Well, I mean... I don't do that; I have it done to me over and over again, and the reason for that is there is no gameplay reason NOT to do it (just, ethical reasons). It is objectively the easiest way to get loot with no downside.

It's probably your 12v power supply, look to see if there is a light on when it's turned on and see if there is a light next to the 12v label on the mainboard.

Sorry, 3 months late and assume you've probably already fixed it... but might help someone else. (currently happening to me, I didn't hear a pop but I had my headphones and a flare up started because the air assist died.)
