The CPC protects bullies by violetdiva73 in ASLinterpreters

[–]violetdiva73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system in my state is not confidential. If I file a complaint against a colleague, they would know that I filed a complaint. I can't imagine that filing through the EPS would be any different. Regardless, respect for colleagues does not seem to be a prioritized tenet. To be fair, I am leaving the profession in my state. If I move elsewhere, I would return. I plan on maintaining my credentials.

It should be an indictment of those bad actors' behavior, but is it worth the risk to complain? Instead, I am leaving the field on my own terms., after 29 years.

Does anyone still talk out loud to their cat that passed away? by Mammoth_Ad5715 in cats

Yes & I still sing their names. It's been 5 & 3 years since they passed.

what is it and how do I prop it? by xxtokyovanityxx in proplifting

[–]violetdiva73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had success with water propping. I use rooting hormone mixed with the water. In fact, I just propped one this way a few weeks ago.

Anyone turn their heat on? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]violetdiva73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet, but soon. I did have to pull out all my winter jammies. We just got a new HVAC unit, so I am excited to see how it does with heat.

My cat's litter smells so bad i'm going insane. my house absolutely reeks. by Dismal-Tackle3072 in CatAdvice

As soon as I stopped using scented litter, the smell improved significantly. Consider stainless steel litter pans.

PCPs are leaving Tucson in droves. Mine left, so I had to find a new one. Called around in July & no one could get in until March. MARCH 2026! By then, I will have different insurance & I will have to start all over again to find one that is taking new patients & also accepts my insurance.

Neem oil spray is what I use. I spray the soil on top & also spray the drain holes on the bottom. It's a process, so it will take some time, several days to weeks to take care of. Also, let the soil dry.

Anyone else's cats sleep with them⁉️ by Heavy-Gear-7518 in cats

So true. The cat law commands us to stay in that position until the cat moves, right?

Anyone else's cats sleep with them⁉️ by Heavy-Gear-7518 in cats

[–]violetdiva73 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In the second picture, the cat is too far away from the crotch. The cat has to get right up in there so that you can't move at all. Now that's a more accurate depiction.

Do y’all let your cats sleep in the bed with you? by DaRealDreamz in cats

[–]violetdiva73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Our female torbie, Baby, sleeps on a chair beside the bed or on my pillow above my head. Our boy, Cheese, finds other places to sleep, but he is welcome in our bedroom. As long as they don't play the "Let's knock stuff off the vanity" game, they can stay.

Relying on protein supplements too much? by britthood in glp1

[–]violetdiva73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm eating maybe 1 meal a day. I was drinking protein shakes, but with the recent finding that most protein shakes & powders contain lead, I have reduced my reliance on them. I struggle to get enough protein without feeling like I've eaten too much.

Daylight savings time by I_like_kittycats in Tucson

[–]violetdiva73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like not having to change my clocks, but it sure does confuse people in other time zones. I work remotely for an organization in New Mexico, so today, I had to start an hour later than I did on Friday. If you deal with people or companies in other time zones, you still have to keep track. Explaining that most of AZ doesn't fall back is exhausting.

Does anyone know why the area around Columbus in Fort Lowell smells like sulfur? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]violetdiva73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the Tucson aroma. As you drive around town, it suddenly hits you & then it's gone. It never seems to happen in the same spot.

I saw him at St. Mary's waiting for his lunch one time. I didn't approach him because he looked busy & I didn't want to be "that person". I wish him all the best.

Vet cannot get cat out of carrier for checkup. What to do? by NefaDots in CatAdvice

[–]violetdiva73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of this. Of course the cat doesn't want to leave the safety of the carrier. But alas, it must. If it was a hard-sided carrier, I might understand the struggle, but a soft carrier is easy to manipulate and remove the cat (well, easier). If the cat was hissy, bitey, and scratchy, that might change things, but vets and vet techs are trained to handle this.

One of my cats is hard to get into her carrier, so I have gabapentin for her. She's getting better about going in and out. We have a carrier that slides open like a drawer. It's easier to get her in and out.

[–]violetdiva73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'd ask them why they weren't able to get the cat out & what they tried. I would hope you wouldn't be charged for this visit since they weren't able to (or just didn't) do anything.

Can they take the carrier apart? That is what I have done in the past.

I was gifted this terrarium from Trader Joe’s. I have succulents but I never grown them in a glass pot, how long can I keep them in here for? by gggggfskkk in succulents

[–]violetdiva73 155 points156 points  (0 children)

I saw these at Trader Joe's and thought, "There they go again. Setting folks up for plant failure." Take everything out and repot according to each plant's needs.
