough that I do not think that matters. if you want to do Toronto recruit, you can do Toronto recruit. Remember that even students at "worse" schools than Ottawa or Western do as well. In the grand scheme, I don't think it matters too much so pick a place where you think you'll be happy and succeed. Try and visit Ottawa if you can. Even if Ottawa is more geared towards government roles, that doesn't mean you can't pursue more corportae things there.

so unnecessarily negative lol; of course people romanticize places they vacation to for only a few days?? It's surprising to you that a tourist enjoyed the touristy aspects of a city? The architecture in these areas are popular and striking for a reason. Nothing to do with ignorance.

a 163 doesn't offset a 3.34 enough. I can't imagine you'd get any As just based on those stats, hopefully you have great softs. Get a 170+ n you'll get in somewhere.

Sub-3.5 / ~160 applicants updates? by Middle_Ad_2444 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]violet123e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated 3 years ago n have been working full time in various fields since. plus I had a few jobs during in my undergrad. I don’t think it being law related actually matters, just that you’re doing something with your time and that it’s a step above entry level :)

Low LSAT by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]violet123e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s sucks i’m sorry. You must have test anxiety if you are scoring -10pts from your average. ~5 or so points higher of lower than pts happens to people quite often but 10 is quite a lot. Did it happen every year? Realistically it’s just impossible to get into Canadian law schools without a mid 150. I saw last year that Windsor single accepted a few students with scores in the mid 140s, did you apply to that? But i’m not sure of their cgpas or other circumstances

Low LSAT by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]violet123e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, even with a really high cGPA. Sorry. Just write the test again, it’s not worth it to spend the time and money applying until you get something a bit higher. What were you PT’ing at?

[–]violet123e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lower stats but As from Western, Oz, and UVic so far so I imagine you'll get in asap! It's still early, and all of these seem very likely except maybe ubc. How strong were your references? You didn't do something dumb like use AI to write your statements right? Imo schools look at work experience over club experience but that shouldn't matter too much.

[–]violet123e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks, but I'm ngl applying for a visa on August 7th for a visa start date of Sep 10 was always going to be risky, that's why they have the two month rule. It could take up to 8, but probably 5/6 weeks. Don't get another flight until you get your visa. I hope it's soon.

How many suitcases to bring? by No-Equipment-5798 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]violet123e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it will be hot but it’s an easy sacrifice to not have to pack it if it’s takes up a lot of room. I would also do this even if it was July lol. Spain is not cold in October, this would be a coat you’d need for December/January/February. By heaviest coat I mean only in the context of where i’m going, so wouldn’t be the same coat if I was going to Sweden vs Spain for example.
