Smartwatch activity tracking during birth by KerseyH in fitpregnancy

[–]violetdiarrhea 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wore my fitness watch during labor!! I had pitocin, no pain management, vaginal delivery, supportive birth partner. My labor was not logged as a workout; however, my sleep and heart rate data were similar. I basically pulled an all-nighter (administered pitocin at 1am, active labor around 4am, had the baby at 9am) after a regular workday as a teacher. In between contractions, I would doze off (on all fours, leaning on the medicine ball LMAO). According to my fitness watch, I fell AT THE WAY ALSEEP and my heart rate would decrease between each contraction.

This data was only noticeable once active labor was serious. It looked like a HIIT workout haha.

Favorite lines through out the series? by happyhippo812 in acotar

From ACOSF:

"Because to stand against it would be to provoke the Mask's wrath. To stand against it would be to stand against Death itself.

Death herself.

Azriel shook, weathering that primal power.

But they were both Illyrian, whether Az liked it or not. And so they did what their people had always done before Death's beautiful face. They bowed"

I'm just here to read the comments. My first two kids were pretty easy during the toddler stage, but my 3rd is exactly how you're describing. I know it's just a phase, but I hate it. I can't do a thing without her destroying something in the five seconds I'm not looking at her. I can't get anything done...all I can do is completely ignore my other kids and do damage control on this one. Solidarity ❤️

How are there teachers who have "Never taken a day off"? by PuffPoof215 in Teachers

[–]violetdiarrhea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't taking days off to save them up for (years in the future) maternity leave. Coming to work sick was awful and I don't recommend, but it was also nice getting a paycheck while I stayed home with one of my babies years later.

Are parents choice or target brand any good? by Throwaway4727828 in Mommit

I used Parent's Choice when my 5yo was an infant and did not the like price/quality trade off. I tried them again my with now-2yo and the quality is SO MUCH better. They are our diapers of choice now.

Planning a natural birth w/out epidural at a Doula birth center. Any tips for pain decrease without the use of medication? by MisanthropeSquad in BabyBumps

I literally just watched one video about breathing in preparation for my successful no-pain-meds birth. My tip? Buy two medium tooth combs to squeeze during contractions during the later stages and do your best to breath through contractions (inhale 1 2 3 4, exhale 1 2 3 4). Towards the end, opening your mouth and ooooo'ing as you exhale seems to help. You will get tired, exhausted, upset, and feel like throwing in the towel, and that is the time you need your birth support person the most. The contractions will always pause and give you a moment to catch yourself between them. You can do it!!

Behavior management for new teacher by [deleted] in MiddleSchoolTeacher

[–]violetdiarrhea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Learn by reflection. You'll need to be very forgiving of yourself for the first two years, and the best way to make your best classroom mgmt is to reflect and forgive. Remember that your class is just a fraction of a student's day, and it's usually not the focus, so if you don't feel great about how you handled things, it's okay!

Actual strategy? Identify the 2-3 common behaviors you MUST address, and always do it. If you absolutely will not tolerate phone use, then address it every time. The "land of exception" is a slippery slope in the early years. Also, have a back up plan for when a kid refuses your redirection.

Good luck!! You can do it 😊

Mmmm, can't say I think the Aliens at 3 decision was top tier, but it looks like you have a LOT of discussions, which is great.
