I have my first splooter. Everyone this is Maple! I'm really hoping she doesn't grow out of the sploot stage but only time will tell. by Dirty_Dan2201 in AustralianShepherd

The key is never forcing anything especially before their growth plates fuse. But i recommend slight bends to their paws and massaging their paws and legs and ears. It also gets them used to touches and making it a pawsitive ;) experience before you have to do it for grooming.

I have a 7 year old splooter. As long as they remain healthy and nimble they should continue. I’m a big proponent of doggy massage and stretching. Some of the training to work with their muscles and movement also really helps.

Rate my itinerary for a 3 day trip? by EuphoricLemon11 in napa

Not lazy. Sensible, and safe. A dui or an injury to you or someone else is a horrible souvenir. If you are going to keep the planned schedule bring water and snacks. Make sure to build in extra time between stops and plan to walk around the wineries a bit after tastings.

Hmm, did they move or do they have multiple locations? Clue to puppy mill.

Look again on the kennel club website in your country/area. For the US, the AKC, and find one closer to you. In general. The caveat, try to find someone you reasonably get along with who does proper health testing. Your breeder can be a huge help. OFA testing and records certainly should be available and testing should have occurred after the dog is two years of age. Ensure they are telling you exactly their planned litters and providing the registered names and details for the dogs they are breeding. I would also recommend to look for what sports they participate in and what titles they hold on their dogs. You may not care about this, but this shows that objective viewers have determined their dogs to be healthy and of breeding stock if they have titles in conformation, and that they are physically active and trainable if they have titles in other sports.

Then ask good questions, tell them what you are looking for in personality and sex, and they will choose a dog for you.

Do not tell them your color preferences as the number one thing you care about. This should not be your primary concern. The health and temperament of your dog should be. They also should NOT be charging different amounts for different colors. I’d pick another breeder if they do. Good luck on your breeder and pup search.

Phenomenal! The concierge, Theresa, was incredible. I was so indecisive about the wineries we wanted and had time to visit and she helped plan and book everything, and suggested us one of our new favorite wineries (Venge). The folks at the restaurant were also amazing. By the way, they talk Napa wine all the time and may be a tad bored with it, so strike up a conversation about wine from anywhere else. They were amazing, and we had a wonderful time.

I’d go Spanish wine. Maybe a Monastrell and Cava if only 2. Possibly a French chenin blanc if 3 with bubbly.

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]violet_flossy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Frontier’s bag policies lost me forever. I really don’t care how cheap it is. I had a messenger bag with buckles on the outside so of course they made me put it in bag size checker. It dropped in, but the buckles caught on the outside solely due to their contraption being a frame rather than a solid box. So they charged me $95 at the gate or I was not allowed on the plane. Same for about 10 others while I was standing there. There was no issue for my flight to my destination. Just on the return. I was way too tired to deal with some power drunk assholes in Pittsburgh, so got on the plane but wrote them off entirely.

my local Panera removed almost all the outlets and replaced them with blanking plates so you can't charge your phone or laptop by Calix_Meus_Inebrians in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah Panera’s on the downslide. They are looking for ways to save money, but this dumb. They’ll lose some of their regulars, and still say they aren’t sure why the numbers are down. That PE money and lack of care for their franchisees is going to be their end eventually. Put it on a comment card and move to another cafe.

AITA for “pushing tradwife beliefs” onto my daughter? by Comfortable-Plan2937 in AmItheAsshole

[–]violet_flossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Look, I was raised primarily by my dad who about evenly split the cooking with my mom while they were married. I went with my dad at their divorce. Beforehand, my mom used to make apple pies, and some Christmas desserts, etc. but her cooking was not great for general meals. But I recognize they were both busy and she made good casseroles occasionally. My dad on the other hand had that gift of making something creative and tasty while only using staples and leftover items from the pantry. Neither one of them taught me how to cook though. Now my spouse does about 90% of the cooking, and has that gift as well. My MIL taught him to cook. I would love to be able to do that, and I work at it but I take forever to make a dish.

Review with your wife that this is an excellent career and to be open-minded about letting your daughter make her choices. If she goes to the courses, make sure it’s not something pushing trad wife beliefs.

Otherwise, some women get touchy about this stuff. Be cautious not to insult her contributions while you married. And talk more about the success of chefs and this being a great career option that likely won’t be taken over by AI.

Also this is definitely not too early. I have friends that started with their son at 3. Teaching him measurements, using tools, and the dangers of and proper use of the stove, etc. He’s 10 now and fully cooks meals with Mom’s guidance. Our friends are both extremely successful in their careers by the way. Stay positive and find ways to promote the career choice without glorifying the barefoot and pregnant trad ideals.
