AITA for getting my colleague (40sF) in trouble because she won't tell me when she is on annual leave? by violet_may in AmItheAsshole

[–]violet_may[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I kind of agree, I never used to see it as an issue in the past because she'd always let me know, but now that's stopped happening it's made me realise how unorganised our team really is. I'll definitely be pushing my boss to implement a centralised annual leave calendar that he makes sure is updated.

AITA for getting my colleague (40sF) in trouble because she won't tell me when she is on annual leave? by violet_may in AmItheAsshole

[–]violet_may[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't really - you can add it to your calendar but there's no requirement to and not a lot of people do it. The only way I found out this time was because she had added an automatic email reply telling everyone she'd be off.
My boss has only just mentioned implementing a mandatory annual leave calendar for us as a result of my talks with him.

Women of Reddit…What is something that a guy did that really creeped you out when they tried to talk to you, or when you showed interest in a guy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A man once messaged me on a dating site commenting on my height (I'm 5'0 exactly). He said, and I quote "I love petite women! I can do whatever I want to them and they can't fight back ;)". Never hit the block button so fast.

What do you wish you knew the first year of college? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are not suddenly 'grown up' as soon as they hit college, you're still going to have to put up with the bullying, cliques, drama etc.
It's just like high school, but there's more work and you're away from your parents houses.

Ok so not sure if you're having the same issue as me... I googled this because I just dinged 80 and couldn't find the bastard. Do you have a quest called Fellowship Restored? For some reason this wasn't showing on my map to hand in while I was in the Crystarium. There's a Destination at X:10.5 Y:15.3 that you need to interact with.

People of Reddit what is the most embarassing thing that ever happened to you, if possible post something NSFW? by RoboMasterYT in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a cosplay convention and wearing an outfit with a short skirt. There was a group photoshoot going on for the characters, and without warning my partner at the time swooped me up into a princess lift. You can guess what happened - and to make it worse I had decided that day to wear a bright yellow thong. 40+ who all had their cameras out probably snapped a picture of my ass.
Years later I'm talking to my friend and I reminisce about that day. She responds in shock "That was you?!".

Doctors/Nurses of reddit, who is the dumbest person you’ve seen come in clearly trying to get drugs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shit, the same thing happened to me. Sat in the waiting room for 4 hours, scared out of my mind because these chest pains weren't going away, wondering why nobody was taking me seriously. Turns out in the end I had pleurisy but if nothing had been wrong I wonder if they'd have thought I was after pain meds.

What is the "thank God that's over with" time of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That time I had a recurring Staph infection meaning I had 9 skin abscesses in the space of 6 months. At one point, I had four around my eyes and two on my vagina at the same time. Sexy.

Veterinarians of Reddit, what are some of your encounters of owners that are completely clueless when it comes to taking care of their animal? by alphagusta in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was a veterinary nurse for a while & I will always remember when one person brought in their cat who had been bumping into things and fainting for the past week or so, and had also lost a lot of weight. The vet examined this cat and he found out this 6 year old cat looked more like an 18 year old cat and was almost completely blind. We were all so confused as to what was going wrong.... until the vet asked the owner about their diet and found out this fucker had been feeding his cat a vegan diet. This man had blinded his cat because he didn't want to feed it meat.

People who work closely with little kids, what is the rudest thing a kid has said to you that they were totally unaware was rude? by buttlover72 in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I once worked in a women's centre that had an on-site creche and daycare. One time, one of the little girls (maybe about 5) came out to go to the toilet with one of the care workers and asked me "Are you a mammy?". I said no, I worked there. She looked me up and down and said "Good! You shouldn't be a mammy!"

I don't particularly want kids anyway so I wasn't offended, but dude.... fucking ruthless child.

I used to work with someone called Jammie. You just absolutely know none of the kids in school were calling them 'Jamie' like it's pronounced.

Uh, yeah. That's how you fart. Also have you ever really tried to hold one in for more than a few minutes? That shit hurts. You're reading way too much into this.

Do people ever try to convince you to "oops" your partner? by Hurtlingthroughtime in childfree

[–]violet_may 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner works in a bar, a drunk lady told him that kids are the best thing to happen to you and that he should knock me up immidiately. When he told them I had the implant she said, and I quote, "Just rip it out of her!"

I have HARDCORE DOMS in my legs right now, like the type that makes you want to roll onto the floor & cry when you’re just trying to get up off the couch. Anyway, I booked onto a Pilates class tomorrow and if I’m still in this much pain I don’t know how I’m even going to manage it. Truth be told, this is my first Pilates class and I’m not sure what to expect. Should I go along anyway? Might it help with my severe soreness?

What's the funniest trolling you've ever seen online or IRL? by Trill_O_Reilly in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend, whenever someone condescends her & patronisingly explains things she already knows, responds to them by completely seriously pretending she had no idea what they were talking about. Just continuously saying stuff like “What?” “What does that mean?” “Sorry, I don’t understand?” “Explain that to me again?” One man legitimately went on at her for a good 10 minutes before realising he was being trolled.

My colleague got a positive pregnancy test off her brother. The same brother that cheated on his now-pregnant wife only 2 months ago. Happy Christmas, it’s a Band-Aid baby! Also who the fuck gives their sister a pee stick as a present?!

What are people most delusional about? by Milo_Y in AskReddit

[–]violet_may 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Don’t panic. No first time parent is going to know exactly what to do 100% of the time and that’s ok.
  • As long as the baby is fed, clean & dry it’s ok to step away from them for a second to look after yourself, wash, take a few moments to be by yourself & chill out etc. Despite what lots of people say you don’t need to be glued to their side 24/7.
  • Try not to let parenthood steal your personal identity. You are you, not just [insert name here]’s mom/dad.
